Don’t you think it’s kind of sad that the most thoughtful and least commercial national holiday has evolved into merely a stepping stone for the biggest sale's day of the eyar.. The day which has always been devoted to caring and thankfulness has become a for planning how to get on a line early. I’d rather think of Cranberry Jello molds and the smiles of people saying, not Cranbury mold again. 

 

I liked the words of Princess Kate yesterday in her first public speech since cancer. An early childhood advocate, she told London's business leaders: “The love we feel in our earliest years fundamentally shapes who we become and how we thrive as adults". She went on to say: “A loving home ultimately teaches us how to love and how to care, but every environment has the potential to shape our hearts. Every one of you interacts with your own environment; a home, a family, a business, a workforce, a community. These are the ecosystems that you yourselves help to weave. “Imagine a world where each of these environments were built on valuing time and tenderness just as much as productivity and success. As business leaders you will face the daily challenge of finding the balance between profitability and having a positive impact. But the two are not and should not be incompatible.” 

 

Warren Buffet pretty much echoed the same feeling in his final official message before retiring, success is measured by kindness and character, not wealth,”

I read a blurb this morning that said ordering in a pizza for thanksgiving can give you the taste of Turkey feast without the fuss.   No, time spent together laboriously creating a magical meal of traditional favorite dishes is part of the togetherness embodied in the special day; a lot more meaningful than waiting for a pizza delivery service to show up.

There are not many interesting college games this weekend. Probably the most intriguing national game to me is USC-Oregon. Mighty Georgia and Alabama are playing the Sisters of the poor. Ohio State is favored by 31 points over fellow Big10 member Rutgers. But this is also the week of great rivalries including two of the oldest and most played -- Harvard-Yale and Lehigh-Lafayette. BTW, between those four FCS division teams, Lehigh is ranked number four nationally, Harvard 10, Lafayette 24 and Yale 25.  

 

Just in case you hadn’t noticed, OPen AI has committed over One Trillion Dollars to data center build out with no promise of positive cash flow.  

 

Maybe enlightenment will come from knowledge. If somebody's paying attention.

In November 1980 83 million viewers tuned into find out who shot JR. It was revealed that Kristen Shepherd pregnant with his child had shot him for betraying her by going bakc on his promise. They tried it again in the 2013 sequel finale when it was revealed that JR asked Steve “Bum” Jones to shoot him so he could frame Cliff Barnes for his murder. JR was ok with being killed as he was dying from cancer (As was Larry Hagman in real life.)
