May the Star Spangled Banner Wave

Today's Tids Issue 4,686

I'd Like to have lunch with George Washington:

Happy 4th, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y! Let hope all of our city and town squares are full of people celebrating America. It’s kind of sad to think that I have to say that.

Parking: An average sovereign

Opinions aren’t facts. And it appears that some facts are based merely on the repetition of opinions.

What are the chances that the Disney + Streaming network will go down tonight when Hamilton premieres?

I think I’m resting today.

The Question:

What ae considered the five top patriotic songs about America?

The Headlines:

--Markets Holding Steady As Brokers Take The Day Off To Celebrate Birth Of Nation; London Stocks Fall.

--Fed, State And Local Officials Asking People To Stay Close To Home To Celebrate The 4th As New Concerns Over Growth Of Virus; 50K New Cases Yesterday Sets Record.,

--US Prosecutors Attempting To Seize Iran Gas Shipments To Venezuela.

--Epstein Associate Heiress Christina Maxwell Arrested; Authorities Belief That She Could Tell All Has “All” Concerned.

--Death Toll After Myanmar Mine Collapse Rises To 162.

--.

Did you see that new trend among college kids who are having Covid19 parties? The main objective is trying to get Covid before others. Yikes! And these are the same kids who are believing in rewritten American history.

Oldies but Punnies, Department:

--Did you hear about the guy whose whole left side was cut off? He’s all right now.

--A three-legged dog walks in to a saloon in the old west. He slides up to the bar and announces, “I’m looking for the man who shot my paw.”

Weird Science, Department:

In another aspect of those Covid Parties, it is said athletes of major colleges are hoping to get Covid now so it won’t affect them later when their sports season opens.

One of the reasons I have been less than enthusiastic about the popular Broadway show Hamilton, is because the audience booed VP Pence when he attended it just after winning the election. I’m thinking, if that’s the kind of rude audience that appreciates Hamilton, then maybe it’s not for me.

Biscuits and speeches are better when made with shortening.

The Answer:

The National Anthem is not among the Top favorite Patriot songs, but The Star-Spangled Banner should always be first!! the tops are  America the Beautiful, God Bless America, My Country Tis of Thee, Battle Hymn of the Republic, Stars and Stripes Forever, Yankee Doodle and You’re a Grand Old Flag. And I like Proud to be an American.

I began this morning sitting with friends in a grassy park that spreads down to the rocky coast, above deep blue waters. We laughed and discussed the aches of the world, and our own. We were in God’s nature and the free people’s USA. Some would say, what do you guys know? You are from the past. But what that segment of population called “they” doesn’t quite understand is that we see a bigger picture. We understand repercussions from over reactions. We have seen urgent priorities of the moment come and go. We all grew up learning about responsibility. The young will say “You don’t understand us. It’s a different world.” Yeah, we do understand you and see the changing world. That’s what has us worried. God Bless America. Houses upon good foundations stand against storms, and grow upon unity.

Have a Happy Birthday of The USA…E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!

I’ve stopped listening

Chapter 2?:

I live a new world I do not no know.

I think I’ll take a nap.

You probably though this was going to be a thoughtful poem, didn’t you?

It appears that a good Q2 earnings report will be one that beats really, really ugly predictions. In other words, beating Bad will be the measure upon which whether stocks go up or down.

Did I tell you about my friend who went to the Drive-in Theater to see “Closed for the Winter”? He said he got a front row parking spot.

It is pretty obvious we are succumbing to mob rule. and until the election is over, cowardly politicos will knuckle under to the loudest voices.

The Question:

Nostradamus was the great predictor of the 16th century. Name his five greatest predictions.

The Headlines:

--Market Futures Point To Strong Opening; June Jobs Report Expected To Show Addition Of 3 Million Jobs, Lower Unemployment.

--78% of Russians Vote To Back Constitutional Reform That Would Keep Putin In Power Until 2036.

--Seattle Police Clear Out CHOP Takeover of City Blocks.

--Health Organization Announces New Progress On Covid Vaccine.

--House Votes To Extend Small Biz Loan Program To August.

--Former GW Bush Officials Form PAC To Support Biden; Trump Job Approval Dips As Covid Cases Rise.

--Hundreds Of Hong Kong Protestors Arrested; “One Country, Two Systems Likely To Disappear..

Sometimes I get a great new idea from a typo. I call it RWMPCS – Random Word Medial Prefrontal Cortex Stimulation.

Oldies but Punnies, Department:

--I had a mustard colored dog. He was a Gulden retriever.

--Two atoms are walking down the street and they run into each other. One says to the other, “Are you alright?” “No, I just lost an electron.” Are you sure?” “Yes, I’m positive.

Its’ not that difficult. When protesting mobs start walking through neighborhoods, people get really nervous, and the protest movements begin to lose whatever sympathy they had acquired. It becomes them against us all over again.

“I’m at the age where food has taken the place of sex in my life. In fact, I’ve just put a mirror over my kitchen table.” –Rodney Dangerfield.

Sunnyside Economics, Department:

Financial forecasters like the idea of new Covid Cases. They say it tends to lessen the chance of knockout blow from a second wave. They also like the idea that most forecasts are highly conservative, making it easier for the economy to beat them.

Here’s where conservatives lose their credibility. A pretty good NYC talk show guy, Mac Simone, yesterday poo-pooed the book by Mary Trump as the work of some “Distant relative”. Mary is Trumps naive, his brother’s daughter. If opinions are to be accepted, they have to resemble actuality. As I have often said, it is easy to get people who agree with you to nod yes. But, where does that get you if your ae trying to change the world?

Trump has to learn the same thing, that throwing his ardent supporters’ raw meat will not help him get those crossover voters which he desperately needs to stay in office. And regardless of any flubs Biden may make, the press will always report more negatives about Trump. that’s just the reality of this campaign.

“I never vote for anyone. I just vote against.”  --WC Fields

Remember the old Reagan axiom – “Never pay ransom to a terrorist.” We are essentially paying a ransom very time a Mayor orders the removal of a statue. Just remember that vocal groups are not the masses. Petitions aren’t votes.

“Inside every cynical person there is a disappointed idealist.” –George Carlin

The Answer:

Nostradamus made predictions almost 500 years ago which some use today as still viable for what’s to come from now – like global warming, WWIII and Restrictive childbearing. His Top5 are: 1. A Great Volcanic eruption that will kill 6,000 (Vesuvius). 2. Worst Earthquake in history (People Today are thinking San Francisco). 3. “A Climate catastrophe that will burn the earth for years”.(Guess). 4. “A war between two great powers will start and last for 27 years” ( US, Russia China WWIII). 5. Catastrophes will produce economic collapse (Covid).

Any predictions of the past will eventually come true if we wait long enough.

The Month America Rose:

Ban! Bam! Boom! It’s July! But wait just one minute… there may not be any booms and Bams this year as all of the big Fireworks gatherings have been stopped. But, true pride in America doesn’t pause. It doesn’t need a firecracker to ignite emotions. Just recalling the sound of muskets on Lexington Green, and firing over Concord stone walls is one vision that keeps us all standing tall. The farmers and townspeople who rose up together to seek freedom from the powerful armies from across the sea. Yes, hotdogs are nice and parades are thrilling, but the sprit inside the hearts of Americans is always what this Fourth of July is all about. This is the day we remember the beginnings of greatness. This is July which gives us  the day we reaffirm the tenets of America’s foundation of freedom. This is a July to member more than ever. Out of many, one.

May the Fourth be with you!

If a knight in Prague dons his armor, does that mean the Czech is in the mail? –From one of our all-time reader punnywoman

I learned today while walking through the drug store section of a Supermarket that the “Facial Hair” aisle does not have razors. That’s why wives don’t let me shop.

Just what we needed, a new challenging variety of swine flu from Chania. But don’t call it Confusions Flu, or Flu Manchu, or the USA loonies will get mad at you.

During the last couple of weeks, the economy has shown us that it has the ability to bounce back pretty quickly. But, we are also seeing that the staying power of even some of our strongest businesses and institutions is being strained, is limited. The cost of maintaining operations for profit or not for profit is enormous. There are serious signs emerging that show us that the infusion of capital without advancing revenue is a force even more dramatic than perhaps originally thought. We all of a sudden are seeing erosion at its cruelest. The Covid case increase is real. It’s not only as a threat to business, academia, charities and even local governments, but to an economy that may not be able to overcome a series of false starts; an economy that can’t succeed on government largess alone.

The Question:

Two super movie stars who died on the exact same day were stars in one of the great Oscar wing movies our time. The 1955 movie pushed one of them to the top of the heap Who were the two? Hint: “I coulda bin a champion.”

The Headlines:

--Markets Opens Lower As Covid Cases Climb And Economy Greys.

--Fauci Says CV Surge Is Caused By Reopening’s; Casts Dire Scenario For Future If Brakes Aren’t Applied To Free Living; New Data Show More Peel Under 40 Are Victims, With Serious Illnesses.

--Israel Orders Christian Network God TV Off The Air.

--Supreme Court Strikes Dawn Obama Ruel Giving Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Too Much Freedom.

--As Crime In NYC Grows City Council Passes Budget Defunding Police By $1 Billion.

--Australia Seeking More Long Range Missiles In Pacific Defense Shift.

During this Covid thing, it has become pretty obvious that a majority of people don’t pay attention to signs in aisles. I guess that’s why we have lawyers.

You don’t run tough a camp. You ran through a camp because it is past tents.

I’m always suspect of people who say they absolutely love to work out.

The Covid is killing the good stuff. For years and years there has been a great country eating place named Oatley’s in a rural section of RI. They just serve good old solid super quality food like mom made, cooked by chefs trained by their hearts. Covid knocked them out. The greatest minds can’t remake the down home organic roots reality of the past. Is the “Middle-of-Nowhere” Diner next?

While the US Media seems to focus on repetitive anecdotal incidents, tensions between nuke powers China and India Heighten. Serious International Observers are becoming increasingly cons rend over India’s alarm over China encroachment. And just to make it more tense, the other regional nuke power Pakistan just tis morning accused India of staging the attack on their Stock Markets.  It’s tough to keep your powder dry when the keg is nuclear.

Oldies but Punnies, Department:

--I thought I saw an eye doctor on an Alaskan island, but it turned out to be an optical Aleutian.

--A guy goes to a psychiatrist. “Doc, I keep on having these alternate recurring dreams. First I’m a teepee, then I’m a wigwam, then I’m a teepee, then I’m a wigwam. It’s driving me crazy. What’s wrong with me?” The doc looks at him, and says, “Simple, you’re two tents.”

There is long-time term for pollical operatives in fed and state legislatures – Minority or majority Whip. But whip may as a commonly accepted term may be the next dumpster donee. I think you know why.

A lot of people will have to learn that it isn’t “Happy-Go-Lucky” ss usual when the germs are in charge.

The Answer:

Today July 1 in 2004 Marlon Brando died at 80. Five years later on this same day Karl Malden Died at 97. On The Waterfront is the film that made Marlon Brando the man! The film won five Oscars including for Best Picture, Best Director (Elia Kazan) and Best Supporting Actress (Eva Marie Saint). But, the picture is remembered for Marlon and Karl.

Enjoy the first day of July, everybody! Is It winter yet?
