A good start:

Today's Tids Issue 5,914

Accentuate it:

Hostages released. I feel the joy in the hearts of those who now see and feel the fresh air again, and the love in the eyes of those who waited.

The markets basically mini-crash Friday was due the news of more tariff nonsense. It just shows us what uncertainty can do to a  marketplace that works best within free market economics and under responsible stewardship.

You know you’re getting old when you have trouble tearing duct tape which generally means that your days of repairing household damages are about over.

Was out grilling in the Noreaster last night. Food just taste better when you work at it.

The Question:

Experts in many cases know about as much as you and I. They just have a microphone or a printing press Here's an exercise I did over the weekend. The AP Preseason top Ten College football poll had te top ten as Texas, Penn State, Ohio State, Clemson, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oregon, Alabama, LSU snd Miami. Where do you think they rank today?

The Headlines:

--Hostages Released; Israel Returns Hamas Prisoners; Trump Speaks Briefly of New Era of Peace .and moves onto Egypt Summit on Peace Minus Israel and Hamas Representatives

--Trump Pumps the Brakes on China Tariff Talk; Markets rebound. --Global Central Bankers to Meet in DC to Discuss New Concerns over Bubble Warnings.

--Columbus Day Celebrations in North East feel like the Stormy deck of the Santa Maria; Rains and Winds Halting Festivals and Keeping People by Fireside.

--Hillary Joins in Chorus Praising Deal to return Hostages and Move Towards Peace.

---2 Mass Shootings over the weekend, one in St Helena SC Bar Scene and another at Leland Miss HS Homecoming Kill 8 and Wound 32, many Critical.,

--Danish Government Takes Control of China Owned Chip maker, Nexperia

--Trump Says He might give Ukraine Tomahawk Missiles; Former Russia Prez Medvedev Says if so, it would End Bad for Everybody

--Nobel Economics Prize Goes to Three for Work on the Power of Innovation: Danish Born Joel Mokyr at Northwestern U, Philippe Aghion at College de France and Insead; Canadian Peter Howitt at Brown U in Little Ole’ Rhode Island.

I'm reading a lot lately about the coming of quite a hefty increase in the cost of Medicare Part D drug prices and premiums. Now its choice between rising restaurant prices and taking drugs to keep you healthy enough to go to restaurants.

Is it me, or are there a lot of helicopters falling out of the sky lately. They don’t land peacefully. It appears the culprit based on my limited knowledge is the rapid disintegration of the Tail Rotor system which renders the craft uncontrollable even for the greatest of pilots. So, the cause is about bad parts, bad manufacturing or bad inspection of the two above Its the same reason refrigerators don’t last a lifetime. Cost reductions...

On te other hand, I have also seen a huge increase in automobiles crashing into homes and businesses. That is most probable human error. Like perhaps smoking pot, looking at a phone or even innocently spending too much time changing a radio station on the car computer screen. It couldn't just be a general malaise among pampered people could it.

I’d consider getting a membership to Costco just for the opportunity to buy their croissant bread.

I wanted to be an economist when I was an eager younger lad. The new Nobel prize was for explaining how innovations provide impetus for further progress. Say what! If that is the bar, I'm thinking of applying for the next prize. I have lots of economic theories in my gut, no data, but for sure, provocative theories.

I had the feeling yesterday that a couple of the refs in the NE-NO game were in a a little too deep with Fan Dual. There a lot of silly fouls called yesterday. And others that had no significance in the play.

Now, how do we bring peace across a divided America. Frankly I think itis more peaceful than the headlines and the screamers want it to appear.

The way costs of living out a life are going now, it could take a million a year to retreat to a retirement place in 30 years from now. Don’t worry fifty somethings, AI will fix it.

The Answer:

Texas is #21, Penn State is out of the top 25 and just fired their coach. Ohio State is number 1. Clemson is out of top 25. Georgia is 9. Notre Dane is 13. Oregon is now 8 after falling from last week’s #2. Alabama is back to 6 after a bad start that dumped them out of the top 25. LSU is 10 and Miami is #2. FYI, the rest of the Top Ten is now Indiana - 3, Texas A&M – 4, Ole Miss – 5 and Texas Tech #7. Yeah, I do have a lot of time on my hands now that I don't do duct tape chores.

It’s grey here today and will be tomorrow, but that reminds me that with a bright heart you can get through just about anything. Some days you just have to dig down a little deeper to find the glow. See you all tomorrow.
