For Dancin':
I
like that old Motown beat
That gets us movin’ on our feet.
Gets up and down aprancin’
Hands araisin’, crazy dancin’;
The uninhibited sensation
Of pure, mindless jubilation!
More
and more I’m thinking that moviemakers make the movies for
themselves.
I
still find it hard to read stories of Sears imminent decline.
Sears, for crissakes -- The “Amazon” of its era, that brought American goods to
the hinterlands and the innerlands. The company that built its own superior
brands like Craftsman and Kenmore. A company that would deliver a complete
house kit of 12,000 pieces with a 75 page instruction book and the guarantee
that “A man of average abilities could build it in 90 days”. A place where you
can still find a great variety of great quality products. But, nobody goes
there anymore. And, it is going to die. It is a crying shame. All I can say is,
they must have had crappy management to blow it this bad.
50,000
people died from drug overdose last year. That’s
fifty thousand people who essentially killed themselves. It just breaks my
heart thinking of the helplessness of all these people trapped in their own
webs. Is the killer drug situation going to get any better with states rushing
to Pass MJ laws? I’m sitting here seeing darkness.
The
Question:
In honor of Mick Jagger’s new child, who just
happens to be younger than his Great Grand Child!, I ask what do think are
considered the tip 10 Rolling Stone Songs. (Lust compiled in survey of Rolling
Stone Magazine readers.

Somehow,
the picture of Helen Mirren on the cover of AARP
Magazine makes her look 10 years older. Maybe it’s just mental transference.
Three
thousand, seven hundred and fifty issues. That feels like
something.
There's
a rumor going around town that some locals are planning a fundraiser
that would pit Newport surfer and NSA nominees Mike Flynn against a bare
chested Vladimir Putin in an internationalist surf-off right here on our
beaches. Surfboard diplomacy.
“Crying
Wolf” is slowly being replaced by “Crying Racist” as
the term for empty fears! Has any term lost so much meaning so fast? Over in
England, a shop that sells everything British has been deemed racist, for what
I have no idea. I guess groups just don’t like pride in heritage. The more I
hear ideologues slurring people for being who they are, the further up the
flagpole I will hoist my American flag.
I
write the Tids pretty fast. I spend most of my time going back
to correct typos. Thank God for red underlining.
What’s
going to happen to the market when Trump runs out of
cabinet picks that Wall Street likes, and Yellen starts raising rates to reign
if the exuberating? That is the next big question.
Did
you see that video of the Bill Clinton speech where he warned
of the growing problems from “Illegal Aliens”?1996 SOTU: “Let me be very clear
about this: We are still a nation of immigrants and we should e very proud of
it. We should honor every legal immigrant here, working hard to become a new
citizen But, we are a nation of laws.” And: “We are increasing border patrols
by 50 percent. We are increasing inspection to prevent the hiring of illegal immigrants.
And tonight, I announce I will sign an executive order to deny federal business
to companies that hire illegal immigrants.”
The
confusion about immigration has a lot to do with the left’s
success in merging illegal and legal together and with a complicit press giving
the misinformation credibility. Neither Trump nor Bill Clinton or no other rational
politician ever talked about anything different than normal US immigration
policies. Wait a minute, did I just infer that Trump was a rational politician?
I
believe love can be the elixir for a lot of ills as
well as elations. But as strong as love can be, an addict can always find in
their smothering world excuses not to grasp onto it.
A
lot of people are saying they voted to legalize
marijuana mainly to raise new income for state governments. O great, just what
we need to abet these growing mini empires, more money to waste. How many of
you think it will come back to the people in lower taxes?
Music
can
be a happy drug. Music can push drugs out of control.
Reading
Between the Lines Movie Reviews:
(Note: I often go to various critics to get the
impression of the movies, But, I think in the future I will rely more on
surveys of audiences. I named this Tids Section originally “reading between the
lines,” because there was always something critics were saying but wasn’t
always in there. Critics push stuff subtly often overlooking pure entertainment
value for some films. And, overrate boredom. But, the people go to enjoy and
react to what they like or don’t like. Or, something like that!)
--The Critics love La La Land and so do audiences. It’s
an old-fashioned musical about poor, struggling musician boy meets poor
struggling actress girl, how come together and then don’t and then do again,
all to contemporary music with meaningful lyrics.
--Miss Sloane is all about Jessica Chastain’s excellent
performance as no-nonsense, powerful lobbyist. It gives us a great insight into
that mysterious Washington world, which many say runs the country. It seems
good, although it may deteriorate in to an anti-gun harangue. I will go though,
and hiss if it does.
I’d go to see Manchester-By-The-Sea mainly because I
think MBTS is one of my favorite prettiest towns in New England. It’s a critics
fave and well liked generally. It’s about a Boston janitor wo returns to this
small home town to care for a teenage nephew. It’s all about the working class
family living in this fishing village for generations, either laughs and heartaches
and triumphs.
The
Answer:
#10 is Angie. Moving forward we have “Tumbling
Dice’, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”, “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking”,
“Jumpin’ Jack Flash”, “Wild Horses”, “(I Can’t Get No ) Satisfaction”, “Paint
It Black”, “Sympathy For The Devil” and.. at #1 “. Gimme Shleter”. What
happened to Ruby Tuesday, Brown Sugar, 19th Nervous Breakdown, Let’s
Spend the Night Together”. I guess that’s what happens when you let the
“experts” pick the songs.
Rolling
Stone Magazine’s 40th best All Time Song is
Martha and the Vandellas and “Dancin’ in the Streets”. It is a favorite of mine,
and I thought it a good way to get through the super cold weekend
“O
yeah, the Mag’s #1 All Timer was Dylans “Like a Rolling
Stone’”
Have
a good one…E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!
Now,
let’s
