Today's Tids Issue # 2012
Opening Stuff
And they came. Man
after man. Boy after boy. Wading through bloody waters. Fighting
driving surf. Pushing aside bullet torn bodies of buddies. Shaking with
fear. Looking ahead at more ravaged bodies on the beach. Bullets and
bombs exploding everywhere around them; everywhere from where they came
and where they were going. There was no place to hide. And, yet. they
came. Inner surges of courage pushed them forward. There was an enemy to
be taken. A world to be saved from barbarism. They reached down. Over
160,000 brave men from Britain, the US, Canada, and Free France stormed
that forbidding beach. From Poland, the Netherlands, Norway, Australia
and New Zealand. 24,000 Airborne dropped into dangerous enemy lands
beyond Omaha.195,000 support personnel in 5,000 ships sat in vicious
stormy seas open to assault from shore side big guns. June 6th 1944.
D-day. The day the earth began to turn on a new axis. Go bless brave
soldiers.
A reader reminds me
that God looked down while creating women and made a promise to man
that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the world.
Then he made the Earth round.
The "NFO's", Newspapers
for Obama, announced Governor Walker's win as a "survival", when in
fact it was a powerful win over an organized, full blown, heavily funded
National Union effort to maintain inefficiency and waste in state and
local governments. Yes, Walker won 54% to 45%, a pretty strong majority.
As one wag put it, Americans seem to like hearing the truth!
The
Question:
Name five Allied Commanders and five Axis Generals who participated in the D-day Event.

The best regulation, and maybe the only one that will ever work for Wall Street bankers,
is allowing companies to fail when risky decisions put them on the brink. Plain and simple.
Now I know why ABC News --
Abetting Barack's Campaign -- is so blatantly in the corner of one
candidate, always reporting only positive news about their man or
issuing little non-news puff pieces about Michelle, kids dog and garden.
While always countering anything good about The Mittster with a
resounding "But...". Actually I should have thought of it earlier
because I worked for the same combo -- ABC and Disney. Yes, Disney likes
the promotional possibilities. If you can have corporate named
stadiums, why not a Mickey Mouse White House. Yup, that works for me.
Speaking of effective merchandising, Linda Greenlaw, (She of "Perfect Storm" fame) now has restaurants offering "Linda Greenlaw Swordfish". She has established
her brand as "Top of the Trip(R)". I'm going to offer "Tids Tested" Gravy! Yum. I think it will work.
God looked down
at his most awesome creation, the birth of people, and thought that he
must get into the wireless age. He asked his chief Angels to come up
with a new biological formula that would eliminate the umbilical cord.
It appears to me
that we are always killing the #2 al-Qaida leader. You have to figure
that the #2 was once the #3 and #4 and so forth down the line. So why
don't we start with, say #10 and go forward. Hell, the lower number
leaders should be easier to find.
Remember in
the earlier days of his term when the President refused to use the word
"terrorist" when describing these, um, aaa, terrorists? Now he loves
killing and
reporting Terrorist with a capital "T" kills.
Another reader wonders why "Fat Chance" and "Slim Chance" means the same thing?
I see where the RI legislature
in it's infinite wisdom and continuous effort to make the State a
better place for business and new jobs has voted to decriminalize
marijuana. "Hey man, you got a job for me?" Slim chance.
The Answer:
Dwight
Eisenhower was the Man but ably assisted by many great generals and
officers including Bernard Montgomery, Omar Bradley, Trafford
Leigh-Mallory, Arthur Tedder, Miles Dempsey and Bertram Ramsey. On the
other side we had Gerd von Rundstedt, Erwin Rommel, Friedrich Dollmann,
Hans von Salmuth and Wilheim Falley The first German General killed).
The Boston Celtics showed last night that within the aging bones of warriors there still remains courageous resources for achievement.
I'm finding more restaurants offering
bland healthy sides as opposed to sumptuous buttery sauces on veggies
or rich cream gravy laden starches. I may stop eating out. A curse on
culinary schools.
My personal Election Slogan, "Bring Back Gravy! -- Vote out the Obama's"
I think one thing you can count on for today is that there will be profit taking on Walls Street.
