Opening stuff:
Is
the world of romance a world for fools? Is claiming a prize by a pack of
horny dogs the new tale of the chase? Has deceit replaced love; the fling, a lasting
warmth in a pounding heart -- that beautiful feeling that overwhelms my senses.?
Are there still eyes that create
symphonies which send you over rainbows, or simply, coldly beckoning quick flips in a nightclub restroom.
Are marriages like willow trees with roots shallow and tenuous, easily toppled
by the merest breeze of discontent. Has a scorecard replaced a poem lyrically promising
eternal love? Or, am I just a romantic
old fool who is out of touch. If I am, I think I’d much prefer staying in my
world of puffy clouds and rainbows and glistening autumn oceans. And the beauty
of man’s true and giving love for a woman.
When I listed the best
all time ballets a few weeks ago I forgot one of my favorites, Romeo et
Juliet, by Hector Berlioz --one of history’s most brilliant, liquor infused,
drug hazed mad men. Frankly, I don’t really know if it is a good ballet, but
the music is great.
I remember when advertising
agency artists in the late 60’s, early 70’s thought it was important that his

One of the great
ongoing marketing ploys is convincing children never to be like or dress
like or listen to music like, or, or, or…like their parents. Is is good for
manufacturers and sellers, but n ot so hot for family relationships.
The North Smithfield
RI High Hchool girls State Champ tennis team have the best looking
uniforms, followed by the Providence Classical HS football team.
The Middle East
is driven by many factors, some of which are downright a bit odd. For instance
one group that is fiercely behind the strong and independent Israel forever is the
US Evangelical churches. So much so, that many of their churches where they are
strongest freely exhibit flags of Israel. There reasons: First the salvation of
the Jews and bringing them back to one original place is considered a miracle
from God as predicted by Moses and Johovah. Second, they believe that Israel
must own its own nation so Jesus can return in the end. So, it isn’t all oil.
Speaking of
marketing, I believe it is feminist groups that have been pushing baseball
caps for boys and men, first the strap on the forehead look and now the flat
brim – both of which make men look mentally deficient.
I have never
understood the popularity of the Progressive Insurance spokes woman. But,
she’s making a bundle with royalties for life, so what do I know.
Ebola will cease
to be an American problem within 4 hours after the November election.
