Today's Tids Issue 3,064
Opening Stuff:
The article in the paper
this morning
said that people who get up early in the morning are thinner. Somebody
commented to me that it was probably because early risers go outside and jog or
work out. No, that’s not the way I want to see it. I just want to wake up early,
and watch the pounds disappear.
Every time I try to forward a negative
joke about President Obama, my computer freezes. Do you think the NSA is
watching me?
A reader sent me a great
list of ideas of things Obama could do to bring Putin and the Russian economy to their
knees. They are mostly executive orders that Obama has foisted upon us – like banning coal or prohibiting oil drilling on
public lands or raising the minimum wage – and our economy is dragging. Of
course, the nuclear option would be sending in the EPA to enforce rulings on
the Russia businesses.
The Question:
1.
Other Than the Third Reich, what was Hitler’s favorite thing? 2. Elvis was addicted
to one well known comedy troop and in particular one of their sketches. Name
them. 3. Who was Walt Disney’s favorite artist? 4. What was Ayn Rand’s favorite
TV show?

I don’t read articles with headlines like “Five signs
you’ll get Cancer”. Frankly I’m not interested.
One of the great reasons to live up here in the cold
northeast is that we have places like Hill Top Creamery and Frosty Freeze which
shut down between fall and spring. How great is it then when they open their
doors to long lines of eager ice cream lovers (Like early this week when the
line was over a 100 feet long at Frosty freeze.) You know, in this “anything
you want you can have” world, it’s nice to know that are still some things you love
are always better when you have to wait for them.
Remember that when a rather smug
President Obama declared, “The Affordable Care Act is here to stay”, it was
April Fools day. And, as Jimmy Kummel pointed: “It is amazing what you can achieve
when you make something mandatory (enforced by fines).” Of course this is now,
but in the Fall companies and people will feel the reality of cost estimates
and lost policies for millions. Businesses will feel effects when Obama mandate
delays end and companies and employees have to face the consequences of higher
costing health insurance. His acclaimed success, according to The Rand
Corporation, is quite slim when you consider that the main stated objective of the
Health Monster was to insure the uninsured. The estimate of success there is
about a meager 1.9%! The ramifications of ACA are just beginning. Stay tuned.
It’s looking like a little rain for the
weekend. You may want to consider binging on “Justified”. Next Tuesday is the
finale for the season and I guarantee it will be riveting. But, if you aren’t
on board yet, you may want to at least catch up on this season.
There’s a new commercial out for Top Flite golf
balls that is about as schoolboy juvenile as it gets. But it will get some
yucks from the yahoos.
I don’t really like these
new style
deeper crown baseball hats. Or golf hats, or whatever they’re called.
It was good the American
Idol judges
used the save last night on Sam. He actually sang pretty well for his supper,
much better than he has lately in the competition. I think the judges just saw
nobody who they thought was decent going too early. I believe they used it just
to get rid of it. Now, it is really final.
Did you see where Obama just gave Putin $1,000,000,000?
Yup, our President gave Ukraine the money to pay Russia for increased gas
prices.
Reading between the lines
Movie Reviews:
--Captain
America looks like a winner. It may be too loud and rambunctious for some, but
it is a good movie where Captain A” and the Black Widow” fight a shadowy
character in present day Washington DC (It is not Lois Learner). An underlying
theme in this one is the public acquiescing to giving up their freedom for glowing
promises of controlled fascist society. It’s a warning for all of this. Maybe
it is a way to get through to the uninformed voters.
The Answer:
1.
The most famous madman of all loved old American Cowboy movies. 2. Elvis Presley
had many addictions and one was Monte Python and their sketch “Nudge, Nudge”. He
called everybody “Squire”. 3. Walt Disney couldn’t get enough of Salvador Dali.
4. Ayn Rand was devoted to Charlie’s Angels.
So, there you have it… people are just people after
all.
See you guys on Monday, and will restart
the Novel.
