Is NYC that place Under the dome?

Today's Tids Issue 3,221
Opening Stuff:

When you think about it, elephants are truly a weird looking species. It’s a good thing they smile.

How cool is it landing a robotic device with cameras on a comet. This particular comet travels through space  at 41,000 mph about 311 Million miles from earth. It should be great for pics of things never seen, if they can get sunlight back on solar panels. Landing on a comet going 41K mph! Wow!

A good friend, teacher at Fort Bragg and Tids Chief Military Advisor sends this film along for Veteran’s Day. She apologizes for the delay. I think you’ll say ok, no problem, after you’ve seen ii:

Actor Miles Teller’s mother’s name is Merry Flowers. She must be a cousin of River Phoenix. You have to believe that “Merry” cheered the protests of the men in the film above.

The Question:
Time mag has just announced words it wants banned in 2015. In a reader vote, one word came way out on top. Name it. Name 9 others.

People often wonder about the benefits of Governorships, whether it’s Republican or Democrat. There are many in tis country who’d like to usurp all rights of states in favor of total fed dominance; people who only think federal elections are important as long s the representatives don’t represent the electors. That is exactly opposite the concept of the formation of a country that has worked better than average for hundreds of years. A classic example of big Gov creep is here in woeful RI where a local committee created a plan, “RhodeMap RI”, adopted by the Legislature as the guideline for the next Governor (Now Gina) and paid for by HUD – yes a federal agency with long tentacles. It preys upon the hope of RI’ers yearning to be an economic factor again. It is, though, full of generic feel good clichés, and in essence is a plan where “personal property rights will become secondary to the common good.”; The sovereignty of individual towns “ will become subservient to un-elected regional planning commissions or to HUD communities that accept federal funds.” (Can you say Infrastructure spending?) A strong anti group is rightfully crying socialism and warns of state laws superseded by HUD and other agencies. Gina, a former successful capitalist, espouses many liberal ideas. Let’s hope giving away the state to sluggish, unaware Fed bureaucracies is one of them.

Why pay money to have your family tree traced. Go into politics and your opponents will do it for you.

The Voice:
I was happy to see the best (At least most refreshing) female singer of them all, Jesse Pitts, stay with Blake, but not so much to see James David Carter go. I was surprised that the talented Elijah didn’t make it, but very happy and surprised Pharrell chose Sugar. I liked the voice of  Rick Manning and was surprised ten average Ryan Sill beat him out. But, he Manning like a sour individual when not picked by Gwen, so maybe that’s the reason. The Voters got it dead on with Adam Team’s Damian and Matt McAndrew. Unlike past years though, I see no dominant singer.  Any of these can win or lose and the earth won’t melt away.

What a weekend of NFL games we have for us, starting tonight. Miami and Buffalo have been good even in losses. The difference is Miami at home. Who woulda thunk that Seattle-KC would be a premiere game but it is and I’m picking KC – Frankly I like Alec Smith despite what experts say.  Bengals Saints should have been a special showdown, but Cinncy is dying – NO. St. Louis will make it tough on Manning, but I have to take Denver. Two Tom Brady back-ups, Ryan Mallett and Brien Hoyer are facing each other in a very important game for both teams. I lied Hoyer better when he was in NE, so it is The Browns. The Giants could pull a surprise as this is the time of the year they usually wake up. But, not this time – SF. The Skins will take the Bucs In the “Who cares Bowl”.  Wow! – Pacers Eagles; Eagles Packers. The Pack plays better on Frozen tundra. In the “Who Knows Bowl”, I’m picking the Bears to finally stop making mistakes against Minn.  Somebody has to win in the Carolina-Atlanta game, so I’m saying Newton will only throw 3 Int’s and get a win. Are the winless Raiders hungry enough to get a win against the fading Chargers? Nah. The Cards just lost their newly extended contract QB Carson Palmer, But backup Stanton is 3 – 0 this season. The Lions will lose and be mad for next week’s game against the Pats  (Yuck). I have to pick the Steelers over the Titans even after their bad play last week. Another huge game for Sunday night brings the Pats to the Comfiy Indy indoor arena. This a is tough choice, but my inner heart strings are sensing a Pats win. When you live here, it’s sometimes just a matter of feeling it. The record is creeping up to 89-56 (61.3%). I should be writing these results in invisible ink.

I was humming along pretty well until they started up again on the project rebuilding a parking lot behind my home that had the earmarks of a giant sinkhole. When you live in a city you learn to adapt, but you also lose a lot of time watching these giant machines and their operators perform. America’s got talent.

Starting today, the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) Is shutting down Cod fishing From Provincetown Ma to Canada. In one gigantic back hand to the face the Gov action will probably destroy the livelihoods of fisherman and all of the coastal communities that rely on their income as the foundation for a solid day to day economy. Just like that, one day you are a fisherman and the next you’re in a welfare office.  Big brother gets bigger.

I think that Blacklist is overrated. Excuse me for being sacreligerous.

Politics is the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and funding from the rich by promising to protect each from the other.

The Answer:
Now I know I’m out of touch became a lot of the words Tome wants to ban don’t even look like any word I have evr seen, much less used. It must be a New York bar scene thing. The runaway winner is “Feminist”. I can agree with that over used term that has become more divisive than positive for females. Next highest is “Bae” which they say is a term of endearment. Third sounds like a dying breath, “Omnom nom nom”. It’s fro people who can’t pronounce onomatopoeia. Next is Yaaasssss followed by “Turnt” – which in NYC means a remedy to an unsatisfying sex life. Then we have “Basic”, “literally”, “Sorry, not sorry”, “Obvi”, “Bossy”, “I can’t even…” and “Kale”. I voted for Kale. Aren’t you glad you don’t live in NY. O, another reason not to move there is that the smug elite at Time say in an accompanying definition of “Turnt” – everybody but Middle America knows what it means. This ole’ lifetime Northeasterner will take Middle America every time.

Time to go and watch the excavation guys at work. Does that sound like some old guy with time on his hands, or what?

Maybe I should ban time.
