Today's Tids Issue 5,121
Always a solution, somewhere:
The cheeseburger may lead to the fall of Putin. Yes, as complex as this world can be, the lowly, calorie packed burger may just do in the ruthless, heartless dictator. As Micky D and others shutter doors to the most popular hangouts for younger generations of Russians, we will see an uprising and potential overwhelming of the Kremlin. Putin may be able to stop the news about the war, but you can’t fool em’ when the burgers stop sizzling.

This new Microsoft Word is too damn smart for its own good. If this kind of uninvited intrusion is an example of things to come in AI, count me out.
My pet peeve this morning in addition to everything Putin, is about a basketball game. Yesterday I wrote about the matchup between Bryant U and Wagner for the NEC Championship and a ticket to March Madness. Well, Madness is the operative word. These two teams played each other twice to during the year in nailbiters, each winning once. Last night though, Braynt really put it together and were up by 33 points with just about four minutes to go. Then, maybe out of boredom with the game, Bryant and Wagner students began throwing stuff at each other and a brawl broke out. 30 minutes later the game resumed to routinely run out the clock. My peeve is that it will be the brawl that gets the news and not the amazing effort to the Bryant team. But that’s the way it is these days, isn't it. Sensationalism is the news. .
The Question:
Who was Josephine Beauharnais? Bonus: What was the more popular name for the Civil war ship, CSS Virginia? Extra Bonus: What four nations voted against the UN resolution condemning the invasion of Ukraine Russia?

Now that I went and insulted Word assistance above, I fear what will happen to me the rest of the way today.
A reader pointed out that the banner over a National Womens Day rally yesterday needed ironing.
How come many of the best-known PGA players are skipping popular tournaments like the just completed Arnie Palmer Open? Are they silently boycotting for bigger paychecks? But in the PGA there are no fairness trophies. You have to win to make the money, unlike other popular team sprots.
My math teacher called me average. She’s so mean!
Several readers wrote aghast at the madness. We ban Russia oil and are now looking a Venezuela for oil, one of the worst dictatorial nations on earth. And a year ago we were well on our way to oil independence. I blame the gas shortage on the short-sighted Global warmers.
Today is National Crab Meat Day”. Yum!
I’m looking at all of the fast-food restaurants leaving Russia and I can only believe that Russians will get healthier. But sadder.
Of course, the big worry lurking in the shadows is China, now after the Ukraine incursion and world/USA reaction possibly emboldened to hit Taiwan. But as China’s dislike of us it isn’t for the same reasons of as Russia's. Whie Russia doesn’t like the USA’s status as the most politically powerful nation, China is mostly interested in over taking us as the leading economic power. That’s where they want to wage war, so it is unlikely they will start a shooting battle that could dilute, interrupt their well-planned assault on the world economy. On the other hand, Taiwan is the critical chip capital., the key economic component for growth industries.
Putin will allow anything to benefit the goals of his friends, but his enemies mush be governed by laws.
The Answer:
Josephine B was the wife of Napoleon Bonaparte until their divorce. Bonus: The Confederate fighting ship CSS Virginia had been the USS Merrimac. It dueled the Union’s USS Monitor for five hours to a draw. Extra Bonus: In addition to Russia, the four nations voting against the UN resolution were Syria, Belarus, North Korea and Eritrea. Not a Power “A” List. At the 15 Member Security Council vote, only Russia opposed it. China and India abstained.
I got a universal remote and thought, this changes everything.
Isn’t it interesting how the universe now revolves around a small country called Ukraine when just a month or so ago it was an unspectacular land mass between Russia, Moldova, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and Belarus. And just about everybody in the world knows about it but your average North Korean.
