Today's Tids Issue 3,154\
Opening Stuff:
It seemed like
yesterday wasn’t very far away as I roamed the beautiful fields of rural
Maine, enduring enticements of vendor after vendor at a large antiques show.
The majority of the antiques were rustic and old as opposed to many of today’s
shops where the “antiques” are mainly of my childhood. There before me was all
of the stuff that would have caused heart palpitations in days gone by, when we
were actively buying the worn out junk. But, now I only traipse hoping to spy
that one perfect purchase. Yesterday it was an almost day, but perhaps the
perfection was just in being in a special place.
Hillary may not be
running, but yesterday she blamed the rise of ISIS on Obama’s inept foreign
policy and praised the hell out Israel. Mrs. Coy is using the deeds of the
former president ploy to help spread joy among her financial girls and boys.
But then, maybe she wasn’t running at all. After all, she was the Secretary of
state when all of the inaction by the Admin was going down.
As the sport of
football becomes endangered, it is expected that Obama will put the EPA in
charge of the NFL and NCAA. Goodell, Emmert and Soccer moms are expected to be
outraged.
I stood behind an
older women checking out of BJ’s the other day. After having her slip
punched, she turned to the gatekeeper and said: “I walk very slow, but as Victor
Borge once said, I see more of the world.

There’s no truth to
the rumor that Hillary has admitted she is not broke…just morally bankrupt.
As colleges,
facing increased sexual assaults on campus, wrestle with the exact definition
of what exactly constitutes consensual sex, lawyers will be required at all college parties to help determine
consensuality before the action.
Too many people worry
more about the state of celeb’s marriages than their own.
Power Shift, Department:
--With all of the court decisions on paying college athletes
and the emergence of the big five, “David” is dead in America in college
sports. –And so much for the badly needed parity in the NBA when super-celebs
like Labron can create their own teams. This is the legacy of another less
heroic David, David Stern who promoted stardom and antics over team and solid play.
After listening to RI
governor candidates espouse their plans for a while now, a local wag
suggests that if elected we’ll have the best educated unemployed in America.
The “Libre
Initiative” among other things offers English classes, health check-ups and
courses to help Spanish speakers earn HS diplomas. They also teach limited
government and economic freedom, plus lessons on how to build family run
businesses, understand meaningful immigration and have prayer breakfasts with
Spanish priests and ministers. It is funded by the Koch brothers and Hispanics
are bewildered. Community leaders like what is going on, but they’ve been so
long inured to Repubs that they are having mental stress understanding how any
group but Dems could be so helpful and concerned. The GOP likes it because they
have been unable to go where Libre Initiative can. The good news is that new
Hispanics are for the first time getting both sides of the story…and they are
liking what they see and hear.
I think the new
designs of the Subaru are beginning to live up to their appeal. To a
superficial person like me, this is important. I’m not going for better gas mileage
if I don’t look good doing it. It’s a tough way to live.
All of those
Nom-Tiger’s put on a helluva show the past four days at the PGA. People
sometimes forget that eras have come to an end since the beginning of time. The
PGA will recover from the fading of Woods. A greatest of all champions, but not the next to come.
The Answer:
First was Peabody Energy, followed by Amaon.com, Vertex
Pharm, Yahoo!, Noble Corp, Windstream Holdings, Plum Creek Timber, Motorola
Solutions and EQT.
I am always amazed
at how many people travel on summer weekends, even though I’ve seen it hundreds
of times before. And it is mainly torture. I hope it is r-e-a-l-l-y good when
they get there. Me, I like my cocoon. Maybe someday I’ll hatch as a butterfly
an soar above the traffic.
