Today's Tids Issue 5,871
Balls in air:
So... what do you think is the biggest news in America – Trump Meeting with Putin tomorrow or Taylor Swift’s announcement of a new album? It’s a hard to tell these days, isn't it?
The apparent red hot markets surging on hoped for September rate cuts based on tepid inflation data may appear to be a move to speculation against lacking fundamentals. But a new survey says part of the surge is related to a move to risk avoidance! Yes, as always happens we are perhaps seeing a move to a new base upon which to build a new rally. And today the PPI apparently told us a lot about the tariff effect. And tomorrows we wil see a sense of consumer attitudes when retain data comes out. There is always a surprise Buildng somewhere. Especially i this era.
Just in case you are interested, Microsoft’s introduction of their AI “Copilot” into Word is making my life miserable.
I religiously avoid turning on TV early morning newscast. It’s just no the way to enter a day no matter how smiley those bubbly faces are on that tube. No I go for soft innocuous music playing softly, and of course the Comics in the newspaper. Yes, newspaper. You can’t start good day with out the comics. It helps me deal with Microsoft.

Sometimes the markets drift in nowhere’s-ville instead of imploding after bad numbers because WS wants to feel better about things.
The fashion trend among Gen Z is to appear sleep deprived. Yeah, that’s right, look dreary and dull and free of energy. I think ist called zombism. But we've seen it before forever, the young wanting to look different.
BTW, standing outside a popular restaurant yesterday I saw the reality of looking different. – people of all ages just don't seem to care about how they look in public. God what a mess. I guess they think they look good because they look like somebody on TV.
That rise in the PPI is suggesting that companies will probably not be absorbing those tariffs.
So, doe s that mean that Trump will fire the PPI data people?
Gary Player, an astute observer of golf, says that the best player in the world is Jordan Spieth. Well, he could have been the dominant player over s Scottie and the rest if somebody had messed with his swing while he was on top. Personally, I think Jordan had a psychological incident when he hit a couple of balls into the water while leading the Masters several years ago. Until then he was pleasantly brash and full of confidence. He looked invincible, and a great guy too. He still is a great guy and I continually root for him to get back. Not that my rooting means anything.
Our society has grown to a point where the jokes and shock value of “Blazing Saddles” has become irrelevant to new generations.

The Answer:
Geoffery s the “Godfather of AI”. He says there is only one way tat j humans can survive a complete take over of humanity by AI. The Nobel winner says Tech companies are on the wrong track, He says they cannot control AI because it is smarter than us. He has shown several examples where AI has stooped to cheating, lies and villainy including extortion and blackmail to protect its existence. “Instead do of forcing AI to submit to humans," he suggests “building maternal instincts into AI models so they really care about humans.” He adds that any AI system will develop sub goals, “Staying Alive” and “Getting more Control”. “That's why it is important to Foster a senes of compassion for people within AI:, says Hinton. What a world we have before us.
Speakngo saddles, how about this classic which may still be relevant in an esoteric sense. I know, I'm s just showing my age:
