The other side of bad.

Today's Tids Issue 3,617
For Spirit:

I have rarely see the sun so bright. So gleaming that the darkness we felt became a blurred memory. I have always marveled at the inner strength of people, especially at the most dire moments. Within all humans there is a sun that may dim at times, but is always capable of shining brilliantly, especially when clouds are the darkest.

Happy Flag Day, everybody. May it ever so wave, that Red, White and Blue. Shall it ever reflect the founding meaning of opportunity and moral rightiousness upon which the country it represents was built. A surge against government tyranny, and a rejection of restrictive allegiances. That all peoples are created equal. That all people allow the government to function for their needs.

The Question:
Quadruple “Q” Day: 1. Who was the first President to give an address on the radio? 2. What was the name of the first Triple Crown Winner? 3. What was the makeup of the first stars and stripes authorized by Congress this day of June 14 in 1775? 4. For what is Maria Gibbs known? And, yes there is even a Bonus in this “Q” Bonanza: Who was nominated by the Repubs the last time their convention was held in Cleveland?

I kid a lot about the idiosyncrasies and declining moral outlook of Millennials, but they are really an inventive group and are truly living in a world we of older generations never envisioned. For every idiot who throws an empty beer case in somebody’s front yard, there are two really smart people with loving values in their hearts, but looking beyond the traditional to breakthrough with new innovations which will benefit mankind for the longer run. In other words, millennials are not the crass loons as portrayed by Hollywood in bad movies. They are exactly like us, living ina new world we could never have imagined.

You have to figure that Greece is worried as much as anybody about Brexit which would potentially cause the demise of the EU, which for them stands for Economic Underwriter, or in a plain English “Sugar daddy”.

Apple iOS10 revealed some cool new stuff, much of it though putting the iPhone on equal footing with Google. --One of them is Voicemail Transcription (With unique spam flagging), which I have already on my Android sans spam flag. –iMessage will have a drawer of apps, one of which would be Square Cash (SC), enabling users to pay each other via texts. –iMessage will automatically highlight words suitable for “Emojifying”. –An “invisible ink” option which the receiver can see by swiping –“Tapbacks” for iM which is similar to “liking” on FB. Basically though, these are interesting new add-ons which will keep the company competitive with its giant and growing Android rivals. What it needs for stockholders, though, is a breakthrough in the really new, never before seen product areas. Something that nobody is thinking about now.

Have you ever heard of “Mini Moons”? That stands for simple short and inexpensive Honeymoons. It is an innovation of the younger generations, and an App, who understand the excess of spending more than necessary after a lavish wedding. Now if they can only come up with “Mini-Buds”, as in government budgets that actually don’t spend mare than what’s in the cash register. I bet they can. It’s their future.

You have to figure that the way union owned legislature and Governor’s  office seems to be undercutting them, that Charter Schools must be doing something right.

It’s hard to be thinking of Microsoft – the company that gave us all computing a mere 30 years ago – as desperate. But, that’s the sense industry observers felt dafter the purchase of LinkedIn. Is it the last gasp of a giant who finds its main business a couplo of steps behind where the tech world is going?

The Answer:
1. Warren Harding‘s dulcet presidential tones were the first heard on the radio. 2. Sir Barton was the first triple Crown Winner. 3. In 1775 Congress authorized a flag with 13 stripes and 13 stars. 4. You probably will remember that Maria Gibbs was nominated for 5 Emmys for her role as the maid Florence Johnson in the TV series “The Jefferson’s”. Bonus: Alf Landon was secreted to run against FDR in 1936, 80 years ago. Yikes – Alf got trampled by the Democrat hero. I’ve seen Hillary, and she’s no FDR.

I think tomorrow I’ll write  about romance. It’s always good to get the old heart afluttering.
