For back to basics:
Well,
it’s August. Aside from that fact that several people
I like were born in it, and it kicks off with VJ Day, you could probably sleep
through it, missing nothing waiting for September. Of course, then there is the
fact that VJ day is in August is not celebrated nationally which tells you all
you need to know about the last vacation month of summer. It’s the no energy
month. It’s a blur. I feel tired and my golf game goes downhill. I spend a lot of
time asking restaurant owners whet kind of deals they will have for the locals in
the Winter after the tourists leave. A positive answer is pretty much the height
of the excitement for sleepy August. Hope transcends ennui. It’s not totally
bad though, as football becomes more active and the grass seems to rejuvenate as
the days grow shorter.
“Improve
your memory by doing unforgettable things.”
Almost
daily I hear people overusing the unique USA concept
of “Freedom”. The latest was from the sometimes-confusing rant of the guy who
put up on the net those plans for producing 3D printed guns. He and the majority
who doth protest too much of intrusions on freedom, forget the other half of
the formula -- responsibility. Yes, the USA does offer freedoms unlike any other
country. But it has worked for hundreds of years because most were responsible
when employing the sacred standard. Similarly, Capitalism works very well, when
those who are involved are prepared to bear the consequence of risk taking. Capitalism
with over investment bailouts is not capitalism at all.Am I confusing premises here?
People
will go to any event that has the word “Festival” in it.
Thanks
for explaining the word “Many” to me. It means a lot.
The
Question:
Who would you consider to be the most trustworthy Celebrities?
In other words, to which stars would you feel comfortable telling secrets?

One
thing that the press could do to help the public discourse
is to honestly analyze all political hyperbole, instead of going along with some
and rejecting other. In other words, just do what a reasonable, responsible
journalist would do – put BS in perspective.
It
must have been Tuesday because the mail was useless.
Has
Apple become an unstoppable juggernaut? It looks like they
have successfully made the transition for balanced growth opportunities considering
the rate of growth for their services businesses.
The
Five Top Cable News Programs are Hannity, Tucker
Carlson, Rachel Maddow, Laura Ingraham and The Five. The Top five cable Networks
are Fox News, MSNBC, H&G, USA And History Channel. CNN is number 23 in the
latest all station ratings. Sometimes reality belies publicity.
If
Netflix is so great, how come I’m watching less of it? Or, maybe
it’s movies and TV shows that aren’t so great.
Prices
of consumer goods used to be based more or less on
supply and demand. Now it is basically demand – demand from shareholders and
Wall Street who require upward growth in revenue to sustain stock prices. Classic
example is Coke, where it seems that people are drinking less but prices keep
on going up.
Judge
Ellis in the Manafort case pretty much answered the
Prosecution rhetoric centered around the accused spending habits with, “It’s
not a crime to be rich”. He also noted tat it appears to him that the main reason
Manafort is on trial is to get Trump. Now I would out a lock in my before allowing
Manafort to enter my room, but from what I saw yesterday, they are trying to convict
him mainly though slanderous innuendo. It’s all about The Big Squeeze and PM is
the big orange.
Another
new TV effort I don’t need to watch any more is “Joys of making
it” starring Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman. Poehler and Offerman fans will probably
be far more accepting than I, I who have never laughed that much along with
Amy.
I
just burned up 2,000 calories. That’s the last time I
take a nap while baking brownies.
My
personal belief is that “The Wall” would end up being the
most expensive White Elephant in world history. The best wall would be to eliminate
all possibilities of automatic free stuff for all of those who break the law to
enter the US.
Mama
Mia 2 would be better if they had more singers in the cast instead
of celebrities. I thought that of Mama Mia 1, too. I liked the stage versions
far better than the film.
“Maybe
if we start telling people their brain is an app, they’ll
start using it.”
Let
me see if I have Kroger’s logic correctly. The company
announced a new grocery delivery program at the same time they eliminated a
payment method for half their consumers. Is that about it?
“If
you are looking for that one person who can change your
life, look in the mirror.”
When
you think about it, Netflix is basically a video distributor,
with an expensive production unit on the side.
The
Answer:
To be honest I would feel uncomfortable telling any
celeb I was conservative. Number One is Tom Hanks followed by Maggie Smith and
Morgan Freeman. Next we have Betty White, Sally Field, James Earl Jones,
Michael J. Fox, Patrick Stuart, Ron Howard, Hugh Jackman, Henry Winkler, Sandra
Bullock, Meryl Streep, Denzel Washington and at #15 Emma Watson. Gary Sinise
was #37, if you get my drift.
Think
of all the laws we wouldn’t need; how superior
arrogance would disappear, if all were guided by the simple principal of responsibility.
It’s
always a good idea to make friends with babies. That’s
free cakes once a year for a lifetime.
