Music has charms; Music has power.

Today's Tids Issue 3,906
For the Power of Music

All Sunday morning, I just played romantic piano concertos. It’s good for the heart to feel your feet lift off the ground.

Most people are agreeing, even ardent summerists, that this July in the mid seventy degrees around here is about as good as it gets. I would definitely be for global cooling.

There’s way too much classification in this country, the world, today. I’m not just talking about the flagrant use of the hyphenated American syndrome which in effect is a form of discrimination in what is supposed to be a blended country. No, there is a bit of liberalism in the hearts of all and a bit of conservatism in everybody’s mind. Think of the great ideas, the great sensitivity that may be lost through fear of being classified for simply expressing what is right.

And then, there is politics, which makes no sense at all.

The Question:
Chopin even was able to make Jim Carrey look like a wonderful romantic fool. When was that?

I’m glad Venus Williams is looking like she was not responsible for the death of that man. It is a sad tragedy, but it is ow looking like the driver of his car wasn’t paying attention to what was ahead. At least, that’s what the evidence is saying to me. I’m rarely on the defense of a celebrity who done wrong, but I also like the justice for all no matter whether rich or poor. Venus has always struck me as a pretty good person.

Once again, the evidence is growing that most people don’t know what the Word “Impeachment” means. In that news item about “odds for Impeachment”, it was characterized as “Impeached or “Will resign”. Obviously, there is a contradiction in those words as resigned means he’s gone and Impeached means he is indicted to face a Senate Trial, just Like Clinton was and did. But, the misconception is effective in arousing the rabble. That’s what we do now, isn’t it?

“Down with Manspreading” is the new rallying cry up in Massachusetts – and it didn’t come out of the writings of Thomas Paine. But it seems to be creating a furor equal to those noble citizens looking to revolt from the British ownership. Manspreading! Well there is a revolt going on in the Boston subway system where women are objecting to men sitting with their legs askew, perhaps inhibiting another from taking a seat. Here’s an idea that is far simpler than commandeering the attention of an entire community: Kick the gent in the shin, and when he looks up, roll back your jacket to reveal the pistol in your waistband.

The Max Salary race in the NBA is drying up dollars available for key roll players, deep benches. Stars may fill seats, but teams win championships.

(Note: The paragraph below wasn’t entirely finished Friday, but the Send button was pushed before I realized I hadn’t gotten back to complete the idea. Sorry. Hope you weren’t too confused.) :
Some people just do what needs to be done, like Gordon Hartman who put together $17 Million to develop and build a Water Park for use by kids with disabilities. The plan also called for research to create a water proof wheel chair for use in the various colorful park rides and play areas. It's called Morgan's Water Park, inspired by Hartman’s daughter Morgan who felt left out because of her special needs. Hartman says, “while it is designed for fun it is really more about inclusion!”  Everybody knows that there is way too much money around going nowhere. Think of what could be accomplished if the new USA trend in keeping up with the Jones and fellow celebs, athletes and executives wasn’t cars and houses but the good deeds that helped others. Wow, what could we accomplish with a new collective objective in life. This isn’t to say that there aren’t plenty of successful people out there who have big plans for distributing the results of their success around the world, and are doing a great job of it. We know, though, there are thousands of people who could do more, reinvigorate communities, augment hospital capabilities and more, much more. It may put a few architects out of work, but think of what it could do for the rest of the world

People with avowed beliefs only see what they want to see.

How can my CD’s and Bose Radio/CD Player be obsolete when I can still hear the most beautiful music ever written most beautifully?

Low gas prices are killing the environment. Too many people are cluttering beaches and lush country places with themselves and the litter left behind.

The Answer:
In the movie “The Truman Show”, Jim Carey’s eyes met those of Laura Linney in a quiet library. It was a forbidden connection, but Chopin’s 1st Piano Concerto softly underscored the beauty of their feelings, the growing burning desire to be together even as danger threatened to destroy their affection for each other.

We have to get back to realizing that the United Sates of American is far greater than the meanderings of one man; its contributions to the world over time are Immense. We have to get beyond the jealousy of ownership, the empty ideological hatred, the closed minds. We have to work to become closer to one united or America may have a problem being what it has always been. And everybody here and beyond our waters would be sadder for it.

Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor make me think we can still do it.
