On hope alone.

Today's Tids Issue 5,878

Finally:

Like it or not, NVidia has been a major ingredient in the bullish tendencies of the market this summer, But the markets await – will te emperor still be wearing clothes when their Earings are reported after the Bell on Wednesday. Yes, it is about NVidia all over again this week.

What I'm not liking is an America with US army troops in the streets of our cities. Holy South Sudan, Batman.

A good friend of mine tells me that the company that produces yardsticks won’t be making them any longer.

Smiling yet?

Tommy Fleetwood is after being competitive in 164 PGA events without winning he won yesterday much to the delight of the crowds there and on TV, and his fellow players. Sometimes good things happen to great guys. Oh, and he got a check for $10 Mil too.

The Question:

What are movie director Ron “Opie” Howard's five best pictures?

The Headlines:

--Markets Opens Lower as Shadow of NVidia Looms; Furniture Stoskcs Slip as Trump Sets date for Announcement of Furniture Tariffs.

--Ukraine Drone Attack Stikes Russian Nuclear Plant; Ukraine Was Celebrating 34th Anniversary of Freedom from Soviet Block.

--Israel Blasts Gaza Ahead of Planned Assault and Occupation; 5 Journalists Among 20 Killed.

--In his Latest revenge Moment, Trump Threatens Chris Chirstie with Reopening Bridgegate Investigation.

In case you missed it, a new poll tells us that the most hated food by Americans is the Anchovy.

Just in case you want to run and hide in a cave somewhere, in less than two weeks this spot in Tids will be occupied by the TidsPickers for 20 or so weeks. Fair warning!

Serena Williams has been gushed over by media for coming out to say she uses a weight loss drug. Yeah, sure. It looks to me like the start of a PR campaign to make these drugs seem more buyable without prejudice.

The Cracker Barrell Bruhaha is the latest example of how a much ado about nothing can paralyze a society. What a waste of time.

Remember that old Publishers Clearing House ad that said, “You might have won...”? That's what Powell said Friday abut September rate reductions. Prepare for a pullback.

OMG, the end of this week begins Labor Day Weekend. In the east at least, it seemed like a pretty mild summer. Most of the heat was generated by weather people trying establish a fact that we here were all suffering from weather. And some people believed them.

A friend of mine was in Phoenix last week where it was 114 degrees. Of course, down there they always say, "But its dry heat.” He said, Yeah sure, like being roasted slowly in a pizza oven.

Weather comes and weather goes. Always does. Haven’t you noticed.

I have given up following the Kilmar Abrego Gacia story months ago. But there it lies, every day, every hour.

But I enjoy reading every day stories about the Red Sox mastery over the Bronx n bombers, and this week beating those dreaded pinstripers in meaningful games 3 of 4 times in their Bronx home field was exhilaration for sure.

TV compaies boasting about new streaming capabilities don’t know just how annoying they are to many tried and true tube watchers.

Younger generations don't know why I said “Tube”.

I'm hoping nest year that “The Gilded Age” is shot in the electric bulb era so we can see what is happening in those dark and dreary rooms.

The Answer:

It's quite a line up: Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, Frost Nixon, Cinderella Man, Splash,< Parenthood, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Davinci Code, Willow and Rush.

Here's one for Tommy Fleetwood. (How obvious am I?)
