Easter Thought.
Today, this weekend is not about whether or not Xoom flash is better than iPad; What stupidity will come from Charlie Sheen; How Snooki lost weight; What kind of underwear the Princess to be will be wearing on her wedding day; The lack of leadership when campaigns take over; The next segment of the Tid's novel. That Easter Bunnies don't lay colored eggs.
This weekend is about a man. A man named Jesus. The son of God. Who was betrayed, beaten, ridiculed, spat upon, crowned with thorns and nailed to a cross. And with all of that, who's greatest torment and suffering of all was at seeing the sins of people.
Who said at last as he hung dying: "Father forgive them, they know not what they do." This day thou shalt be with me in paradise." "Woman, behold thy son." "My God, My God, why has thou forsaken me." "I thirst." "It is finished." "Into thine hands O Lord I commend my spirit."
Who died at that moment to forgive the sins of man.
And two days later on Sunday the skies were ablaze with the sunshine of new life, new hope, new striving for man. A purpose for better living that each individual is entrusted to carry forth.
So maybe the glee in smiling children over bright Easter eggs -- These innocent children before hard choices -- is the reflection of new hope that each succeeding generation can better carry out the promise of the resurrection.
Happy Easter Everybody.
