Today
is National Ugly Sweater Day, just in case you
can’t make up your mind on what to wear to dinner tonight.
Senator
Rubio throws out the first pitch as hardball comes in
earnest to the Capital building. From what I can see, this tax bill is far from
being “reform”, but Senators like Rubio and others are using The Presidents
aggravated commitment to passage combined with the approaching deadline, to get
something for his and their middle-income constituencies and special interests
before voting yes. Just business as usual, but media likes frightening headlines.
Too

When
you think about it, parking is generally more expensive
than an Uber or Lyft ride to and from a local event.
There
is a high correlation between the increased warnings of high risk

I’ve
been looking forward to the final season of FX’s “The
Americans”. It is loaded with unanswered questions and conflicting potential
endings. But now after the Fox sale to Disney, the big question is will the new
owner turn it into a fairy tale?
The
left beat up on Taylor Swift for saying on her birthday
that she had a very good year. The left apparently prefers misery.
A
very credible and knowledgeable expert on the Middle East
tells me that the new “Axis of Evil” is Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia? you say. Why the new chief Arab is a saint, isn’t he? That’s been how he has been portrayed lately
in the media. I’ll have more on this as I get involved. But, my friend suggests
the gullibility of Americans often hides reality.
A
Christmas elf that can sing is a wrapper.
Why
do they call the home of congress “The Capital”, instead
of home of the President? Because that’s what makes the USA different and
better. The Congress is the representatives of the people, the elected group of
people from states and districts around the country who oversee the actions of
the executive officials. Sometimes people forget, including presidents, that
the FBI, HHS, Defense and all of the agencies of the executive branch are
beholden to the oversight of Congress. Maybe Congress gets a bad rating because
they are doing the right thing holding up action of run-away executives and
military, and more. I know all of you who read this morning mess are aware of
this, but sometimes I get the feeling when reading the news reports that some
people with opinions have no clue about who’s in charge in this country.
I
have been wanting to see that movie Three Billboards
Outside Ebbing Missouri that has been playing at a theater 47 steps from my
front door. Now it has been nominated for a lot SAG awards, and simultaneously
left the theater for who knows where. I’ve got to get organized.
Lately
the FBI has been resisting giving the Congress committee
info on all of the texts and emails revolving around Russia, Hillary bias and
more. And, the FBI is totally wrong.
A
Christmas tree that sings, is Spruce Springsteen.
I
think the WH admin is divided between rabid right wingers
and moderates. I’m thinking that Tillerson is certainly a Repub moderate and
the more right leaning influential people in the back rooms you never hear
about (Perhaps Bannon acolytes) are out to get him. I believe it would be a
mistake.
Research
has proven that the worst companies and probably
governments and non-profit agencies, are those where everybody is the same.
Some
conservative financial seers are saying the Nasdaq will be up
16% by next summer. That is, if we aren’t in war with NK or worse.
Just
because Bitcoin includes the word “Coin”, it doesn’t mean it is

I
believe that Murdock came out just fine in his sale of some of
his Fox properties to Disney for $52Bil.
The
left is against the demise of Net Neutrality, not because it
may harm consumers, but because it could reduce the power of the forums for
uncontrolled anti-Americanism.
Seasons’
Greetings from salt, pepper, nutmeg and thyme.
Higher
minimum wages not tied to productivity improvement is
basically simply, unrestrained inflation.

Between the Lines Movie Reviews:
--Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens today and there is
no doubt that will do well. Not only that, but it is a terrific move too, at
least te critics think so. Oddly, audiences are not raving. It has memebrs of
the resistance traveling wide and afar to find the Galactic legends to aid in
their battles. In addition to finding the old characters, shocking mysteries of
the past are revealed.
--The Animated feature of the weekend, Ferdinand, is
very good, but not up critics desires for contradictions. In other words people
like me will enjoy it without having to wrestle with social messages. The great
bull, after being mistakenly captured as an unwanted dangerous beast, is
determined to return home and he begins his adventure with a rag tag team of
misfits. Well, maybe there is a message after all, but ‘m not looking for it.
--The Ballad of Lefty Brown is an old western about
a man, Lefty, who witnesses the murder of his friend and Senator. He sets out
to avenge his friend’s death, tracking bad guys through bad lands. But alas,
after a gunfight with the killers, Lefty learns that he has been accused of his
friends murder and must now expose powerful men to prove his innocence. Looks
good tome.
--In Beyond Skyline, the population of Los Angeles
is vacuumed off the face of the earth! Say what? Hero sets out to find his son.
Sounds weird to me.
