While we're politicking.

Today's Tids Issue 5.287

Sarcasm rocks:

Why can't hedgehogs just learn to share?

There’s talk among Russia/China watchers that the admin is misreading the China world dominance strategy. So, what’s new? Check out the following squib from the Chicago Dail Tribune in the fall of 1941: “The Chicago Daily Tribune dismissed the possibility of war with Japan, editorializing, 'She cannot attack us. That is a military impossibility. Even our base at Hawaii is beyond the effective striking power of her fleet.”

There’s no truth to the rumor that the Joint Chiefs of Staff lobbied heavily for legalized retail marijuana.

The Question:

Who are considered the top ten best male actors working today?

The Headlines:

--Dow Up, Nasdaq Not; Amazon Shares Tank After Bad Earnings and Worse Guidance.

--Arizona Senate Race Moves Back To Repubs.

--Russia Promises to Attack US Commercial Satellites, Like Musk’s Starlink.

--Liz Cheney Endorses Frost Democrat. Michigan Congress Candidate Elissa Slotkin Gets J6 Co-Chairman Nod.

--US Mortgage Rates C Soar Past 7% For first Time Since 2002.

It was an odd pickins’ last weekend when the TidsPickers were smiling on the way to a good 11-3 record but perplexed that their losses were with teams with two HoF QB’s who were supposed to win, and their own resurgent Pats. Not so fast resurgent Pats. The record is now 67.5-405 (62%) Tonight looks like a good game and really tough one to pick. Both of these teams, the Ravens and The Bucs, are a little scary in that they both seem to know how to lose despite having Brady and Jackson. I think the Ravens are a better team, but... Nah, I’ll stick with the Ravens. Two teams going nowhere, Jags and Broncs, have one playing better and that's the Jags, my choice. The Panthers woke up last week, but Atlanta is better. DaBears killed my Pats last week, but the Cowboys are no Pat-sies. The Dolphins are iffy but the lions are awful. Go Miami. The Cards and the Vikes is a tough pick. I like the grit of the Minn gridiron denizens. I’m going to take the Raiders over the Saints and in the battle of Pennsylvania, the Eagles (Who just added mighty Quinn to their team) over the Steelers. Another big in-state rivalry is Cincy and Cleveland. Cincy has found itself and the Browns haven’t.

Continuing on, Tennessee is just too disciplined to lose to the Texans and the Bills at home will be too much fro Green Bay. But it will be a fun game to watch. This brings us to some very hard picks starting with my own D-less Pats against the scrappy and successful Jets. Everybody up here is talking about the QB situation, but it has been the D who gives first downs on long yardage third downs, but I think the Pats will pull this one out. Oddly, I think the Colts against the Commanders is a hard game to pick because they both are true mysteries. I’ll go with Washington because I like the coach. In another in state rivalry we have two teams which I just can’t figure out. SB Champs LAR looks lost and San Fran is a Jeckel and Hyde team. I’ll go Rams. Lastly, we have the two surprise teams of the year, the Jints and the Seahawks. I really just don’t know. Really! I think I'll go Seahawks. It's only because of the Giants big cross the continent trip.

From an intelligent Reader who knows Italy well: “Far” right is a misnomer. The left controls Italian politics. Politics there is a negotiation between several, sometimes many, parties. And this is true all over Europe. Meloni’s party “won” with 20% which is large but not really decisive. A start in the negotiations ahead. So Mussolini coming back is far from possible. Not that anyone wants that.”

Just shows you that even the esteemed Tids can over think an issue based on reporting by people who go for the hype instead of the true substance.

This so-called NE Pats QB controversy is a good example of why real information gets mushed. The Pats have big problems elsewhere which should be highlighted, but the ratings for talk shows and sales of newspapers get higher from a QB discussion.

Putin made a wide ranging, extra-long speech yesterday. In it he created a parallel l universe, one with Russia “Facts” versus the other with rest of the world facts. He also said that the “World faces the most dangerous decade since WWII”. Of course, he is solely responsible for the most dangerous decade.

It’s not the fall the kills you. It’s the sudden stop at the end.

It bothers me that Repubs are ridiculing Fetterman because he is handicapped ed due to a stroke. Now I am fully against Fetterman for any number of his stances and ideologies that are bad for the country.

The Answer:

Number one is Leonard DiCaprio and is followed by Morgan Freeman, Robert Downy Jr, Hugh Jackman, Brad Pitt, Denzel Washington, Keanu Reeves, Matt Daman, Samuel L Jackson and Johnny Depp. The next Ten are Gary Oldman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hardy, Ryan Reynolds, Robert De Niro, Harrison Ford, Liam Neeson, Anthony Hopkins, Mathew McConaughey and Bradley Cooper
