Today's Tids Issue #2,613
Opening Stuff:
News Flash: New Tids Novel in Serial form Starts today! EeeeeeHah!
Have you noticed that many of the new windmills are placed near or next to roads and highways. Often these symbols of human encroachment are placed in areas where before there were only trees or rolling hills, serene lakes and generally comfortable vistas lining roads and byways. Is this intrusion upon natural beauty only serving the psychological needs of the esteem disadvantaged: "Hey look at me (Us). I'm (We're) green, hep, cool: More environmentally advanced than you driving your SUV". But I only see metal where there once were only trees, rippling streams and waving wild daisies.
I'm kind of excited about the Belmont Stakes this weekend and the possibility of "I'll Have Another" winning the first triple Crown in 36 years. I like the Jockey Mario Gutierrez a lot.
Yesterday the market went up because Wall Street saw, or better yet wanted to see, a dim glow at the end of the Euro tunnel. Today, even with the EuroMess looking as muddled and indecisive as ever, the futures for the market were up strongly before today's opening. So today, what is the driving force for an explosive market in generally sluggish economy? Why, it's China and its Central Bank move to cut lending and deposit rates. Or is just what news that looks good...,or bad...that can drive the market to the wishes of traders.

I'm glad the Tid's Blog doesn't have the popularity of the Right sided bloggers who have been raided by government swat teams. It's true, but not governemnt inspired. It appears that those on the left upset with Right minded bloggers hack into the blogger phone system and send out 911 calls about dangerous crimes taking place at Bloggers home. Police show up often with swat teams. It's just the latest example of Gotcha harassment as hatred between left and right heightens. Jeez, what a world technology has wrought.
So what's next from our food nannies in the White House -- how to grill? Let's hope Michelle doesn't learn that a Doctor is warning about grilling meats and its relationship to cancer! He is recommended wrapping meats in foil and cooking in center of the grill with only side burners on. Yum -- stewed meat.
Dems are perplexed watching Republicans flock to Romney much faster than predicted. Not only average Repubs, but the conservative side seems to forgotten the bitterness of the primaries and coalesced behind the Mittster. Mitt so far appears to be running a smart non-hysterical campaign.
Ray Bradbury was indeed a National Treasure.
The left seems to be particularly vehement in it's crusade against the conservative Koch Brothers. I have read a lot of material from people in the irrational left spewing hatred against the K siblings -- Ed Schultz, Brave New Films, Robert Reich, Bill Moyers, Huffington Post and Rolling Stone among many others. They all spew the same lame negatives against a couple of successful guys putting money where their mouths are. Actually the left really loves the K's because they love to hate, and in their minds the brothers seem to signify everything the left is against. So, my guess is that if the left is so up in arms about the twosome, than the Kochs must be doing something "right"!
Reporters covering the Jerry Sandusky trial seem aghast, dumbfounded that so many jurors are Penn State related. Duh! The only thing in Happy Valley is Penn State.
It appears that the world's announced intention of getting tougher on Syria and Assad will have some big possible problems as China and Russia unite to renew pledges to stand against regime takeovers.
A 90 foot dock washed up on the Oregon shore yesterday. It's a reminder that mother nature will do what it wants despite the efforts of man.
The Conscience: Chapter 1. --
April 28, 1957 -- Mobile Alabama
The sweat was running down my body like an ice-melt on a 80 degree winter's day. The only thing that made me feel like I was still on the same planet was the warm almost hot Michelob in hand and Chuck Berry and Fats Domino on the stage. I felt my toes and and legs moving to the beat of Maybellene -- "As I was motivatin' over the hill, I saw Maybellene in a coup de ville. A cadellac a-rollin' on the open road. Nothin' will outrun my v8 Ford..." "O maybellene why can't you be true" dominated my mind as tried to look cool in this foreign land of aliens. I oozed through the sweaty mob humming Maybellene even as Fats started on Blueberry Hill.
The southern kids around me were lovin' the Black performers even as they had made sure Chuck, Fats and Little went back to their low rent black hotels and drank out of Black only fountains. It was something I learned quickly during this short week in Alabama -- Use em', love em' if they're useful, but shove em' outta the way.
I was spending a spring break away from my college up North with two fraternity brothers from the South -- the very casual happy go lucky Willie from North Carolina and the more formal, monied Jason from Montgomery and Point Clear Alabama. I was having trouble making sense of the South vis-a-vis Northeast values ever since I had to change planes at the sleepy Atlanta airport. That dreadful little airport where I first experienced "Black Only" everything. It grabbed me as I walked through the unimpressive terminal looking for my next flight. The terminal that looked drearier than the unpainted walls as I saw the mystifying to me segregation of black people. But, it was that conflict of cultures that turned a simple college boy getaway into a story of fear in a strange land.

Tonight, it's all about the aging bodies of Kevin Garnet, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen; The magic of the ruthless, raging Rajon Rondo: the steadiness of Brandon Bass; Which of the reliable bench will be on fire. My beloved Celts have a chance to become a great story for the year. And tickle the heart of this long time fan. There's is a great story of inner courage combined with elderly wisdom. I probably will not be able to watch the whole thing because my nerves just can't take it any more! Aaaaaaaaaaaargh!
