Tweeting Twits Are Tedious.

Today's Tids Issue 3,900!
For Sanity:

Did ya Notice the change? Yes, another mini milestone in Tids land. If I didn’t consider the contentment of my neighbors, I’d be shooting off fireworks right now, writing in the glowing sky, “3,900 Tids” Yes the morning Tids written through drooping eyelids, but always with a heart full of love for all. Just a mere 100 to go until 4,000. If I can make it to #5,000, that would occur around September 11, 2021. A new life’s goal. Eeeehah!

On the eve of the days that celebrate the culmination of the people’s desire for independence we have to wonder if tweeting independence has brought our nation to its knees.

To me, Target is one of the brightest bulbs in the retail business. But in the retailing of the future department, they are falling behind Wal-Mart and Amazon. The war is on, and it’s all about flexibly and speedy adaptation. Remember, Sears once owned the mass merchandising world.

The Question:
Name five good movies for 4th of July watching.

The Headlines:
--Stocks Rebound; Consumer Spending Just Up 1%; Greenspan says Economy Entering Period of Stagflation; Crude Is At Biggest Weekly Gains, Nike Deal With Amazon Has Stock Shares Rising.
--Trump Authorizes $1.4 Billion Arms Sale To Taiwan; China Calls On US To Halt Sale.
--New House Bill Cracks Down On Sanctuary Cities; Takes Aim At Deported Criminal Who returned To US,
--Trump Travel Ban Begins Anew: Finance’s Added To List Exempted From ban.
--Venus Williams IN Crash Where Death resulted; Tennis Star Runs Red Light.
--Trump Sends Federal Assistance To Help Quell Violence In Chicago.
--Trump Says Kill ObamaCare, Find A SolutionLater.

Average wages are increasing, but consumer spending is way down. That’s called austerity. People are beginning to worry about living after the regular income tap is shut off in retirement. Its good for savers in retirement, but not so hot for main street and malls. And, maybe the stock markets if the austerity continues. Good for common sense, but the American consumerism doesn’t run on common sense.

Fox stars didn’t do too well outside the chicken coop. Nobody, but nobody watched ex-Super Fox star Greta on MSNBC, and she was fired yesterday. Next to go could be NBC ex-Foxy lady Kelly who’s shows have lost all of the pre-premiere momentum. Just goes to show you that conservatives can’t live in a liberal world, and vice-versa. Audiences also don’t like intrusions into their comfort zones. So, does this mean we will just continue to be a nation that ever hears the truth?

Let’s see, we need China as a friendly middleman in the unstable NK situation, and then we irritate them by selling guns to Taiwan. Do you think Tillerson may have battled the white House cabal against such a move? I believe he might have and that may be another reason why you hear disgruntlement rumors between he and Trump rumpswabs.

Note: Tillerson is quite disturbed over White House HR type propel rejecting his nominations for key jobs in his department. His State employees are bitter because he is doing what needs to be done in all government agencies – getting rid of waste and inefficiency.  The Tillerson watch is on, and it is a crying shame.

It’s nice to have fiancĂ©’s on your side.

If Morning Joe’s ratings were in the crapper as the man in the White House said (Which, BTW, they weren’t) then his tweeting may give that program this morning its highest ratings in history.

Word of the Day: Paranoia – A mental illness characterized by systematized delusions of persecution or grandeur usually without hallucinations; A tendency of an individual or group toward excessive or irrational suspiciousness or distrust of others.

Word of the Day II: “Twit” – A silly, Annoying person.

Three millionaire Jersey couples were arrested this week for welfare/entitlement’s fraud. One couple making over a Millions a year got on several welfare roles by misrepresenting income on applications, taking income out of Social Security, Medicaid, SNAP and public housing. Crime authorities are saying the recent arrests are just the tip of the iceberg. It’s an age old problem. Where there are piles of money, criminals will go there like the proverbial swarming ants at the picnic. That is also one of the problems with healthcare in general. I’m not saying hospitals and healthcare people including doctors are criminals, but what they charge the system is. They charge because the dough is in the vaults of Insurance companies and the treasury, not in the wallets of those buyers of services, many who believe as far as they are concerned, it is free. It is one of the reasons why it costs so much.

Maybe Costco should run the Health Care system. Hey! I just got a Kirkland hip.

Many, many millions of people in this USA want Trump’s admin to win big, But the man himself keeps diverting the focus away from important new efforts, big missions…all that must be accomplished for a better country.

They are saying that Steve Jobs didn’t fully understand what he had in the IPhone. See, he’s no smarter than Tids’ readers.

The Trump tweeting fiasco was tempered a bit by the in your face assaults of the Union led RI Legislature.

I read a headline in the letters to the editor department that said, “Taking down statues of confederate soldiers will begin the heeling.” Heeling. I don’t need no heeling. When a liberal says “Heel”, they want everybody to fall in line behind them like little puppies. Everything is so confused by these convoluted theories like heeling. Kids are told today, maybe taught in school, that they should really worry about being white. Instead of just feeling good about being who they are, children are torn, about what…a manufactured split personality, being trapped in white skin…when that is exactly wo they are. I think it’s all a promotion from the American Psychologist Association. Enough about heeling.

Just think -- if everybody heeled, what would the liberals have left to foment?

I feel that Trump’s tweeting has put a blanket over this day’s Tids.

On this mini anniversary of a Tids’ accomplishment, maybe it’s a good time to review the mission statement at the internet location page: “Observing the achievements and foibles of humans. Opinions and puns. Practical and ethereal. Politics, Arts, Culture, Sports, History, News. Occasionally funny.”

Shoot me! I actually said “Mission Statement”.

Reading Between the Lines Movie Reviews:
--The House is a basic Hollywood formula comedy which Poeler and Ferrell fans will perhaps like but in reality, isn’t much of a film. A couple splurges on their daughter’s college fund and then opens a gambling casino in the basement to recoup. Not as many laughs as you would hope.
--Baby Driver is getting the applause, maybe because of the story or maybe more so because of the soundtrack. Stars Kevin Spacey as crime boss who coerces young super getaway driver Ansel Elgort to drive for is heists. Elgort lives within his soundtracks drwong out the irritations around him. That abruptly comes to an end with a robbery gone bad. This movie moves fast, and I’m not just talkin’ speeding cars. Romance and music make it work. Also stars Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx.
--Okja is a nice little movie enjoyed by all. A super-sized animal and giant friend of a young woman in the hills if South Korea is taken by a multinational corporation and exploited in the US. The young woman sets forth on a rescue operation not knowing or understanding the complex barriers she must overcome. A good one.

The Answer:
In no certain order, we have Jaws. The Sandlot, Independence Day, 1776, Born on the Fourth of July, Mr. Smith (Jimmy Stewart) Goes to Washington, The Patriot, Lincoln, John Adams, and Top Gun. Some others are Air Force One, Apollo 13 and Miracle. Or any movie that makes you feel good about a small town or innocence of summer youth.

Have a great long, Red, White and Blue weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!

The joy of interruption.

Today's Tids Issue 3,899
For Quiet Interludes:

Over the years I have mentioned in various Tids that my grandson Harry is talking to me as I write. I give you that as a warning that Tids production may be slowed. Now he is eleven and his questions about people and life are deeper, requiring a more difficult switch from the jaunty Tids to the inquiries of a young fertile, questioning mind.  I keep saying to myself, maybe he’ll notice that my fingers are moving swiftly over the keyboard and will stop for a moment, or two. Or better yet, perhaps he’ll feel the need to go to the bathroom.

The net result of Harry’s presence is that his inquisitive mind may help elevate the quality of the Tids.

I don’t know if I just got hit by freezing rain, but it hurt like hail.

I guess Michael Tate Reed of Arkansas doesn’t like the guilt associated with knowing what is right and wrong. He just keeps on destroying Ten Commandment monuments. He says that these statues (That govern the goodness of people) are against his freedom. Yesterday he destroyed a 24-hour old monument in Little Rock. Three years earlier he did the same thing to one in Oklahoma City. Guess what. The Arkansas government has already ordered a replacement. Reed will be in jail contemplating the effects of right and wrong.

There are way too many cars on the road.

The Question:

The Headlines:
--Consumer Confidence Rises In June; Banks Happy; Oil Comfortable; EuroZone Economic Excitement Euphoric; Stocks Could Have Good day.
--McMaster: Military Option For NK Being Prepared; Trump Looking To Step Up Pressure on NK; Talking To china..
--Trump Security Ban Commences; Current Admin begins Visa Restrictions On Obama Selected Six Countries.
--High Ranking Vatican Official, Cardinal George Pell, Charged As Serial Sexual Abuser.
--Buffet’s Berkshire About To become BoA’s Top Shareholder.
--Illinois Still hanging By A Thread.
--Walgreens Walks Away from Rite-Aid Merger; Will Buy 2,186 Stores.
--Wildfires Continue To Ravage West.

Yesterday the RI Senatae voted to mandate new costs for businesses in the state. The governor continues to say, “We are making RI good for business again”. It will never happen here until the anti-biz State legislature is replaced completely. The next thing the crazies on Smith Hill approve is an “Adopt a State worker” rule where every business will have to pay the pension tab for a public employee. I hope nobody up in Providence reads this.

Today is National Handshake Day. Purell sales expected to soar!

It was nice to see the IPO of Blue Apron come in lower than expected. It tells me that investors are not in that crazed mood of yesteryear and actually look at the real potential for profitability and longevity. Personally, Blue Apron looks like a difficult enterprise to manage over time, and maybe a fad of the moment.

Maybe Illinois will get a stack of Cigarette lawsuit dollars. It saved RI.

Over time, ISIS will probably lose their biggest Caliphate enterprise, Raqqa, but they will be with us forever. ISIS is more a state of mind with endless borders. Attacks on it fertilizes its growth and determination to conquer. Brain waves move like the wind from continent to continent. Be prepared to look over your shoulder.

As I get older, looking over my shoulder gets harder and harder. I have always preferred looking straight ahead.

Today may be the busiest day in a supermarkets’ year as people rush to stock up for what is looing like a four day picnic for many. I just hope my neighbors aren’t stocking up on fireworks.

The Answer:
Amanda Donahoe won the best supporting actress Golden Globe in 1900-02 for her role as C.J. Lamb in La Law. Sharon Lawrence was nominated for acting Emmy’s often for her role as Sylvia Costas Sipowicz on NYPD. Former “Miss Teenage World, Venezuelan Maria Conchita Alonzo began her career as a song writer and was named a Grammy Winner for “Best Latin Performance”. Several of her songs were top of the charters winners. She acted on Broadway and in many films including Moscow on the Hudson with Robin Williams, Touch and Go, Extreme Prejudice, The Running Man and many others. You have seen her often. Melora Hardin is another of those names you may now remember but who’s face you have seen as she played Jan Levinson on The Office and as Monk’s beloved Trudy.

Say Good-Bye, Harry.

Good bye Granddad. Good-Bye Tids people.

What’s a Tids person, Granddad?
