Some days, veterans must look around and probably wonder what they were fighting for.

Today's Tids Issue 3,463
Opening Stuff:

This is a day that brings sadness and warmth, and pride to my heart. I was in the army, but I never did much. I don’t stand up in  groups where somebody on stage says let’s salute our heroes in the audience. I didn’t face cruel enemies or watch my buddy blown apart. Or hear “Taps” on a lonely battlefield, feeling my eyes well up, a lonely teardrop circling down my cheek. I wasn’t at Valley Forge, Or Lake Erie Or Gettysburg Or Havana or Guadalcanal or Pork Chop Hill or Hanoi Hilton or upon the endless sands of the Middle East. Yet I would feel the wrenching in my gut as one fighting solder after another stands to the applause that comes from the soul. Sailors, Soldiers, Marines, Airforce, Coast Guard – young and old; male, female, black, white and tan, all as one unit but individually standing before the admiring eyes of many; each with a story, remembering a victory; the losses and the horror that went along with winning. Look into and through the eyes of a single old crusty looking vet in an battle or unit cap marching in a parade, and see a history of heroism.

I’m thinking that vegetarians and health nuts are the lobby behind $15/Hour minimum wages, as this 50%+ increase in labor costs will surely put many a fast food restaurant out of business.

Last night we had Statesman Trump and Cool under fire Carson not really losing, The winners and perhaps gainers seemed to be Rubio and Cruz, just barely better than Fiorino who came out strong for the military. Christie had fun at the kids table taking everybody’s turkey and mashed potatoes. There are actually some pretty good campaigners down there, but mainstream and conservative Repubs seem to have tired of them. The question I always have entering these debates, is which of te 8-12 can reach into the hearts of Independents and wring out a vote. I’m not sure I saw much of that. Eventually, hopefully, Repubs will have to unite behind the nominee and it is then all about indies, or else it’s Madam Prez and more of Obama socialism.

In 1910, the average wage was 22 Cents/Hour. The average US worker made between $200 and $400 per year.

The Question:
Double “Q” Day: 1. In what year and under which president were the remains of an nameless soldier laid to rest in the Tomb Of the Unknown Soldier? 2. What were the top five causes of death 100 years ago today in 1915?

The Headlines:
--America Remembers.
--9 Killed As Private Jet Plows Into Apartment Building; There Were No Deaths Or Injuries In Buildings Or On Ground.
--Inventory Buildup Could Have Retailers Starting Deep Black Friday Discounts Early; Macy Sales Report Falls Short.

Something must be really wrong in America if so many Americans are diametrically opposed to each other.

The term “Bubble” is vastly overused when describing the Stock market, according to sensible stock market analysts. My opinion is that every financial manipulater who is sitting with too much gold or almost naked in shorts that aren’t falling, are dropping their pipes in bubble mixture and floating out the possibility of  a drastic decline. The facts though, just aren’t there. According to the results of exhaustive research by Yale U Finance Professor William Goetzmann and just reported by the National Bureau of Economic Research of Cambridge Mass that analyzed the patterns of the markets going back to 1900 – “There is only a 4.17% probability of a sharp decline following a sharp run-up in (stock) prices.” Put that in your bubble pipe and smoke it.

Bloomingdales upper end Department store seems t be promoting “Date rape” with their new ad, “Spike your best friend’s eggnog when they’re not looking.” You can be sure the millennium copywriter brought a copy of his work to the Manhattan party scene, and received many a chortle.

Let’s see, the government is jet propelling inflation with insane $15/ minimum wages, while looking to cut the benefits of Social Security. Seniors would be better off with death panels.

I think the perception of the Obama-Warren Buffet axis may have grown out of a typo. The news media thought he was the Oracle of Obama…not Omaha

Back 395 years ago, 41 Pilgrims signed the Mayflower Compact. 41. They certainly produced an awful lot of Mayflower descendants. Actually, my family was late for the sailing back in England. My 7or 8G Grandfather didn’t ask for directions.

I rarely “Reply to all”.

Carley Fiorina has to find a way not to disappear after the debates.

I see that because of a rise in concussions they are banning “Headers” in youth and High School Soccer. In my illustrious football career, I was carried off the field unconscious or walked off dazed many times. Maybe that’s what’s wrong with the Tids.

Community organizers win for themselves when they set people against each other.

Don’t rush into buying at the “BF” post T-Day lottery this year as the retailers may panic into really low prices in the days before and after Christmas.

In 1915, 39 people lived in Las Vegas.

The Parking Lot: Chapter 26 continues…
“Who is this freaking Nancy, anyhow?” Fred wanted to get into his car and drive to California, or Alaska.
“Well, before your bosses decided to build a casino on the northern land by the big lake, she was just a nice person who lived in  town. Her family has been…, The goon held up his hand…
“That was just a rhetorical question.”
    He knows rhetorical?, thought Fred.
“I don’t want a history lesson.  Charlie here looks dead, and we haven’t seen Jasper and Sam for two days.” The link seem to be this mystery woman , Nancy.
“Well, I think history has something to do with this mess.” Jerry walked over on legs that still looked wobbly, and sat, took in two deep breaths.
“Phew, something hit me.” Fred stood up and looked down at him. His eyes didn’t look so hot. He seemed now to be gasping for breath.
“We have to get you to a hospital”
“No. No hospital. And, No Police.” He closed his eyes and leaned back on his elbows. Just let me rest here for a minute.”
Fred took out hos phone and dialed the number he had for Rackovic.

The Answer:
1. In 1921, Warren Harding presided over the interment at the Tomb in Arlington National. 2. Pneumonia and influenza were the main killers as were in order Tuberculosis, Diarrhea, Heart disease and Stroke.

Sometimes I type a Tid that seems funny at the time. Then I look at it and think, not so much. But I keep it anyhow. I don’t like to waste ink.

I never get tired of Lee Greenwood. Maybe It’s because I’m proud of America, and love the men and women who keep us safe.  https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-006&ei=utf-8&fr=ytff1-yff16&p=your%20tube%20lee%20geenwood%20proud&type=
