Tom and MLK:
You’re
going to have to put up with my happiness for a few lines
as I continue to decompress from that Patriot’s win last night. It was wearing,
like playing the game yourself. It hurt, and then it didn’t. I awoke this morning
with bones out of position, and there were organs I didn’t know I had, aching.
Yes, the games are great but when you win the tension filled four quarters, the
best part is the aftermath, sitting back and soaking it in. Reliving the great moments.
Looking for people to share your smiles. So that’s what I’m doing today –
reliving.
Now
across the country many more people are reliving the walks
and words of Martin Luthor King Jr. h\He left so many words that inspired, and
sensible recipes for understanding and striving. Of uniting. I cannot stop the chills
that always arise within me when I hear “I had a dream...” from yearnings for a
racially united Mississippi, Georgia and Alabama, to “I have a dream that one
day my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not
be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
Are you still there, Martin?
You
meet a lot of great people over the years, and then for some reason
after you don’t see them for a while, you can’t remember why.
Did you know that before the invention of the crowbar, crows had to do their drinking alone, at home.
The
Question:
When MLJ Jr. stood at the podium with his prepared “Statesmen like” remarks for the day of trhe great Washington march, a woman he knew well sitting nearby shouted to him, “Tell them about the dream, Martin. Tell them about the dream”. He moved his prepared message aside and started to ad lib. He would have only done that for this woman. Who was she? Bonus: What was MLK’s real birth name?

If
you are inclined to look for people who can bring down President
DT, you have to start with Alan Weisselberg. I think I mentioned this several months
ago when the Trump empire’s financial advisor of nearly 50 years was brought into
talks with the Mueller gang. The guy, who could bring down Trump legally is the
guy who knows where all the bodies are buried. He was Treasurer of the Donald
J. Trump Foundation and on the board of the Miss Universe Organization. In addition,
he was a guy who for over 40 years wrote all (That’s all as in every single one)
of the checks for DT to sign. He also
handled The President’s personal financial operations – including doing his
income taxes for several years. He has been with Mueller, they say, more than a
couple of times. While purportedly the most loyal and trusted employee, he may
have a need of save some of his skin. Isn’t it always about that?

Some
kind of settlement between The US and China will make all of
the countries of the world happy. And none happier than me.
Markets
fidget over the news that China growth is slower now than in
three decades. Sounds pretty awful. Yet, any emerging economy will always appear
slower than initial mercurial upsurges as the base gets larger. It’s the nature
of all things that begin low.
There
were a lot of heroes for the NE Pats yesterday, but none better
than the offensive line. Their coach, 70 yo Dante Scarnecchia (With the Pats
since 1982) is perhaps the greatest O-Line coach who ever lived. Seriously
If
I were a democrat strategist. I would probably
suggest continuing to muddy the character of the President to make him more
vulnerable to defeat in 2020. Going for the juggler now and getting a conviction
after impeaching would be rather mathematically impossible, obviously depending
on the extent of the crime, if there is one. Aggressive action now to merely satisfy
the bloodthirsty crazies in Demland would more than likely ignite the fervor of
the Repubs on 2020 election day. Regardless if Trump is there or not.
Pathologists
seldom get lost.
The
young tennis player Alexander Zverev is one exciting guy to
watch, and could be one of those emerging to replace a few of the aging superstar
veterans.
On
Sunday I was Sitting watching the damaging snow storm of the
year, and failed to see a flake.
A
national expert says he won’t be surprised to see up to
two dozen Dems candidates vying for the 2020 nomination. What is interesting is
that they will represent diverse segments, who are not necessarily thinking
along the same democrat lines. As fractured as the Repub President could be,
how hard will it be to unify the Dems. Some of the aggressive Dem newbies are just
getting started. Who will they be in a year and a half?
The
refs yesterday told Saints Coach Sean Payton that they
totally blew the interference/helmet-to-helmet/roughing-an-unprotected-receiver
call. He’s thinking, “Thanks for the honesty but I lost the f---ing game because
of your ineptitude”.
These
are the days when it’s a good idea to get the beer out of
the garage.
The
ethnic group that made the most strides in winning posts
at the national, state and local levels last November are Muslims. Just in case
you are interested about what’s going on beneath the surface.
I
never read stories with the Headline: Rhode Island
Congressional delegation says…”
As
the New England Patriots traveled down to nosy Kansas City
Arrowhead Stadium, they probably all were thinking as a unit – how did we ever
lose that Miami game.
One
of the best things about living in a city is having a couple
of decent restaurants around the corner.
When
I watch a commercial for GMC SUV’s I’m thinking they must be

The
Answer:
Mahalia Jackson was great friend of MLK, and he
would have only listened to her, says his trusted advisor Jones. It is believed
the energetic gospel singer Jackson felt his speech needed more zip than what was
in the business-like speech he had written. Bonus: MLK was born as Michael King.
I
think MLK Jr. was an honest man who knew the realities
of the world in which he and his people lived. He was a strong man. A fearless
leader. And gentle. What would Martin say today?
