Today's Tids Issue 5,369.5
Before the Negativity:
Well, yesterday there wasn’t much of a Tids so maybe this finishing up issue 5,369 will uncover some gems.
I was a little concerned yesterday morning when I read of Putin announcing he would not participate in START – the nuke treaty. He or his people quickly added they are talking about a new version and the Russia ministry quickly said, “it would respect the caps on nuclear weapons set in the treaty.” I think that reaction shows the tenuousness, the fragility of world peace today. Russia doesn’t want a nuke to attack any more than we do. But unfortunately, the nuke card is being played more often than usual today, and all it takes are less responsible participants like Iran and NK, and boom.
I lost my job at the bank on my very first day. A woman asked me to check her balance, so I pushed her over.
The Question:
43 years ago today, Americans raised big red, white and blue flags and were damn proud of it.

My Congressman David Ciciline is resigning to take on a big job here as CEO of the Rhode Island Foundation, which is the premiere philanthropic organization dedicated to people of RI. How can this former mayor of Providence who left the city in financial ruin before running off to Congress be expected to run this foundation that must work on business principles without the convenience of having the ability to create money when needed out of nothing.
Commentater: An everyday potato.
I really don't like the current world situation at all. Oh, I could get caught up in the latest celebrity crisis or woke emergency at home. But what really bothers me are things like the Russia/China alliance, a substantial anti American of power. An Australian authority says for his country it is almost imperative to form a strategic military alliance between the UK, US and Australia. ‘Part of the thought process is that India, also a nuke power, would prefer to be on the UK/US/A side for economic growth but they certainly don’t war with their neighbors. Geopolitics are about as sticky, unpredictable and as dangerous as I have seen them in decades.
Meanwhile, back home we are trying to build a military to woke standards
Is there anything inaner than a celebrity interview?
It says that Apple TV’s growth has flatlined. I would expect that almost all of these new streaming ventures will flat line. First, there are only so many decent shows upon which these streamers can use to entice new viewers. After that, they all just have the same problem and enormous cost of producing new shows that may or may not entice everybody or nobody. Basically, they all rushed int a new adventure and they still all have to share the same pie made up of fickle American viewers.

There is nothing personal injury lawyers would like better than for the Supreme Court rules against Google in the current case over the Section 230 of the Communicaitons Decency Act. As Elena Kagan said, lawsuits will become a way of life in the USA, because anybody can always find a way they may have been injured by words. Invest your money in law schools.
I’ve been asked to run for Cicilini’s Congressional seat. But to win in this district, I'd have to change to a Democrat. Then, I’d be like all politicians – disingenuous.
Today John Williams of the NY Fed will reaffirm its commitment to keep raising rates until they reach 2% inflation. Hmmm. That kind of feels like forever.
What did one blade of grass say to another about the lack of rain? A. I guess we'll just have to make dew.
I believe that China is the biggest issue in the world today, and we are sitting on one end of a seesaw wondering what China will bring to the other end next.
Remember when a big problem was static on a family radio?
The Answer:
It was at the Winter Olympics and the upstart Americans were matching goal for goal against the highly favored mighty Russian team in ice hockey. It was tense all the way until Mike Eruzione, the USA captain, rushed in and scored the winning goal, The arena, and living rooms across America erupted. Nobody will ever forget USA goalie Jim Craig skating around the rink wrapped the American flag. It was a day.
I remember days like that. Days when America rose to its greatest self. When we all joined together, and minor disputes were left for another day. I remember the day WWII ended and all the kids ran around the block screaming unrestrained. Because even then we all knew of and appreciated the valor of the men and women who fought for us. We’ve got to start remembering the triumphs again.
