Where do you find a good community organizer when you need one?

Today's Tids Issue 3,636
For Unity:

God, what a terrible tragedy. A tragedy for families of gunned down police, and for a civilized society. It seems to me that rushing to judgment by politicians and the media before the all of the facts are in about shooting incidents, inflames the problem, or even creates problems that aren’t there. And then, the Pols rush to gun control. And what is accomplished – Nothing. The hatred remains and the killing mentality thrives. Why isn’t there a cry to bring communities together, Never in history have we had a President who could go into the communities to foster understanding; Controlling guns is not an answer to diminishing hatred and ignorance. We must encourage understanding rather than magnifying excuses to divide. I know, I sound simplistic, I don’t live in the community. I realize that thousands of great, smart people work hard in the communities for the good of the people there. But we need more than ever a credible, human call for national unification over division. We need the boss’s imprimatur for truth and understanding. Talk about a great legacy.

The daylilies and Shasta daisies are in full bloom and the summer beyond the hatred looks great.

The way I figure it, in about 22 days we get August and the summer starts winding down. The summer wears me out. And, Cheeto dust sticks to my fingers more.

The Question:
10 car models are being discontinued. See if you can name five of them.

The Headlines:
--Most Of Nation Mourns Dead Police; Washington DC In Lockdown; Hill and Trump Suspend Campaigns; Obama Horrified; Killer Said He Was Enraged Over Recent Shootings And “Wanted To Kill White People Especially White Officers”
--Wall Street Happy As New Jobs Hit 287,000; Dow You near 200; Oil Production Companies Poised To Hire 100,000; Unemployment Rises To 4.9% As More People Enter Workforce.
--Hillary Adds “Free College” To Bribe Younger Voters; Hardworking Taxpayers Go Berserk.
--Consumer Reports Says Samsung Galaxy S7 Does Hold Water, But Water Proof Claims Don’t.
--Trump Has Productive Meeting With Repub Honchos.

I think Berzerk spelled with a “z” instead of an “s” makes it seem crazier.

In about two weeks we should start seeing native corn on the cob. It may be the best season of the year. Maybe corn on the cob could help unify angry factions.

Maybe the new popular acronym YOLO has something to do with declining responsibility.

Bears tend to avoid power naps because it takes them four months to wake up.

One of the expressions that really bothers me is the young married couple saying they have two nice “Fur Babies.”

A reader sends in this relevant phrase: “A society who makes war with police had better learn to make friends with its criminals.”

I used to look at Mexico and think how lucky we were in America not to have mass killings in the streets.

Today, right I the middle of summer, we had one of those perfect New England golfing mornings -- Foggy, cold and windy. Yum!

Reading Between the Lines Movies Reciews:
--Not a particularly great week for movies, but then this is summer when studio execs must think human brains go into hibernation. The Secret Life of Pets is not great but may be the best of the week, The animated movie is about the lives pets lead when their masters are at work or school, or whatever.
--There are moments of laughter in the Adam Devine, Zach Ephron immature romp, Mie and Dav Need Wedding Dates. The boys go on line looking for dates for their sister’s Hawaii weding. They find a wild twosome who even they can’t keep up with. I’ll never se it.
--Cell, based on Stephen King’s best selling novel, is maybe the worst movie of the year, Even John Cuzack and Samuel Jackson can’t make tis film work. At an airport an electronic signal turns a hundred cell one owners into serial killers. Now, I might want to see this creepy mess, but it is considered by critics and audiences to be entirely awful.
-- In fathers and Daughters, an award winning writer (Russell Crowe) after a mental breakdown must cope with being a widower and father. 27 years later his daughter must struggle to forge her own connections. This struggles to be watchable

The Answer:
#10 is Toyota Venza. Next is Scion xB followed by Scion IQ, Nissan Xterra (Personally liked by me), Mini Cooper Coupe and Roadster, Land Rover LR2, Jaguar XK, Infinity Q40, Honda Crosstour and Mercedes Benz M Class.

I seem to be struggling to write happy Tids these days. Actually I’m quite happy, but I think I should be sensitive to all of the tragedy around us. It tough being an empathist.

Have a great weekend, E-v-e-ry-b-o-d-y!
