Today's Tids Issue 2,938
Opening Stuff:
In 1788 ornery, independent Rhode Islanders staged a mini rebellion marching on those wanting to celebrate the ratification of the constitution, saying they didn't want any part of a strong central (US) government. At an Ox roast the two groups met and compromised. The ornery RI'ers it turns out were correct worrying about and encroachment of a large Central Gov. These days there is a new realization, and a chance to start taking a fews steps backward from an all too suffocating central government. We have our own new ornery, resolute group who seem willing to endure the sneers and insults from the entrenched and take steps to bring America back into the laps of the people, away from the bureaucrats and power hungry.
With free speech you often get what you pay for.
Maybe Putin can find a solution to the US stalemate.
The Question:
Who do you think are the five greatest all time Civil rights activists?
The Headlines:
--Sides meet; President Says No Compromise.
--Migrant Ship Off Italy Capsizes Killing 170.
--"Jerry" Could Become East Coast Hurricane.
--Syrian Rebels Look To Stop Fighting Near turkey Border.
--Rays End Cleveland Dreams.
--New Jobless Claims Edge Up.
I'm thinking as I trespass along on big governments byways that a vast majority of Americans are far smarter, more attuned to the vagaries of life than President Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi combined. So my question is, why are they so condescending, always talking down to us, sneering at our simple questions only asked because we see an encroaching government as never envisioned by the Founding Fathers (And , of course their determined wives and bright daughters)?
It's pick em' time, and I'm flying afteer a strong 13-2 record last week. Of course, it's like having a birdie on one hole and watching the ensuing drive go 200 yards into the woods. Exhubreration leads to gigantic missteps. This pushed our recod to 42-21 for a 67% winning record. But this week is no better than the rest with mostly "Pick-'em" games. How good is Cleveland, Buffalo? Close so iI'm picking home field Browns. GB-Det is a war, but I'm picking GB. I have to stick with NO over da bears with holes.
A couple of easier picks are Atlanta over Jets and St. Louis over Jax. After that shor breather it's back to work. Until Locker went down I would go for Tenn, but now 4-0 KC has the edge. The Seattle "D" Can stop Look. Baltimore is a mystery and Miami is at home and playing well - Dolphins. Which is the biggest NFC East loser? The Jints take Iggles at home. Carolina will beat Arizona and San Fran will tale advantage of a confused Houston. Have to take SD over the Raiders. The war of the week is Denver at Dallas. How good is Denver? I'm saying good enough to beat the Cowboys at home. And tighten there was one -- My Pats against an angry Bengal tiger. I'm thinking there is one more win in the stars for NE.
Doing something like the Tids every day has a significant danger of becoming stale, repetitive, trite, boring...all of the above. So if you have a second, write and tell me what you don't like, what you're tired of. There's always room for improvement in everything.

One positive note coming out of this standoff between the Congress and White House -- Obama has not blamed it on Bush...yet.
The seven or eight people who make up the Republican party in RI have a fundraiser in progress that's making a lot of money and rankling liberals to the core, and unfortunately has GOP candidates squirming too. They are raffling an AR 15 Semi-Automatic Rifle. I love it. If you can't win you may as well make a point, have a little fun; make the unctious a little uncomfortable in their saddles. I hear that raffle ticket sales are out of sight!

Gangs of motor cyclists no matter out good their hearts may be, are at first very intimidating to any lone diver.
Press the number 1-3-8 for Elbonian:
Have you heard that the Federal governemnt on their Health Hot Line offers callers 150 language options! What a great example of Big Government overkill. Private industry would make choices, and not lavishly spend money to appease groups that probably know English anyhow. It's a small item, but it's just the way bureaucrats think -- money is no object. It's not ours.
The Answer:
I'll start at number One because moist won't be surpi=riused that it is MLK Jr. Number two is a surprise (To me) when you see the rest of the list --Rosa Parks(?). #3 is "The Little Rock Nine" and they are followed by Thurgood Marshall, Asa Phillip Randolph, Malcom X, Susan B. Anthony, Elijah Mohammed, Mary McLoed Bethune and Cesar Chavez.
They have proven that Shasquatch is living and has endured for centuries as a hybrid human. Any thing is possible. Even a return to America the Beautiful.
