I like my little cocoon.

Today's Tids Issue 3,042
Opening Stuff:

When I was a kid I liked old red barns, gray weathered shingles and farm ponds next to a white slat fences along a dirt road leading up a rambling cape atop a green hill. I still do.

On March 6 in history we had in 1775 the first black man in North America initiated into the Boston Masons and in 1836, and The Dred Scott Supreme Court ruling that said slaves cannot be citizens. In 1836 we had “Remember the Alamo” and in 1895 England beating Australia in one of the best cricket matches ever. In 1906 Nora Blatch became the first woman elected to the Society of Civil Engineers and in 1921 a Pennsylvania town ordered women to wear their skirts 4 inches below the knee. Cassius Clay joined Islam in 1964 and Satlin’s daughter Svetllana asked for asylum in the US in 1967. Silly Puddy was invented in 1950, Susan Birmingham makes the loudest ever recorded human shout (120dB) in 1982 and the Howard Stern radio show premiered in 1995. History begets a strange and often conflicting hodgepodge. The good news is that in March 6, 1899 Aspirin was invented and patented by Felix Hoffmann at a German Company named Bayer.

Michelle Bachman couldn’t have been more correct when she said that “Tolerance is a two way street”. Too often the right cows to the left, a myopic segment of society who preaches tolerance as long it is for their own beliefs. Too often the press drums up tolerance for one idea by sacrificing the tolerance for an equal and important opposition.

The Question:
There are only 22 countries of 200 in this entire world that England has never invaded. Name 5.

Legal “Line in the Sand”, Department:
Interestingly, Ukraine at the time they became independent from the USSR was a full nuclear nation. The people determined they didn’t want nukes and for giving them up they had Russia, Britain and The USA sign a treaty whwre the three countries would act as their protector.. Russia has obviously reneged, leaving the other two legally bound to step in. One knowledgeable person from Columbia U has said yesterday that the Ukraine standoff may the single most important historical event of the generation. It ain’t over til the fat lady sings and Putin is stopping her at the border.

Speaking of intolerance, the NYC Mayor’s office and the Obama admin is starting to look like the Doonesbury comic strip, a 60-70’s college dorm “smoke-in”. And, how about that O-Nomination of that activist Lawyer Debo Adejbile, who defended a cop killer and then promoted him as the victim of police discrimination. As you know by now, he was voted down by the Senate for the position as head of the Civil Rights Division. If he isn’t the face of activist intolerance, nobody is. (Note: I understand the concept that even the worst of humans in the USA deserve legal representation, but he wasn’t voted down for defending the killer per se, but how he used that defendant afterwards to throw it in the face of the mourning family left without a good father, son and husband.) (Note 2: Harry Reid disagreed with the decision so it must be right.)

News Flash: Funny that I should devote this Tids to intolerance as suggested by the title. In this morning’s news, I see that Rutgers’ professors like the coziness of their own little cocoon, as they have banded together to protest having Condoleezza Rice speak at the graduation. “Please don’t interrupt our narrow view of the world with reason,” they sang as they rose from their veggie meals in the school cafeteria.

I notice that Ferdinand Magellan discovered Guam on this day in 1521. Ferdy was one in the line of great Portuguese explorers begun by Prince Henry the Navigator and furthered by the daring-do of greats like Vasco De Gama and Bartholomew Diaz. The great explorers of this small country opened the world to Europe (And to Catholicism – One of their early objectives) like nothing previously in history, and made Portugal very, very wealthy, and powerful. It was a, if not the, dominant country of the 14-1500’s. Today it is near Bankrupt. Countries do die if the populace doesn’t attention.

It’s exactly like little Rhode Island, which in the early 20th century was one of the two wealthiest states in the USA, and is now #1 in unemployment. Government power that grows disproportionately off the success of free enterprise will eventually suffocate spirit and financial capability of the people.

Real nutritionists must get really, really angry when health charlatans come out with statements like, “meat is worse than smoking.”

One thing I don’t like about Winter is that nanny organizations like the WHO – World Health Organization – have too much time on their hands to think of new ways to antagonize happy eaters. Go on vacation.

By the way, did you know that The Who once wrote a song called, “Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy”? Oh, that the other Who?

Have you noticed lately that when the Republicans get close to the damaging truth about the Admin, some Dem will rise up to use over the top antics, normally by ranting maniacally in the Capitol chambers, as the in the case of The Hill on Benghazi and Elijah Cummings on IRS overreach in an effort to elicit victimhood from the adoring press. I say keep pushing for the truth.

I think that Lois Learner is going to hold out until after the elections and then ask for immunity.

The teen in NJ who is suing her parents should be spanked. Or, better yet, her smart phone should be taken away for a month, year?

The Conscience: Chapter 40.
Elliot Wu had already started taking over the operations of Bernard. Jason couldn’t have been happier for that, as he was busy looking at his future after the sale. Jason had come to enjoy Eliot since he joined the company, and found him to be a thoughtful advisor. In fact, it was Eliot who proposed the merger, which will make him very rich. So basically, he loved Wu.
What Jason didn’t realize was that Wu was also altering records that would implicate Jason and Jeffery as partners in the illicit procuring of boats and ships for the drug cartels in Mexico. Unfortunately the normally cool Wu had become a Sanna disciple along the way.
“Mr. Wu, my friend” come in said Jason with a big smile as he sat at his desk overlooking the plans for his new vacation house on the pure white sands of Dauphin Island at the mouth of Mobile Bay. He was happy to get out, which is why he took Jeffery’s advice to alter their prices due to the explosion to expedite the sale to Biglietto. He liked Antonio, but Earnesto bothered him. He wandered what this Sanna he had hear much about was like, and where she fit in.
Wu walked over and stood before the desk, feeling a bit guilty as he had grown to like the affable southern gentleman. He’d heard from Sanna that Jason was a pretty severe bigot, that he didn’t like anybody who wasn’t pure Anglo white like himself. Wu hadn’t seen it, and he was one of those dreadful, sneaky slanty eyed Asians. He laughed to himself, as he walked over and leaned down to look at Jason’s drawings. You never go wrong he thought, taking an interest in somebody else’s pet project. This is especially true if you want them to sign papers without reading them. Jason was very sharp and very thorough, but he was weakened now by the glitter of freedom in his eyes.
“Let’s see how your dream has grown today, Jason” Jason looked at him a smiled warmly.

The Answer:
Bolivia is the only country in the Western Hemisphere never invaded by Britain. In Asia it is Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan  and Tajikistan. In Europe there is Sweden, Luxemburg, Lichtenstein, Monaco, Andorra, Vatican city and Belarus. In Africa the spared countries were Ivory Coast, Chad, Mali, Central Africa Republic, Republic of Congo and Burundi.

USA – The After-the-Elections Country.

Now that I got out all of the venom I can go back to my comfortable cocoon, the one with openings on both ends.

Keep up the good fight!
