Today's Tids Issue

For pollination and jaunty flowers:
Yesterday
was
perfect for me
It was pea soup fog, you see.
Which is like my mind today.
Dense, and entirely gray.
I
think what makes this dinosaur’s head explode more than
just about anything except littering is Political Correctness. I could easily
spend a whole Tids-a-day enumerating such interrelationship tragedies, but
then, my head would explode, and that would be quite messy.
Yesterday
there was an art auction at Christies. It was not your
ordinary art collection. It was that of the Rockefellers and included every celebrity
artist known to humans. – Picasso (Painting went for $150 ml), Matisse, Gaugin,
Degas, Monet…you get the picture! It set a one day, one owner collection sales
record, selling just 44 of the estate’s 150 lots for $644 Million. In case you worry about the idle rich getting more
dough to support idleness, the money is going totally to charities. Let’s hear
it for capitalism.
The
Question:
Volvo, which made its name on the safety of their
cars, has brought its round the world sailing racing to town. Where do you think
Volvo ranks as the safest in the new world of SUVs?

Donald
T probably did the right thing in the way he handled
the Iran quagmire. He sent the warning that he was serious. He gave the allies
a chance to consider alternatives. He kept a campaign promise. Wouldn’t it be
nice if someday the reporting would explore the news on balance instead of
immediately rushing to the negative side. Honestly, I am far from an expert on
this one, because frankly I can’t tell which opinions are pure and honest and
which are self-serving to support some agenda. I do know two things – Human perfection
always has opportunities to improve. And, I do know that the world does not owe
Iran any favors.
I
had to laugh yesterday when a local talk show host said
today he was hoping for the local experts in the RI congressional contingent to
call in with some insights on the Trump Iran decision. Say what? Our four dem
party puppets wrote their insights in last January when Trump was inaugurated.
Insights?
I
enjoy meeting good friends in the supermarket and chatting. Actually,
even more interesting, is finding checkout person who isn’t entirely bored.
What
is even more annoying than PC at large, is the way little
incidents of insane PC are exploded into national debates.
Buy
your Ruger before demand pushes up prices.
Rupert
Murdock is going to be rolling in cash after he sells to Disney
or now maybe Comcast. He won’t sit idly by is yacht fishing off a dock. You can
count on him looking to to establish a new empire, maybe to rival Facebook. Who
knows.
I
see where the alleged Mastermind of the 911 attacks,
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, is joining forces with the Democrats in opposition to
CIA Director nominee Gina Haspel. What better reason to approve her for the job.
The
Answer:
There are lots of Top ten Safest Car Lists, but I picked
the US News and World Report list because it was most concise. #10 is the Acura
MDX. Next is Honda CRV followed by Mazda CX-3, Volvo CX60, Hyundai Santa Fe and
#6 Mercedes-Benz GLE. The next four all received perfect “10’s” and are ranked
as #5 Mazda CX-9, Fiat 500X, BMW X1 and Audi Q7. Happy driving everybody, and but
remember that safe cars don’t allow us mindlessly text without fear?
Too
many people seem to be worried about what somebody else
maybe doing. Too many people think of themselves instead of the broader
community. I would prefer listening to the hum of summer crickets, and the
bells of the ice cream truck motoring down the lane. Or the silence of a no Tids day.
Enjoy
the respite!
