Today's Tids Issue 6,020
Do me a Fava:
I;s “Z” day around here. Zeppoles are everywhere, from vanilla cream filled to Ricotta and today to contemporary healthy fillings. Not that health should be a consideration when eating these heavenly fried pastry delicacies. Yeah, today is all about Saint Joeseph's day and Italian heritage. Yet, I don't remember reading about zeppoles in the bible.
Today begins in earnest the run for the big March Madness prize. My school Lehigh made it into the dance but only to a play-in game against Prairie View, and we lost. I was thinking, “Prairie View. Now there is a school where you know what you get when you matriculate, -- a view of a prairie. Sounds relaxing.
The Iran war is looking messier. The stock markets aren't liking it as they are again down after a little hope earlier in the week. It's become one of those age-old problems Wall Street typically hates, no consistent information
You can't believe everything you hear, but you can repeat it.
The Question:
Why is March 19, Saint Joseph Day generally considered mainly an Italian day?

It was comforting to me to read what Chief Justice Roberts said: “The notion of Supreme Court Justices carrying out the agenda of the presidents who appointed them is absurd." It tells me that :Checks and Balances still has a chance. It is one of the foundations of our country that will always make it great. Though. Liberal justices seemvto be less inclined to follow a broader conscience.
I find that people enjoy the lightness, tastebud bursting flavor of lemony chicken. Try this. You’ll need boneless, skinless chicken breast, garlic powder, flour, Olive Oil and Butter, chix broth and Lemon juice and zest, Tip: Slice breasts in half lengthwise. Dredge in garlic powder, S&P and flour. Pan fry in oil and some of the butter until golden. Remove to plate. To skillet add broth, lemon juice and zest and rest of butter. Let it bubble a few minutes and return chix. Reduce heat to simmer and let the chicken cook though. The sauce will reduce. Put on plate and top with parsley. Pretty damn simple for achieving all that deliciousness.
I’d like to report and comment more on Pop culture. But I don't understand it. Most of the gossip quips are overblown news of trivial and silly events events/ A lot of it dramatizing daily happenings which in fact real people live every day.
I went to an antique auction the other day. They bid on me.

Baseball season opens a week from today. Two Sox stars were acclaimed for their play in the WBC – Roman Anthony for the USA and Wilyer Abreu for the champion Venezuela.
By the way, I haven’t heard anything about Vendaval in over a month. Isn’t it interesting how urgent news can drift into nothingness.

The Answer:
In Medieval Sicily legnd says that Sicilians prayed to Saint Joseph to end a devastating drought and famine. Upon being saved they created a massive feast of gratitude called the “Saint Joseph's Table”. The food was also shared with the poor as part of the thanks tradition on March 19. And it continues here to this day since Sicilians brought the day to America in late 19th Century Because of lent meats is not included, but it does use fava beans and bread which originally saved them. And of course, zeppoles.
I thought this was a nice way to end the Tids today.
