Today's Tids Issue 3,507
Opening Stuff:

I was surfing through the channels looking for Fox Business, when I came to Family Feud. “Aha!”, I said, “the Republican debate.”

It turned out that Fox Biz was the next channel down and I tuned into more laughter plus boos and rabid, often maniacal applause, as our intrepid candidates insulted each other while praising them with their other mouth. Frankly, a lot of them made good points, including Trump who surprised many when he, in defense of NYC, gave a sincere, well thought out presentation on the quality of that city’s denizens. You don’t generally see “Sincere” and “Well Thought Out” associated with descriptions of the land baron. He also got points for the way he countered Hillary’s accusation of angry Americans saying he is proud to be called angry when he sees a great nation changing for the worse before his eyes. Carson delivered his passion on the moral decay of a new secular America and got to the hearts of the people the way he had done it earlier in the race. The two big second place candidates, Cruz and Rubio looked very strong in their positioning pleas. Christie continues to be a favorite of mine, and easily pushed aside some of the Republican “family” criticism. Kasich has one of the best records of them all, and always says the right things as he did last night. But the Ohio Governor just doesn’t have what it takes to cut through TrumpEuphoria. Jeb, another with a great record of accomplishment, kept hollering in from the side lines, and seemed like the real outsider last night. I believe Trump may have added a few more supporters and Rubio to me seemed like he took second.

Some people are Tweeters and others are Tidsers. That’s just the way the world is.

The Question:
The new movie about Benghazi, 13 Hours, was directed by Michael Bay. Name four of his other films.

I see where Sesame Street is now moving to HBO. Does that mean that Big Bird can now liberally use the “F” word? As one of our anything goes candidates said, “What difference does it make anyhow?” If our children can’t learn the F Word, how will they know how to laugh at comedians?

This is the best weekend of the NFL. Did I say that Last week? What a disaster it was for home teams. One of the more intriguing games is Carolina, who seemed to glide through the season, versus Seattle, who had to continuously struggled to regain their stature of the past several years. A lot of people still wondering if the Panthers are that good. I’m one and picking Seattle. New Englanders want Pitt to beat Denver, and it will be close. The Roethlisberger and more importantly Antonio Brown, injuries seem to give the home field Broncos the edge. Will be close. (Bulletin: Brown just ruled out of the game) Arizona is a very good team, and I have to ask which Green Bay team will show up. Arizona to win. Up here, New Englanders are not very optimistic going into tomorrow. They have looked so unlike the Pats losing 4 of 6 games to close out the year, and now Gronk has a back ache and Chandler Jones was found wandering in the cold hallucinating on synthetic marijuana. This is also very unpatriot. The real Key is the “O” line. C has been terrific closing out the season and Smith to me is the real thing. Of course you know where my heart lies, but I can see them losing.

Did you know that Daria Werbowy was “legendary”? I didn’t. Apparently the big news (Adding to the decline of traditional values) is that she will model both female and make versions of AG Jeans in ads. I’ll stick to Levis and Lees.

I never have liked the show “Caberet”.

I’m not surprised that The White House wants to spend nearly $4 Billion on a driverless car. After all we have a driverless executive branch. Just sit back and lea vie the decisions to a robot.

The movie 13 Hours opened today, and I expect that critical reviews will be based more on political agenda than content. Oddly though, NPR’s critic from Variety liked it and said people should see it. He added that it had a few too many explosions for his ears, but overall thought it should be seen.

BTW, I know what Cruz means by NY values.

This is American Idol’s last season, and I will be reviewing it and making predictions when they get beyond the initial phases. I’ve have seen so pretty good talent in the snippets I have watched.

The big problem with the US military isn’t necessarily its diminished size or outdated equipment, but all of the regulations handcuffing officers during warfare.

A set of the new PXG Golf Clubs costs about $5000, and they will sell like hotcakes in pro shops. Golfers have been overpaying for golf equipment for years to find the magic beans. The PXG line has the added benefit of adding social status that is highly desirable at the local country club. My 3 wood cost 1/20th that of the PXG version and worked beautifully.

The Parking Lot: Chapter 40 continues…
“Who put you in charge,” came the angry voice. “I have Fred.”
“I have more than Fred. I have everything you want. More importantly, I have everything your boss wants. You can only lose if you don’t get what I have, Jacko.” Nancy figured that Jacko would make him madder, force him into making mistakes.
Nancy waited several seconds. “See you in 20 minutes.” She clicked off the connection and turned off the phone.
She rose up from lying back in her seat so she could see the door. Jared reached down and picked up one of the two riffles on the floor. He didn’t know quite what he would do with it, but figured that Nancy would tell him when the time came. She must have read his doubts because she reached over and squeezed his thigh.
After about five minutes, the door opened, and out walked Jerry and close behind him Jackovic. Nancy watched and waited, pulling a small phone out of her jacket pocket. She pushed a couple of numbers on the keypad and sat back and watched. A car finally came around the corner as she had expected. Jared was climbing over into the front drivers seat.
Jackovic and Jerry walked towards the waiting car, and Nancy pressed send. An vicious range light consumed the area followed by an explosion that’s sent the two men flying and the car tumbling. Nancy watched he scene carefully. “Step on it.,” she shouted to Jared. The small car lurched forward with all of its minimal power. She saw the two lying on the curb, and then noticed that the door to the car opening. She raised her rifle as Jared turned right towards the smoke. She didn’t see the other car start up begin racing down to the mess.

Reading Between the Lines Movie Reviews:
-- There aren’t many decent new films today, and 13 Hours looks like the big flick of the day. Critical assessment is looking so-so, but viewers seem to be liking it a lot. It’s about the raid on Benghazi and some of the drama centers around the team of hired soldiers resisting orders not to go in and save the 31 they did. If they had been allowed to go in earlier they may have saved 35. There is probably too much action that gets in the way of the real story. But it does tell the story of a reluctant State Department.
--I think the trailer for Ride Along2, a comedy about cop buddies looks kind of dreadful The critics rated it close to zero, but audiences who liked the original seem to be liking this one too.
--Norm of the North is pretty awful, and rated even lower than Ride Along 2 by critics. The difference here is that while audience likes Ride, they don’t like this one about a polar bear fighting a developer who wants to build condos in the Arctic. He and his goofy band of lemmings go to NYC to stop it.

The Answer:
If it has bombs and blood in it Michael bay was a there. He produced Transformers, Pearl Harbor, Armageddon, Amityville Horror, Nightmare on Elm Street. The hitcher and Friday the 13th, among many others.

Did you hear about the Muslim Tribute Band called Bomb Jovi? Thanks to our resident musicologist and all around jokester for that one.
Have a great weekend E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
