Today's Tids Issue 3,338
Opening Stuff:
As I walk around town
and see families, mom and dad and girls and boys, I think that while the future
will certainly not be like my past, it may be in very good hands. While the
extraneous in the world get the press the solid foundations of society still
strive and will rise to overcome the trend towards underachievement. People
always rise towards goodness, and the current cycle that seems to dwell more on
negativity and dysfunction will change radically to accomplishment and a
reverence towards harmony.
Sailors set off on
leg 7 of the around the world race, and ISIS is marauding through Ramadi. Kind
of eerie as you look at two desperate universes in the same atmosphere. But, I
guess that is the way it ahs always been, it’s just that now we have more ways
to see what incongruities which are occurng simultaneously.
I’m missing the crisp
cool smells of winter. Maybe it’s because the heat of summer exaggerates
the odors of decaying garbage. Get me outta here.
Maybe Nigerian Troops
should be sent to Iraq. They seem to be doing a great job against Boco Haram.
The Question:
Who, except for a few Hydrox advocates, doesn’t like an Oreo
cookie. The company has tried over the years to capitalize on the success with
other flavor versions. Name five.

The more I watch the
President, the more I’m convinced that he is still just basically a
community organizer. Either he is incapable of it or chooses not to grasp the
big picture of America.
The way Wisconsin
Democrats continually angrily over react, you just have to know that Scott
Walker Is doing great things.
Tonight is the Finale
of The Voice, and last night I was ready to award Koryn the prize as she
started her second song. She was powerful in song one, and excellent in a Williams
duet. In her third appearance, she started beautifully, and then her notes started
to get flat , at least to my aging ear.
(Maybe flat is the new melody!) In the end though, I have to say Sawyer
recouped it with his Neil Young song, Old Man. On the whole last night
everybody did a pretty good job, and Joshua may have had his best night yet. Meghan
was Meghan all over again, and that is always good, but not necessarily stand
out from the crowd exceptional. I’m guessing that tonight we’ll be saluting
Sawyer. The voting will probably go Sawyer, Meghan, Joshua, Koryn…although I
would put Koryn as number 2.
And that brings us to
the other big TV entertainment finale – the best Dancin’ with the Stars person.
I don’t watch it religiously. Actually I’m pretty agnostic about it. But, The
Tids gotta talk about Tids stuff, so here’s what I know about who’s going to win. First, everybody loves Noah, not just
because of the handicaps he overcomes show after show, but also for how well he
does it. He can dance. But as one advocate tells me, this is a dance contest,
and It Rumer Willis and Riker are extraordinary dancers. I think that rumer has
the edge here, even though Riker is probably the best innovator of the group;
the guy who creates excitement. But, Rumer reaches deeper into the hearts of
viewers, and that combined with excellent dancing seems to give her the advantage.
Maybe Rumer can dance while Sawter sings. The kids have it.
That Texas shootout
between biker gangs with a bunch of guys who all looked alike just
illustrates that some stereotypes are quite accurate.
For all of those
states having trouble finding new ways to disguise tax increases, I have
two words: Stop spending!
As a reward fro
passing tests, teachers in Hampton High near Charleston WVa allowed a class
to watch 50 Shades Of Grey. The teacher who had no idea what the movie was
about, had left the room so the kids could enjoy their prize in peace. The Principle
just happened to walk by as principals often do, and noticed the event. Of course,
it immediately ended. Teachers should know by the lascivious smiles on kids
faces that they might want to take another look at the student’s enthusiasm.
The big new trend
among the young super rich financial wizards in NYC is giving wives large yearend
Bonuses for having clean clothes, neat houses and kids who don’t snivel. Some
wives, many of whom are well educated, significantly smart and accomplished in
their own right are waking up to the very real fact that maybe they are being
treated more like prostitutes than
loving wives. See, having lots of money isn’t so hot after all.
I have t say that
tourism is a stupid industry upon which to build an economy. Tourism is a
little like a Ponzi scheme, that requires more and more “investors” to come to
an area to keep the money flowing. It is not a self sustaining economy. I’s an economy
based on people thinking they’re having fun roaming streets of towns looking
for Fudge shops. It’s what 3rd world countries do when there is little
education or high skill development. Hey, there are a lot of smart people in this
business, many making great money, but…I guess I just like a then bar set a
little higher.
The way unions are
pouring millions into the Clinton foundation, you have to figure that these
bosses are pretty charitable guys.
I’m hearing of too
many incidents that never get reported. Is this because the media is
understaffed, or is it just that some stories interfere with an agenda? One I
just heard has a school bus of college students just back from a flied trip driving
to campus through an abutting less than desirable neighborhood, only to be
bombarded by bricks and who knows what else. Windows were smashed and several
students were sent to the hospital. Just a bunch of thugs with nothing to do. And
just a bunch of reports wo thought nothing of it. Hey..wait a minute…did I just
say “Thugs”.
If elected,
Hillary may be the Most Owned in history. Everybody and everything is buying a piece
of her.
Need a job,
department:
Manpower reports that the number one need of employers is “skilled
trades” jobs – Chefs, Plumbers, Electricians, Electricians, Butchers, Bakers, Mechanics,
etc. Next is Drivers followed by Sales Representatives and then at #5 a broad
category that includes secretaries, PA’s,
Receptionists, Office Support and Admin Assistants. #6 is Corporate Management/Exec
followed by #7 Nurses, Technicians, Accounting and Finance Staff and #10
Engineers.
Speaking of
sweetening the pot, every year in the spring I buy a carton of Oreo six
packs. I keep a pack or two or three or four in my golf bag for those sagging
moments. Now I see that the great old sandwich cookie wizards have introduced a
new “S’mores” version. It’s a Graham cracker cookie, that looks like a regular
Oreo, but with chocolate and marshmallow (Non sticky) crème inside. Think they’ll
let me build a campfire on the fifteenth hole?
The Answer:
In addition to the S’mores above we have Cool Mint, Peanut
Butter, Berry Burst Ice Cream, Triple Double Neapolitan, Watermelon (Ugh) and
Birthday Cake Frosting.
Friends let friends
lick the cream from the inside of their Oreo cookie.
