Today's Tids Issue 3,658
Tids Interruptus:

Well my good old computer “Luke”, which has served the Tids community well, has just entered into the eternal sleep mode. So, I’m learning Windows 10 on a new computer and trying to install anti-virus, malware software as I type the this. I hope the anguish has been tolerable.

Happy VJ Day E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y. What a monumentally important day this was back in 1945. It may have seen the biggest single celebration in the history of The USA. Beating a fierce, unrelenting aggressor may have saved the world. But, it seems that the Political Correctness, which has essentially abolished the remembrance of that day, has deemed for the USA that not uttering the name of the assailant Japan is more important than honoring the millions who fought to free the world from ruthless tyrannical nationalism.

Even RI, which still celebrates VJ day, has changed the name to Victory Day or “VD”! Rhode Island the STD State.

It’s good to have a dear old friend with whom you can sit around and discuss comic strips.

A few hours ago Trump finished up a pretty good speech on his economic plans, but you’ll never see that fairly reported in gte general press. In fact, the Dem derogatory line is that it is just harebrained Trumpenomics. I remember another president who views were ridiculed as Reaganomics. How’d that work out for the Dems.

The Question:

The biggest thoroughbred horse race is the Kentucky Derby. What is the name the biggest, most famous in Harness Racing? Binus: For 26 year it was held at one town? (Hint – It is the town of the Harness Racing Museum & Hall of fame).

In the hazy world of Political nonsense and media misinformation and bias there comes a time when you have to iterate your own personals views. --First, a vote for Hillary is bad for America. Not because she lies or shrieks, but because she seeks government domination, more regulations and more taxes. A republican voting for Hillary because he or she don’t want to appear to accept the insanity of Trump, tends to give her the appearance of more support for a bad big government principle.  A non vote in this rare case is more productive for the country. --Uncontrolled illegal immigration is bad for the country. Illegal anything is bad for the country. Legal immigration is good for the country. --The economy is sluggish and in fact there is still far less employment than in 2008 – with less hours and fewer benefits. Most investment has been public rather than private. We need a new engine. --Political Correctness is killing our ability to really define problems accurately and then solve them. --Black Lives Matter creates divisiveness and further separates the Black populations from the rest of the country country. And so does Ethnic American, Racial American, Gender American et. al. –The way it appears right now, the Repubs should put all of their efforts into retaining congressional control. –Popular culture is enabling lower standards. --A belief in God is good for the character of a nation.

In a supermarket you can tell that immigrant families are fully Americanized when the wife starts piling into her basket box after box of Kraft’s Mac n’ Cheese.

It’s called Survival, Department:

The solutions for productive alternative energy will in the long run probably come from the big companies with the biggest stake in the business like Exxon, Shell etc. They have the technical knowhow, the physical resources, the cash and the desire to have a future. It is the way the US that used to be great did it. It is infinitely more desirable than bureaucrats and politicians picking winners and losers that conform to some ideological objective.

I never got used to using an appointment calendar, even in business, because I used to have a pretty good memory. Boy, am I in trouble now.

The headline, “Favre very emotional at Hall Induction” would in no way entice me to read the story. And, did they definitely overdo it a little on the ARod retirement?

Have you noticed that too many people label people who hold themselves to higher standards, “Elitists”?

The way things are going I figure I could have a president I can’t support -- and know I will have Congressional delegation that doesn’t support me. Kind of discouraging, isn’t it?

I never really ever got into the Corvette love affair thing.

The Answer:

I know you knew it was the Hambo, the Hambletonian! Bonus: Good Time Park In Goshen NY was the most famous site for the big race from 1930 to 1956. It was the place that gave the race the romance that made a favorite for movies.

If you happen to find a typo in here, Windows Ten made me do it!

See you tomorrow!
