Happy Birthday World.

Today's Tids Issue 4,291
Celebrate:

I think we’re going to see stuff coming out this new House of Representatives unlike anything that has been seen at this level in America during our long, glorious, precedent setting history. And, a lot of us will shudder; shale our heads in disbelief.

The politicians have ruined the purity of sanctuary.

I watch the stocks crumble and descend to new lows on a daily basis, and the experts tell us that we are not in a recession. Wow! How lucky am I.

My wife told me to wear a skirt for the day, and I really kilt it.

When you’re right, nobody remembers. When you’re wrong, nobody forgets.”

The Question:
Give me five financial terms you don’t want to hear during 2019.

The Headlines:
--Report Of 312,000 New Jobs Has Stocks Heading In The Right Direction; Today. China Economy News Is Positive; China/US talks Set For Monday; Crude Oil Prices Rise.
--New Dem Congress Passes Budget Bill Which Will Hit Senate As Non-Starter; Susan Collins Wavering; Ocasio-Cortez Floats 70% Tax On Super Rich To Pay For Green Aspirations.

--Building Boom In Seattle Has Produced 10% Vacancy Rate in Apartments And Dropping Rents.
--Germany Hacker Dumps Private Data On Hundreds Of German Politicians.

Within minutes of the House change-over, I’m seeing the media treat Lala-Pelosi as the Duel President – with happy, snappy pictures and more positive headlines.

We just gotta hope that the Fed will have the market’s back. That could make death feel slower.

Well, many football fans say that this coming wild card week is always one of the two best weekends of football of the year. It’s win, or go home time. The Tids Pickers should have gone home months ago. Final season record 153-100-2 (60). Next year, back to 75 %, promise. Ok, lets go. On Saturday we have the Colts versus the Texans. They kind of go together – Colts-Texans. Will the Texans ride the Colts or get Bucked off. Luck has emerged this year. Watson on Texas is also maturing nicely Under the radar, the Colts have built young very good D. Personally, I like the Texans and dislike The Colts. I’ll pick the Texans at home. Seattle at Dallas is a very interesting matchup. Both teams have been irregular over the season, but have also steadily improved. Russ is better than Zak, But Ezekiel is the best runner on the field. Seattle seems tougher to me. I’ll pick the Seahawks. On Sunday the Chargers meet a defense, run centric Baltimore. Philip Rivers is a classic Hall of Fame QB wheel Lamar Jackson is flashy as a runner who lately has been surprising people with his passing. I think Baltimore will win, which is basically bad for my Patriots. Wait, a Chargers win is bad for my Patriots. Philly at Chicago is the last of the four, and it should be another terrific game. The Eales are surging under the exercised guidance of their Back up SB MVP QB, Nick Foules. Chi has been very good all year long, and I like their coach. Will their QB Mitchell Trubisky be mature enough in a big game like this. I’m rooting for the Bears but despite their strong D led by the ever-amazing Khalil Mack, I will be disappointed when the Eagles get themselves back on the road to repeat.

The generally unwatchable Golden Globes are on this Sunday, but the results sometimes give clues to who may be winners at the generally unwatchable Oscars. The odds makers are also pickling favorites, and now have at 13-2 “A star is Born”. Close behind at 15-2 is “Roma”, a movie not so well known among the folks. (It’s about a young domestic worker in Roma Mexico delivering an artful love letter to the woman who raised him, in which he draws on his won childhood to create an emotional portrait of domestic strife and Social hierarchy that led the political turmoil of the day.) titillated yet? Close behind the leading two and perhaps the big potential surprise of the Oscars could be “Black Panther”. Others in the top favorite list are “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Vice” and “On the Basis of Sex”.

The Clemson/Alabama game should be a terrific NCAA Championship, but would have been better if three Clemson players hadn’t been thrown off the team for drug violations. David Hood of “Tigernet” says while it hasn’t all been confirmed, that two are impact players.

UConn women got whacked last night by Baylor. The era of a handful of dominant teams may be over as more and more high schools produce better and better women players. Oh yeah, that wasn’t just a loss, it was UConn’s first regular season loss four years.

The newbies to the RI state legislature have formed what they call “Reform Caucus”, designed to change the way government and politics work. From what I’ve been hearing, Reform Circus is more apt.

The new Dems have vowed to bring civilized talk back to American politics and the US Government, like newly elected Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich) who shouted yesterday in screechy tones: “We’re gonna go in there and we’re gonna impeach the Mother----"!

America has produced a lot of innovators, but one of the purist of them all may have been Herb Kelleher. He created an airline concept that flew in the face of tradition, and I’m sure produced many a guffaw in the boardrooms of the tried and true profit challenged historic monoliths. He recognized the real needs of travelers made it happen. Imagine that, recognizing the needs of customers.

The idea of more and more early voting has become a favorite of politicians, and that in itself probably means it’s really bad for a democratic Republic.

Actually, I watched part of Nancy’s P’s opening remarks and said, Well, there’s nothing there for me.
