Whatever happened to movies like Gigi:
Who cares if weekends bring rain.
I am already quite insane.
Do we really need all these junketing Senators in Israel They have enough on their plate without having to worry about Protecting our politicians.
Have you ever noticed how Politician s to get elected claim that everything in America sucks. But when they want more from you after the election, they say America is the greatest country in the world and we can do anything. Except, obviously get along with each other.
The stock market is just becoming damned annoying. Day traders are a recently new uncontrollable element, often unreasonably hysterical, that defies historic analysis benchmarks., Just as the government poling its nose under the big tent corrupts the concept of free enterprises.
The Question:
What are the ten most dangerous cities in America?
The Headlines:
--Markets crumble Again under the Weight of Treasury Yields.
--Hamas frees Two American Hostages.
--Israel Attack on Military Fort Collapses Wall of Church Housing Gaza Refugees;
--Jordan Loses More Repubs as He Goes Down Aagin in Round Three.
--Another Trump Ally in George Vote Frud Case Flips and will Testify Under Plea Deal Arrangement; Lawyer Kenneth Chesbro Pleads Guilty to Felony Charge in Racketeering Case.
So apparently RSVP'ing back to a wedding invite 'maybe next time' isn't the correct response.
As an old advertising guy, I like the concept of the ads from ZipRecruiter. “Lots of companies can give you lots of hay but we find the needle in the haystack.” A simple idea that clearly differentiates their operation and promise from many others.
There is a huge College game tomorrow – Penn State against Ohio State. I root for the Nittany Lions all year long and will be his weekend. Oter games that may be worth watching are Tennessee versus Alabama in a big SEC match, Duke the early ACC darling against the ACC giant and 4th ranked nationally Florida State. Clemson is still Clemson and Miami has been trying to be the new upstart power in the ACC. So, this could be another good one. Normally Michigan State Michigan would be a classic rivalry game. It certainly still is a great rivalry but will be played under some grey clouds. One of course, is teh well known cloud over the Spartans. But just yesterday the NCAA brought allegations against the Ann Arbor athletes for stealing signals.
My new letter writing campaign is to the local TV stations to stop football from 6 to 7;30 Pm so we can bet the news and Wheel of Fortune. Ee don’t need another mediocre game.
What did E.T.'s mother say to him when he got home? "Where on Earth have you been?!"
1958 was quite the year. A lot of people over the years criticized NASA expenses by snickering over teh development of Tang and the huge cost of designing and manufacturing a toilet seat. But the research by NASA gave us in 1958 the microchip, the preamble to the good and bad of today's digital society. I was playing a lot of bridge after lunch and missing a lot of classes. Just one more hand, right? But my grades were acceptable or even good. The US launched our first Satellite, Explorer 1, inspiring the US Army to predict that multiple satellites could produce usable maps. Can you say GPS? And for eth first time solar power was used for the energy source in a remote object, setting the stage for another current household option. But everything we did didn’t work quite as well – The Edsel was introduced. Yes, the most embarrassing automotive development became a national joke. Was that the reason Datsun and Toyoda began sending more and more of their cars. A famine China began and eventually caused the deaths of 30,000,000 Chinese. Horrors. Due to a recession the unemployment rate soared to 7%. But ironically, due to low inflation, those working at an average wage of $3,851/year were considered well off! Nautilus went under the arctic ice cap, and the first jet Transatlantic flight was successful. And the airplane meals were good. Ike formally established NASA. Egypt and Syria combined to formthe UAR, And wham-O was back, this time with the fad off the Century – The Hoola-Hoop. I never got the rhythm. On TV Candid Camera was making people laugh as was the incomparable Jack Benny. The Top movies were “Auntie Mane”, “A Touch of Evil", “Vertigo” and a romcom “Indiscreet”, and te Charmer of the century, “Gigi”. The Kingston Trio gave us Tom Dooley and became the rage at college campus concerts. The Coasters were bakcwith Yakety Yak. Other pop songs were “The Purple People Eater”, “Catch a Falling Star’, “All I haveto do is Dream:”, “Sing along Silvery Moon and a song I really didn’t like that much bit which climbed to #1 -- “Volare”. Pop music was less and less popular as college kids were discovering some heavy-duty Rock and Roll. Our house on campus was party central after one bro found an all black band in a basement club of a brothel in Reading Pa. “King Twig.” I don’t know why he was there. What happens in Reading stays in Reading. Their rendition of “What’d I Say”, complete with sweat, literally shook the house. They were the real deal, not some contrived rock imitation fr commercial purposes. commercial purpoes. Dixieland as number ! Was seeing its final days.
Did you know there is a college Named “Incarnate Word University”? Iir was founded in 1881 by the Sisters of Charity in San Antonio and is the largest Catholic University in Texas. Thye have a football team and this week are playing Weber State. I just have trouble saying, “Go Incarnates sis-boom-ba”.
The Answer:

Have a great weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
I'd like to leave you with a tune, I thought first about Ray Charles “What’d I Say”.
But I remembered Gigi had some more relaxing, feeling songs for the weekend. Here’s one. The complete soundtrack recording is a good one. (If you are interested, scroll down. There are tow songs here.)
