Noise hurts.

Today's Tids Issue 3,169
Opening Stuff:

Harbors are quite a amazing. The sounds. Horns calling, the soft rumble of launches fetching. The halyards clanging against masts, snapping a tune of wanderlust. The tides rushing around moorings. Gentle breezes whistling through rigging. Soft waves lapping at pilings. The Sights: Seagulls sitting top masts silhouetted  against a setting orange sun, rocking to rhythm ot the sea. Sailors lugging duffels aboard for an evening cruise, the first leg of a journey to discovery. The calm wakes of incoming boats finding their nighttime havens. The splash of sea creatures who are getting back the waters after human play. Oars hitting the glassy surface propelling ever widen ripples to the sleepy shore. The senses: I sit on bow hatch, feeling the gentle rock like a baby in a mothers secure arms; I feel the cooling evening creeping up my skin; I taste the salty mist with my tongue.

One of the great examples of the new bias in America can be seen in the issuing of fines against traditional energy companies is cases of animal kills or environmental disruption versus the blatant waving of fines for similar incidents for wind and solar companies.

I’ve thought of getting a coffee bean grinder. But, that harsh noise before I had a chance to awaken gently to soft music could injure my psyche for the rest of the day. It’s also the reason I never turn on political commentators til late in the day.

The Internet if anything, is the biggest Advertising medium ever in the history of marketing. Sucking people in to give away all of their personal info and accept tracking is all for the benefit of advertisers. It is not about anything more than that.

It was reported that a US Coast Guard boat in the Persian gulf fired on an Iranian Dhow which seemed poised to fire a machine gun. My first question is what are US Coast Guard boats doing guarding coasts in the Persian Gulf? Have hwe quietly annexed new territory?

Have you ever thought about how Facebook can assault family budgets? For centuries people, women mainly, could get by with a smallish wardrobe. But now with the universal exposure medium, a new dress is needed for every large occasion or small gathering which certainly will be broadcast to the world. And then, you need an addition to the house for a larger closet. Ooh, she wore that on FaceBook yesterday!

In case you are wondering about that local supermarket news item, it’s about employees of a non-union company becoming irate after relatives of the founding family ousted the family member who made the chain great for workers and consumers. It’s about people making things happen. It can be done without Government. Really.

Speaking of family business, how about that sister of the Boston Bombers making a bomb threat against another woman in NY? The brainless rule.

The zero earnings company Snapchat was valued at $10 Billion yesterday, probably in anticipation of an IPO. In case you all have big bucks on the sideline, you may want to take a gander at other hot M&A targets – Yelp, WebMD, TrueCar and Demand Media.

Well, tonight we begin our last stretch of exhibition games in the annual transition to real football – well, as real as the football tsars will allow. Tonight will be interesting up here as the Pats go against the Jints with rookie QB Garafolo expected to be given the chance to live or die for the entire game. He is the new fan favorite, and the women have already put him ahead of Brady in the handsome column. --The Brown are trying to find consistency in there QB situation which could be diminished with the affirmation of Josh Gordon’s year long suspensions. --The NFL has penalized the Seattle Seahawks for being “Too Rough” during practice! God help us. –Jerry Jones says his Cowboys are the NFL glamour team. They play like runway models.

Next week it is what you’re all waiting for – the inaugural Tids Touchdown Tips and Pickum’ Society at work. How exciting is that!

Do you get the sense that a noose being tightened around Israel?

The hot new diet buster in RI is the lobster version of the Clam Cake called Lobster Belly Bombs. They are chock full of lobster right off the boat and sold by the Fisherman’s Cooperative at Long wharf. Oh, you can do much better buying lobsters off the boats in Galilee down in Narragansett. You used to get deals in Newport too, until they got organized. They must have received money from some Gov agency, because they sure don’t operate like a competitive biz.

The Answer:
#1 College for good eating is Bowdoin College up in Maine (Lobster every knight?) The rest are Johns Hopkins, Columbia, Kennesaw State U, Northwestern, U of Rochester, NYU, Occidental, Duke and Boston University.

Well, you can criticize the Net, but without it you wouldn’t get the Tids.
