Amen:
A
good man who bought dignity To Washington DC left it the same
way. Yesterday was a beautiful service where you would hope that every American
had stopped for a moment to see, and understand.

There
seems to be a lot of complaints this year about large
neighborhood Christmas light displays. Most surveys on the subject seem
to support the display creator by a wide margin. People generally say they appreciate
the efforts and the expense, and of course, they love to jumping in their cars with
kids and mothers-in-law to drive by these elaborate, tech driven displays growing
throughout the nation. But many have second thoughts as they think about themselves
living in the neighborhood. When they step back, realize how loud mesic, flashing
lights and endless parades of cars passing by could be very disruptive. I expect
there will be laws coming forth setting nightly time limits and noise levels.
So, I’m thinking, maybe we should name these displays “A Thousand Point of
Light,” and have the cars drop some cash into buckets for charities of good standing.
Silent Night, Holy Night.
The
Question:
At The service yesterday, every living VP except one,
from the Carter Admin on was there. Which Admin was missing?

Opportunity
Lost, Department:
Wouldn’t it have been great if all schools chose to
have had their students watch the Bush funeral. It might have given them the
idea that America has not always been about hatred and anger all of the time.
It may have inspired them through the love and feelings shown among so-called
powerful adults. Yup, it would have been a great civics class, and perhaps also
a look at life in a way they may not have ever experienced.
Call
me
Pollyanna.
You
have to think that last fall the NFL schedule makers looked at
Tonight’s Jacksonville/Tennessee game as a winner. The Titans were an up and
coming team with a good QB, and would pe playing a Jags team that went down to the
wire against the Pats last year. But, something happened on the way to tonight.
Jax has fallen off the earth and Tenn sometimes shows up and sometimes doesn’t.
Now it is only a tough pic between two teams who probably won’t make it. Tenn still
has a little hope in a tight division, and are at home. I’ll pick them, reluctantly.
So that starts a new week of picking after what felt like a disaster week 13 with
a few unimaginable upsets like Arizona over GB at Home. 10-6 brings the resilient
Tids Pickers to 117-72-2.
There
are a number of tough picks this week. Some are because they
are between two good teams playing each other for something, some are big rival
games and the rest are between mediocre teams with no shot, but somebody has to
win. Patriots need to win out, but Miami has interrupted their dreams often in
the past. This year, I think the Pats will make it. The Pack lacks and the Falcons
are great at finding ways to lose. I just don’t know here. But I’ll pick the home
team GB. The Texans and Colts are playing for the division, but I’m beginning to
love Houston. The Skins are really hurting and the Giants are below mediocre.
The Skins are actually in the race. What to do. What to do. I’ll go Skins. Another
Division rivalry that means nothing and could go either way is between two
teams with no chance Bills and Jets. I just like the Bills better. The Panthers
have truly sucked lately and the Browns continue to play well. Probably a loser
pick, but I go Browns. The Ravens[RH1]
now have their own running QB a to match up with “The Sensation”, Mahomes. KC
is at home and should win this one. But… The Eagles are trying to put it together,
and they must to win against an improving Cowboys in this tussle which could be
for all the NFC East marbles. The Rams and Bears – hmmm. Trubisky is back and the
Bears are in Comfortable Chi-Town. Could this be the upset of the week? I think
it can. The Seahawks and Vikes both need to win this one. But I like where the
Seattle team is now, and they are home. Seattle.
Of
the rest, I have Detroit over the Cardinals still too high
after upsetting GB last week. Steelers over the Raiders in a game that may be tougher
than it looks. The Chargers will trample the Bengals and the Broncs will buck
the Niners. I’m saying the Saints halos will shine again against another of those
teams that shows up one week and then takes a nap, Tampa Bay. So, that is it this
week as the field narrows down for the playoffs.
Do
you think we’ll ever elect a silent/quiet thoughtful President again?
One
of the reasons I liked President GHW Bush, is because I viewed
him as a Republican of the type I knew Republicans to be.
You have to figure that
a lot of media lightweights spent of most of their Bush service viewing looking
for Trump doing something wrong. Maybe they
should have listened to the message.
RI
just unveiled a disastrous student test score report.
Somehow it became public just after the end of the elections. How odd.
Seems
like
should have had more to say this morning. But then, saying little makes you appear

They
should sing The Lord’s Prayer in public more often.
The
Answer:
The VP for the Reagan Admin was not there…live.
