Black Robes matter

Today's Tids Issue 4,763

One Week:

I like having Amy C-B on the Court. Too bad her vote had to come during the political morass. I think she is a good and rational choice. If not for the Big Split, she most like would have had support from many fair-minded Dems. Over time the left leaning justices have been more legislative than the right leaning. that’s just a fact. l think that Amy knows firmly that Judges so do not make the law, a function which she understands is the sole domain for Congress.

Everybody, from the highest and exalted to the everyday person struggling on the bottom, knows something that nobody else knows. Just in case you ever have this feeling to look down on somebody

I’m thinking I need a chip slit in my masks. Just for those times when the urge for a salty snack arises.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t have an unsettling week or so on the street until election confusion finally comes to an end

The Question:

Who is Fran Lebowitz?

The Headlines:

-- Dow Down Third day; Caterpillar, 3M, Pizer Earnings Show Up Well; Strong techs Have Nasdaq Higher

--China Economy To Hit New Low.

--Amy Coney-Barrett Becomes USA’s 115 SC Justice.

--Judge Rules That US Justice Department Back Off Defending Trump In Jean Carroll Rape defamation Case.

Sports TV ratings are lower than ever. How can that be when Covid challenged lives are looking for entertaining outlets. But game One of the NBA championship was way down, the NHL hocket finals had a 13 year low and even Mighty Football is down about 12%. Prepare for the big arguments about why they are down.

Testicle: A humorous question on an exam.

Alibaba’s IPO for unit Ant Group is Bigger than Finland’s GDP. The tech companies are countries. Don’t Laugh.

One of the problems with truth is that people with opposite opinions may think the truth is biased.

I doubt if I will miss anything if I turn off the news for a week and a half.

Will Covid disappear if Joe Biden gets elected?

The Answer:

Fran Leibowitz is a contributing author for Vanity Fair, but is best known or her outspoken sardonic social commentary. She has appeared as social wit n Letterman, Mahar and many other shows. She is known for fighting a war against NYC gentrification. You may not agree with her, but she says things in a way that may make you laugh and make you think. One of her better known quates: “If feminism really worked, there wouldn’t be feminism any more.” She is an avowed deep liberal democrat who basically hates republicans and is not so fond of Bill Clinton either, but loves Hillary.

Strange Q, you might say. But this day when Amy gets the nod, I thought you might like to know a little about the other end of the spectrum.

The world is full of everybody.

Oozing Out

Managing Political Agitation:

I decided to be inert this weekend. I think that the USA needs a National Day of Inertness once a month.

Sunday was always like a calming day. Remember how families came together that one day each week. How great was the laughter, and all the comfortable love, not necessity overt, but innately there in the harmony? Every Sunday was like a holiday without tourists and special events. The day was set aside for church and If you liked it you got positive feelings there. And even if you half listened you were reminded of some sensible standards for life that made it better for everybody. Maybe I’m old fashioned to think of pleasant days of the past.  But then maybe Old fashion is due for a comeback. Maybe Kids will find that Dad can be funnier than TikTok, and that Mom is her own food channel. And that brothers and sisters are great to talk to live. That maybe we don’t have to video everything because memories of love, and everything that revolves around love, are so indelible.

Hey I know everything isn’t perfect for lots of people, but if you dream of perfection maybe you’ll be able to achieve a good percentage of it.

The NE Patriots were far from perfection yesterday. Ouch!

All Wall Street really cares about is a decisive victory one way or another.

Frisbeetarianism: The belief that, when you die, your Soul flies up onto the roof and gets stuck there in the gutter.

The Question:

Who do you think are The Top 10 Artists of All Time? Bonus: What are considered the top 10 works of art of all time? Extra Bonus: Who are considered the Top ten Contemporary Artists?

While all eyes are directed to tedious debates. the most important stage featuring the Us Senate is boiling. Today, there is a distinct possibility that the Senate will be 50—50 which makes Kamala Harris the deciding vote on everything for four years. If that’s not enough to scare us into voting for anybody running for Republican Senator, then the USA is as become The United States of Apathy.

Flatulence: Emergency vehicle that picks you up after you are run over by a steamroller.

You can create logic to support just about anything. And you can always find groups willing to accept premises built on faulty logic. The problem today is that as the populations soar, what used to be small demographic activist groups have become voices loud enough to be heard broadly.

And then they get a photog cropping in on a small crowd picture to make look like a revolutionary movement and the silent majority fades into the background.

For 120 years at the University of Texas, they have been singing “The Eyes of Texas are Upon You” at all special campus events. Now it’s racist and somebody wants it stopped.

The music of Sibelius is good for a day of inertness. He makes you feel you are somewhere, but nowhere where somebody will bother you.

Pokemon: A Rastafarian proctologist.

Now that big malls look like they are in a rapid demise scenario, we could give Sunday back to the people as a day of reflection to rediscover what is so good about just being nowhere but home.

Kamala Harris in control of the Senate. Double Yikes!

Aside from the financial implications, the Ant Group IPO is very interesting because it is another indicator of economic power shifting. One of The USA’s Achilles heels has been for decade that nobody can catch us. It’s called arrogance and I would call it one of Businesses seven deadly sins.

The Answer:

Obviously, many who know art will debate an all-time list like this. But Here goes: #10 is Paul Cezanne and he is followed up the ladder by an Vermeer, Auguste Renoir and Pablo Picasso. The top five are #5 Claude Monet, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Vincent Van Gogh and at #1 – Leonardo Da Vinci. Bonus: #1 is Pieta by Michelangelo. 2 is the Mona Lisa by you know who, and then “David”, Sistine Chapel, Cafe Terrace at Night (Van Gogh), Ecstasy of St. Teresa (Bernini), Water Lilies (Monet), (Inspiration of St. Matthew (Caravaggio), The Girl with the Pearl Earring (Van Meer and at #10 The Jewish Bride (Rembrandt). The first painting I ever remember learning about was “Blue Boy” by Thomas Gainsborough.  Extra Bonus: No, it isn’t Andy Warhol or Peter Max or Jackson Pollock, Number one is Jean-Michel Basquiat followed by  Peter Doig, Christopher Wool, Rudolf Stingle, Mark Grotian, Richard Prince, Yoshitomo Nara, Keith Haring, Zeng Fanzhi (His Version of The last Supper was sold at Sotheby’s Hong Kong office for $23,3 Million) and at #10 Damian Hirts.

Basically, I like to ask questions like these because I learn something new.

Coffee: The person upon whom one coughs.

When it’s Over.

Today's Tids Issue 4,761

Hope is good:

Good morning my friends!

In these turbulent times.

We wonder if in days ahead

We’ll return to life that shines

When folks get human again.

When we enjoy sharing our views

Not infected by daily news.

When we reignite with what’s inside,

Loving values deep and rich

And not to exist just to abide.

But I have faith in all humans here,

Even those we tend to fear.

That all will find a way to agree

That we’ll ride the path of honesty

Because of love that’s in our hearts.

Consideration of all

With hopes like me.

We have a chance

If we open our eyes.

Let understanding

Be our life’s guide.

A little wordy this morning in a melancholy way. But, out of sadness and doubt comes dreams that create happiness.

Of course, the first problem is to get people to admit that the love in my heart isn’t greater than the love in your heart

Well, sure enough, the tape is all over the place this morning. You remember the tape. Yes, that tape from last night when Biden said to Trump, show me that tape where I said I would totally eliminate fracking. So far this morning. 11 Million have viewed it.

“Starbucks says it is going to start putting religious quotes on their cups. The very first one will say, ‘Jesus, this cup is expensive.” – Conan O’Brien.

The Question:

If you ever geta an email about pork, ham, salt and preservatives, why shouldn’t you open it? Bonus: If you ever get locked out of you house. why should you talk to your lock calmly?

The Headlines:

--Markets Somewhat Flat; WS Likes Debates Behind Them

--Italy CV Cases Soar To New Daily Record Above 15K.

They are saying that over one third of Americans have already voted. Don’t they realize that “October Surprises” are part of the voting procedure? Or maybe they want to avoid having to deal with the truth.

My friend went bald years ago but still carries around an old comb with him. He just can’t part with it. Badda Bing!

Trump may have helped himself with some fence sitters last night. But, with just two weeks to go, and having so many voted in the box already, it will be a tough haul to change enough minds. It is my guess that the Hillary/Trump derangement crowd could hardly wait to vote against a US president they nave gave a chance to support. And surely rock-solid Trampers. But are there enough left who haven’t made up their minds, where last night could actually have made a difference.

“Honesty may be the best policy, but it’s important to remember that apparently, by process of elimination, Dishonesty is the second-best policy.”  –George Carlin.

The debate was just a repetition of in tedious information that has been repeated ad nauseum for 4 years.

I like the muting of the debate. Maybe we should have a National Day of Muting once a month.

It should get nice and quiet around the house when all of the political phone calls stop…and we can back to just regular old scam artists.

Reading Between the Lines, Movie Reviews:

How about that, we’re back. Here’s a couple that I might be interested in.

--I was looking forward to the remake of the old Hitchcock classic “Rebecca”. But alas the new kids in the director’s chair just miss the essence of the great story. It’s about a newlywed who comes to her new husband’s estate on the English Coast, but finds herself under the shadow of hobby’s former dead wife.

--Ghabe is a nice story about a Syrian refugee finding romance with a Swedish woman while living in a cabin in the woods. I think it sounds intriguing.

The Answer”

You don’t open it because it is spam! Bonus: You talk calmly because communication is the key.

I think I am losing my mind.

Have a great weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
