Starting today, remember to write 2013. That's 2-0-1-3.

Today's Tids Issue 2,738
Opening Stuff:

Just when everything is neatly stowed away, you discover one more ornament on the tree.

Nancy Pelosi is telling us she will interpret the new Cliff solution right after she figures out ObamaCare...which, after all, is the real fiscal cliff for 2013.

The National debt ceiling is a movable feast.

I'm still working on my New Years Resolutions. It's not going well. I mean...deciding on what resolutions to have.

The Question:
Name Five Women who currently head major countries.

The Headlines:
--Stock Market Up: Dow Up 264.
--The House Sucks It Up And Approves Something Resembling A Solution To Something.
--Prez Says He Will Not Negotiate On Debt Ceiling.
--US Exports Should Improve In 2013; EuroProblems Easing; Emerging Countries Strengthening.

--Chavez Really Sick; Officials Talk Succession.

Not Surprising, Department:
A new Gallop Poll out yesterday says that a mere 23% of Americans are satisfied with the direction of the country! Also, when compared to 2008, 23% fewer Americans are optimistic about the President's election. More and more people think that the country's best years are over, Kaput! The USA will still have good years, But they will be faced with competitiveness from a growing list of substantially stronger emerging economies than ever in the past. Technology breeds ease of developing technology. Economic leadership margins will be thinner and thinner. While environmentalists don't like manufacturing, people do. Since the earliest days, communities had been built around factories that paid good wages and provided for community success. Today, we see formerly thriving big cities, small cities, towns and villages across the country wiped off the map.The Politicians missed the real devil in their midst.

There are signs emerging that in order to save Medicare for tomorrow the question to be asked and a answered will be: "Who wants to get out of the crowded life boat and into the chilly waters to save the rest."

The insanity of environmental zealotry, Department:
My new TV set comes with a "Green Button". It says that the feature will automatically adjust brightness of the picture to save energy! How ludicrous is that. All it does is annoy viewers as the picture all of a sudden becomes dark! All for the sake of how much energy? It's like nutritionists taking the flavor out of Cheetos. People buy TV set to actually see the programs!

Kobe Bryant, you may have heard, took his teammates to see the movie "Lincoln". After the movies he apparently said, "I'm not sure some understood it and many were surprised he was killed at the end."

There's a big difference between global competitiveness and Globalization.

The real repository of national illiteracy is the US Congress where nobody no longer seems to read...especially complex bills that affect their constituents.

The political radio landscape is changing today. Andrea Tantaros of Fox's "The Five" is replacing Laura Ingraham for her former distributor. LI signed witn a new distributor and also starts her new show today. Glastonbury High School grad Laura has been the leading Woman on the talk circuit. But Lehigh U's Andrea could be the woman to take her crown. Check your local listings.

The Answer:

I particularly like Julia Gillard of Australia who is outspoken (According to Libs) and has said things like "Immigrant must adapt to us, not us to them." Of course Angela Merkle is a World leader  and powerful. Others are India's Pratibha Patil, Brazil's Dilma Rousseff, Denmark's Helle, Thorning-Schmidt, Switzerland's Eveline Widmer-Schlumph and Argentina's Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner. Women also head Liberia, Bangledesh, Iceland, Lithania, Costa Rica, Trinidad, Slovakia, Kosovo, Thailand and Serbia. Can you say Hillary Rodham Clinton? I can't.

Happy first work day of the year. Hopefully nobody had to go to any early morning meetings. This is a day of weening.
