Today's Tids Issue 5,110
Repubs live:
Apathy is destructive. But carefree is healthy and positive. In a world today clouded over by Viruses and politicians and yes, the possibility of war, keeping our eye on the beauty of life will carry us through the roughest bumps, many of which that seem so insurmountable for a moment, disappear not only from view but form our memories. There is nothing wrong with allowing our hearts to come alive and our faces to glow even as we wrestle with problems without apparent solutions. As news media trumpets angst, ocean waves soothe, as do green rolling hills and glass like lakes and mountain peaks covered with snow. And of course, clouds in the bright blue sky. We don’t lose our focus nor avoid our concerns, but just find a way to manage dreads and fears, being comforted by all the beautiful people and things around us. Not going insane Is a good thing.
On Sundays when watching the PGA final round, I will often switch to NASCAR to wake up.
Remember about a year ago when the USA was nearly oil independent?
The Question:
We all know about Ukraine. Name five other countries that used to be part of the USSR.
The Headlines:

“If the stars should appear but one night every thousand years how man would marvel and stare.” That was by RWE. It reminds me of how much we take for granted in this world. We should stop for a moment every once in a while, so we can see and be astonished, and appreciate every day, the awe around us. And the amazing feats of great people and all those who just love and give and care around us.
Good news, Department:
The average age for today's Obit page was 86.2
Somehow, we have gotten to a point where we support bad acts and people because we don’t want the other side to win. We must get back to seeing the truth.
Joe B posed the question recently, “What do Republicans stand for?” Of course, that is what Dems want the nation to belive. Obviously, Dems and the media ran with this latest sleight of hand political trick and soon the prevailing opinion on the Tube was that Repubs are over. Put a fork in them. Yeah sure. A local guy wrote an Op-Ed telling us what the Repubs stand for: The brilliantly written founding constitution designed to protect the people from an overarching government; A sovereign nation needs firm borders; Capitalism is the best economic system; Opposition to nullification; Restraints against accumulating national debt; Equality under the law as opposed to equity; Reduction of large central bureaucracies; Judges to interpret law versus creating law. That is just one man’s opinion, but it is close to what Repubs have always been before the nation was divided into liberals and Conservatives.
The car carrying ship in the Atlantic off the Azores is proving that car fires in the future with EV cars are going to be hard to fight. At least with today’s technology (Note: At this point, there is no conclusion that the batteries caused the fire.)
Now is it China’s turn to go after Taiwan?
If you watch this week’s episode (#5) of The Gided Age on HBO, you will see the street and old church in which I live. I don’t remember it being that sunny. Oh, wait, Iwas playing golf and was in the woods most of the time.
How weird has US politics become. We are used to the minority party having a response to SOTU. But now the progressive left will also have a response, probably by Squad member Rep. Rashida Tlaib. Poor USA. The fracture continues just as conceived by Marx writings.
How come gas at the pump prices go up immediately when it takes months for the newly priced producer oil to get into the pipeline?
I think I that if you look at stock history you will find that markets tend to overreact. And even more so today with the rapid-fire media hysteria. But also with today’s trading technology, turnarounds can be infinitely faster. It is not likely that because of Ukraine all technology innovation has come to a halt, that people will stop dialing up Amazon or Alibaba worldwide. There will be a lot of chugging going on and will continue as the U-R thing settles into routine.
Putin is a very analytical guy, who likes to be in control. He would lose control with a world or at least a major European war
The Answer:
They are Armenia, Moldova, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Kirgizstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. The other two countries that made up the USSR are Ukraine and Russia. Putin has 14 more years to get them all back! Maybe he’ll go for East Germany too.
Carefree and careless are on two different planets.
