A Community Organizer, organizes…what?

Today's Tids Issue 3,238
Opening Stuff:

When you find peace in December, it is the best peace of all. Finding a quiet nook away from the yuletide hubbub and parties and shopping is like laying your head softly on a lover’s shoulder and feeling the security of a caressing arm. All you hear are heartbeats smothering a world of chaos..

Are lapel cameras going to stop thugs and criminals from robbing store and resisting arrest? It’s just another in our national history of superficial solutions, which in this case tends to put handcuffs on those chartered with stopping crime.

Kudos to the US scientists who got our space exploration back on track. We’ve got to get back to being known around the world for more than embarrassing television programs.

Watch out for Hydroponics. Or as I call it, the rise of the Vegans. In case you missed it, the process behind the ability to deliver fresh vegetables to Urban Farmer’s Markets all year long is the system where plants are grown in in water full of controlled nutrients. (Note: The system has been proven successful by medical marijuana growers, -- And probably recreational weed producers too.). Here’s the point: State governments around the country are passing medical marijuana laws, and in some cases everybody-get-high laws assuring a growth industry for pot. So, you have to expect some proactive vegetarian lobbying effort to stimulate growth of vegetable sales with government mandates to protect heavy investments in hydroponic urban farms. I could get on board if the effort included fresh potatoes for chips or corn for nachos or – what do they make Cheetos out of anyhow, cellulose?

While you weren’t watching, the NCAA Men’s Soccer Final Four took shape – UCLA vs. Providence College; Virginia vs. UMBC (University of Maryland, Baltimore County). I expect this sport accomplishment to become more and more visible on the US sports pages in the not so distant future.

While we’re on Final Fours, the NCAA first ever Football play-down four was announced, and not without controversary. I’d say the four Alabama, Ohio State lorida Sate and Oregon offers anice nationaly balance, but I believe theat TCU got screwed. Last week, the school was number 3, and all they did was go out Saturadya dn win  55-3. For that they were dropped to Six and Ohio State move dup to 3 becaeu some how their 59-0 win gave selectors a minor orgasm. Now, I like OSU in the mix. My beef is with Florida State sneaking in after barely nipping Georgia Tech. So the NCAA is drinking chapaigne over their “Playoff System” while proving once agai that it can still be smessed up by human choices over play on the field.

The Question:
Only Ten song singles in history have sold over 15,000,000 records. Name the songs people listen to most.

The Headlines:

--House Intel Chairman Says Senate Pending Release Of CIA (Torture) Report Will Cause Violence And Destruction Abroad.
--Protest Violence Hits Berkley For Second Night.
--Japan (In Recession?) Stocks Hit 7 Year High; EuroStocks Move Down From 7 Year High.

As far as I’m concerned these protests are just another case of mass littering on the streets of USA.

What really gets my attention though are the wails of moms who look at the lifeless bodies of their children slain in their own neighborhoods by their own neighbors. This is the national tragedy.

The Baltimore Orioles are taking a bath in free agency. Teams like KC, Balt and TB do better when the big market teams are watching their nickels, and the league is much better for it. At least for real baseball fans, but not so much for TV execs who cater to star frenzy.

Hey wait a minute, these protests are growing and are amazingly well organized. And in the White House we have a man who’s only real life experience was at being a very effective community organizer. Now, I’m not saying that the President of the USA would condone or be the man behind the curtain promoting mayhem and chaos in the streets, but…

I have to laugh at RI Economists saying that they recommend building our economic future around our strengths, health care and education. Yeah, that’s a real economy alright. If everybody starts eating Michelle Obama’s school lunches, the next generations will be healthier requiring less health care. You have to think that our Sate economists are being paid by the Nurses and Teachers unions.

Good thing there was a Patriots game on last night or I might have been tempted t watch “Eaten Alive” on Discovery Channel. I hope a guy being consumed alive by a 24 foot Anaconda was better than “Discovering Al Capone’s Safe”. I figure he survived or somebody would have leaked news of his death to increase viewership. Welcome to Anything-for-a-Buck TV.

So did you hear about the doc who thought his patient liked his wart because he had said, “It’s growing on me.”

According to Kelly Bluebook, the five top 2015 Crossovers (Out of 67 rated) are Acura MDX, Toyota Highlander, Mazda CX-5, GMC Acadia and Audi Q7. Mazda seems to be slipping into top spots in all of the medium priced car surveys.

Art and crafts Christmas sales shows are full of amazingly inventive creations which I have no inclination to buy.

I notice that artists in their continuing effort to be different from average humans dress exactly the same as each other. That’s good for occupational profiling.

You have to love the Mayor of Budapest Hungry who not only is suggesting drug testing of their most vulnerable – Kids 12-18, but also those in power and with opinions – Elected pols and Journalists. I love it.

The Answer:
Here are only 8 songs that went over the 15 million mark: #1 is White Christmas by Bing Crosby. 2 is “Candle in the Wind” by Elton John. Then as #3 we have “Silent Night” by Bing followed by “Rock Around the Clock (Bill Haley, Comets), “We are the world” (USA for Africa), “If I didn’t care” (The Inkspots) and “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion”. You can check out the other multi-million sellers at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_singles

Can you imagine the PC crowd today allowing black singing group being called the Inkspots?

My real pet peeve of the day is the “Game Stop” company commercial where elves and reindeer hijack a truck load of whatever game Stop makes, for use in the Santa distribution system Christmas night. It just aggravated me that some brainless computer game developer genius thought it a good idea that to imply to kids that Santa says it is alright to steal from other people. It’s not like we aren’t enabling criminals everywhere these days. BTW, if the police are looking for the culprits in e Game-Stop caper, be on the lookout for short people with red and green outfits. Oh…what?...you can’t say that.

In case you are getting despondent over our conflicting society, remember what Celine Dion sings:
