Today's Tids Issue 5,863
Look, and see:
Happy August Everybody. It's always been tough to get excited about the eighth month. It kind of just sits there except when you realize that it is the month of the very important VJ Day. Oh, the neighborhood rejoicing I still remember that day in 1945. And each of us probably has a special little August event that is pleasantly seared into our memories. But on the nation calendar August is a month about nothing. Well maybe it is about anticipation, of getting back to school, of fall and football. Of people getting back their towns as tourists leave coastal and mountain lake regions. Of restaurants have in openings for locals again. Today, here at least, August started out on the relative frigid side, which was refreshing way to begin a month that I remember more as as teh monthof endless summer dust and burned-out ballfields. Happy August you all. Make it great.
The new slogan for the USA is “Please Play responsibly". Teh odds are you’ll get my drift.
It is time for the big Lobster Festioval in Rockland Maine. Yes it is a week of lobster everything everywhere, but it doesn’t mean lobster is cheaper.
Oh Nooooo... they are already selling pumpkin spice everything.
The Question:

The Popularity of these mega multi superhero movies means we will probably have them bigger and better with us for a while. Some good crime or international intrigue movies are much better when there is no action.
Things we take for granted now were in the past often mind-blowing innovations and inventions. Today hundreds of thousands got to techno fairs to be amazed at jaw dropping, whiz bang gadgets. But in1873 at the astonishing Columbia Exposision in Chicago droves of gawkers were stunned looking at the new Shredded Wheat biscuit that stole the show. Yes, too often lately we are too harsh criticizing the actions of past generations wheh measured by today's standards.
Actually, we are often too harsh judging the actions of those immersed in a tragic situation as we look at news reports while lounging in our automated recliner with cup holders.
Tomorrow is Saturday and it is still meaningful to me even though I'm not escaping from any weekday burdens.
Trump is going to glitzify the White House ballroom for a cost of $200 Million. Do they still have balls. Or am I just left off the invitation lists.
Little known facts mean a lot to someone. Even if the world at large doesn't give hoot.
Apparently, there is a big national controversy about something called Sidney Sweeny and her Jeans/Genes commercial. Thank God for social media watchdogs... right?
This argument that tariffs will reduce the trade deficit is nonsense. We have a trade deficit because we need stuff from other countries because we don't produce or have it here. And also because Americans spend a lot of money.
A podcast is just the latest communication medium that allows peoole to talk at you.
The Tariff price increase shock will take a while to materialize because many companies stockpiled goods ahead of the Tariff kickoff. But when those reserves dwindle Americans will feel a new pinch.
I think all of the tariffs are high. But of the highest we see countries that are the core of Brics. Those five represent 40% of the world population and could keep their economies going by trading among themselves.
A good reader with a great with has an idea for a new chain of steak houses built on around an Elvis theme. They will be called “Love Meat Tender”.
A 35% tariff on our friendly northern neighbor Canada just doesn't make any sense.
Just when you think you've made it through July relatively unscathed, you have to face a stock market reality day like Today.

The Answer:
Vassar grad Maria Mitchell was the first woman astronomer in the USA. And the first American Scientist male or female, to discover a comet. She is remembered in addition to her discoveries for her work on planetary alignment association that contributed greatly to nautical navigation. She was highly regarded by sailors.
Maria is also known for many thoughtful quotes, but today I like this one: “We have a hunger of the mind which asks for knowledge of all around us, and the more we gain, the more is our desire; the more we see, the more we are capable of seeing.”
What do you see when the music takes you there? Have a great weekend E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
