I'll take Earl Grey, thank you.

I hate to talk about something as important as the Wisconsin election thing. Not talking and certainly not predicting are key elements of an avoidance of hexation strategy. This race seems to have boiled down to which side gets out the vote. Most of the facts that Barrett has used against Walker have bee soundly refuted. But, as we all know by now, facts have been replaced by emotion in the USA these days. I look at the outcome here as similar to wrapping the little string around the tea bag to get out every last drop of juice!

Venus will appear as a small spot traipsing across the Sun four about seven hours today. The bad news is that if you miss it today you won't be able to see it again til 2117. The other bad new is that unless you have special solar filters or #14 welder's glass or eclipse glasses, you won't be able to watch it without suffering severe eye damage. Sounds like fun. Take a welder to lunch.

Warning: I may drop a few extra typos today as I'm watching the British parade on TV while I type.

The Question:
In honor of the Wisconsin re-call election and the Queen, name five different types of tea.

I have never liked the NY Mets since the beginning of their time. Something about that team, and their football cousins, The Jets, that has always bothered me. Now that Bill Maher is liking them enough to become a part owner, I now know why! They're shallow.

Here's why Governments should stay out of business, and it is happening right here in the home of the New Miss USA -- Rhode Island. Just checkout how Governor Chafee-Lite of RI is taking us into the twilight zone, when you realize that one of his new appointees to the state's Economic Development Committee is the former head of Planned Parenthood and leading abortion doc. The old "Smithee" seems to be intent in developing an in-state economic reality with the appointments in addition to the the killer doc...a sand and gavel company owner, and art gallery owner, a local savings and lone bank Prez and a carpenters union chief. The only economic development plan that will work is the complete obliteration of the General Assembly. But, hey, I want our 37% Governor to feel good. So keep up the charade.

I forgot to warn new Tid's readers about typos in general. Summer Monday's are typically the worst of the week. Except on those other four days when I'm in an occasional rush. Or, whenever the Brits have a parade celebrating a Queen's 60 years on a throne. But, the good news is that I think the typos are less frequent than in earlier years. I usually discover them right after I hit the send button.

I think British women wear big hats to make their faces look smaller.

China seems to be getting real tired of the USA's nannies. The constant reporting of Beijing smog appears to be just the latest in a stream of "we-know-your-country-better-than-you-do" reports, which is rankling the leaders of our country's main creditor nation. Frankly, I too am getting tired of bureaucrats defining my life...and the only thing the US Gov owes me is all that money that LBJ stole from the SS "Trust" fund.

I'm looking for a last ditch effort by the Celtic oldsters and a big upset tonight. But then, I said that Martin Brodeur had one more championship left in his career. The return of Bosh will make it tougher for the Celts to run their offense. But, Garnett, Pierce, Allen and the often utterly amazing Rondo will suck it up one more time. The real question is whether or not they will have anything left for the last two games.

You can tell how cold the weather is outside, by how heavy your blue jeans feel upon your legs. If they feel heavy, wear shorts. If they feel light, keep them on and wear a fleece too!

As far as I can determine, teen age girls actually rule the world.

I see where for the next two weeks the RI State House will be flying the Boston Red Sox "Fenway Park Banner"! I wonder if there'll be a bloody sock dangling from it blowing in cool Ocean State breezes?

The Answer:
All of the true teas are produced from a plant called Carmellia sinensis. There are four main types of tea -- White, Green, Black and Oolong. Herbal teas are not tea at all, but different combinations of herbs. White is purest and least processed. Green is the most popular world wide and favorite of Asians. Oolong is what is typically found in Chinese restaurants. Black Tea is the most common among Americans using Tea Bags.

How about that...Black is the color of Tea Bag tea! Who would have guessed it.

God Save the Queen! I'll sip to that.

Funniest home Videos.

About two weeks or so ago we saw the world Leaders tromping around Camp David only stopping occasionally for photo ops with smiling faces. The photos and videos we saw were accompanied by news reports like "World Leaders keenly focused on solving Europe Debt problems". Aha, rejoice...the world is saved from economic disaster. Yesterday the market went down 161 points and the news was accompanied by phrases like "Fearing a financial 'Rupture' in Europe..." Oh yeah, the yield on a benchmark US bond hit its lowest point since World War II. Moral of the story: When World Leaders smile together, run!

There are signs coming from both sides indicating that the two presidential candidates will keep their campaigns well above the mud. Unfortunately the big money is in the Super Pacs which will shovel out the crap in huge annoying mounds.

The Question:
Andie MacDowell must be getting older because the ex-Model turned movie star first appeared on the big screen in 1984. What was the name of that first movie. Another actress who seems to have been around for 100 years is Brook Shields. How old do you think she is?

The only significant group that unions really have left are public employees. That's one big reason why the Wisconsin recall vote is so important. The big difference between the vote and last year's rallies against Gov. Walker is that the bulk of the massive protest turnout came from other states and can't vote there  now. We hope.

FDR as everybody knows explained the insurmountable differences between private sector collective bargaining and that where employees unite against their neighbors who are in fact the employers. Public Employee Unions are basically an unnatural entity. A logician's enigma.

Where are you if you see a pig wearing a scarf, feeling beautiful, walking calmly down a highway? You might think it was the ever fashionable San Fransisco. But, no it was the old steel town it self, Pittsburgh. The pig, by the way, and has been quite elusive. The State Police have set up Beau Pig twitter account, but so far the Pig has not answered.

Yesterday, President Obama called Romney to congratulate him on achieving his official status as GOP Nominee.. Now, if I was the Mittster, I'd be standing there looking at the phone wondering where and when  the Commander and Chief was going to begin flanking maneuvers.

Do you find that you think you have nothing to do, yet you are continually battling to find enough time to do nothing.

I think the failure of the FaceBook IPO is a good thing. It is a warning to everybody that foolish risk taking will not be rewarded. It has many other small companies with delusions rethinking IPO's. So why is it a good thing? Well, the Clinton recession of the late 1990's was the result mainly of businesses that were financed upon a promise and unable to sustain the promises. Most stocks were sold based on "theoretical", MBA Biz Plan style potential and the aura of good results for one or two companies with substance like Microsoft or Amazon. FaceBook has elements of promise. But, perhaps this time investors remembered history.

Rondo can shoot?
The Answer:
Personally, I got the answer wrong. I thought it was "Sex, Lies and Video Tape" because that is the first time she made an impression on me. She started her career as a fresh faced cosmetics model and then got her breakthrough role as Jane in Greysroke: The Legend Of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes. Interestingly the voice of Glenn Close was dubbed in and the audience missed the natural calming North Carolina cadence of her voice. Brook Shields is but 47.

This Tids feels like a quiet summer day in the country. With insects buzzing and field grass high and gently waving in breezes. And the creaking of the clasps as I swing gently in a hammock.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
And nothin' but nothin' goin' on.
