Today's Tids Issue 5.269
Irrational Caution:
Aside from the great experience they all can bring to any table, the older folks aren't that much different than the younger people except for an occasional ache and a few things that don’t work anymore. But believe me, life doesn't really change at all with each succeeding decade... unless you let it. Except that maybe the older crowd has figured it out a little bit by then.
Is Wall Street getting a little too excited about boomsville? The indices have shown some nice growth, but is it widespread or narrowly the result of some hot winners in the Tech Sectors? That really is a big question as giddiness creeps in. Is the market breathing again because investors are tired of being down for so long?
I personally believe that a guy like Asa Hutchinson could be a very good president of this great country. Certainly, he is a strong conservative, yet he seems ot possess a great sense of balance between conservative principles and the totality of what is good for the broader needs of the country. That outrageousness on either side is only destructive. I think he could be that guy in the White House that a broader range of us might be proud of seeing there. But, in today's political, short attention span media culture, is he sexy enough to gain traction in our cavalier voting communities.
I had a girlfriend once who used to hit me with stringed instruments. She had a history of violins.
The Question:
Here are some new texting abbreviations you may find handy in talking to friends and family. GGPBL, ROFLACGU, BFF, ACCMLWTM and FWIW. What do they mean?
The Headlines:
--Dissipation of Risks and FOMO Could Push Markets Higher; Money on Sidelines Plentiful.
--Canadian Forest Fire Smoke Shuts Down Parts of NYC.
--Super TV Minister, 700 Club Founder, Pat Robertson, Dies at 93.
--DT Told He is Target of Criminal Investigation Over Mishandling of White House Docs.
Have you noticed that NYC Nanny politicians seem capable of shutting down anything except crime.
Businesses are better off just doing what they do well in delivering products and services instead of veering off into trying to become our social conscience.
I listened to a radio program this morn where a moderate 20’s to 40’s group of talkers were suggesting driver tests for people when they reach 60. I guess they are caught up in misconceptions of oldsters brought about by stereotyping elder humor. By the way, I’d much rather be on a highway with and experienced older drivers than a 20’s to 40’s woman or man texting or enjoying the aroma of pot wafting through their car.
Our Fed politicians seem to be back home a lot lately making the rounds and announcing they are giving us back our tax money with strings attached.
I lost my mood ring the other day. I’m not sure how to feel about it.
Lately I have become fascinated by benches in quiet, green treed parks. Maybe now that the tourists are clogging the more popular venues the benches are a symbol of a nicer peaceful existence.
Big companies seem to be in a paring down mode now which may become the stimulus for some decent earnings reports for the Q2.
The Answer:
GGPBL. Gotta go pacemaker battery low; ROFLACGU. Rolling on the Floor laughing and can’t get up; BFF. Best friend fell; ACCMLWTM. AutoCorrect Changed My Life Without Telling Me; FWIW. Forgot where I was. Sorry.
There doesn’t seem to be any official names for the generations that preceded the “Boomers”. They have associated with “the Greatest Generation” because of WWII and Tom Brokau’s book. But I think they could also be known as the Depression Generation. It was a time when so many learned be frugal, how to fight against economic odds beyond their control; how to sacrifice, to appreciate every little thing they were given or earned. Few in those days expected anything.
I always got a kick out of tis tune. And how great these kids can be.
