When did God rewrite the 8th Commandment for politicians?

Today's Tids Issue 3,659
For Abe:

With all of the information about anything buzzing around every mass communications medium, you have to wonder if people create debilitations because they think it is that time in life to do so.

Olympic Glimpses:

I am really impressed with the Hungarian swimmer Katinka Hosszu. –Where is it written that liberals must put on opening ceremonies filed with ideological clichés? –Political correctness abounds in this Olympics where announcers are constantly challenged for relating the truth and athletes are hailed for personal dogmas over athletic achievement. – US Basketball beating up on other countries is ho-hum at best. –US swimmer Ledecky is really exciting; And Lily King was amazing. –The way NBC introduced men’s gymnastics, I thought the US team was a sure medal winner. They came in 5th after Japan, Russia, China and Great Britain. –Personally, I’m rooting for Brazilian teams just because our media has treated Brazil so badly.

The Question:

Name three Melanie Griffith movies. Bonus: Who was Melanie’s Mom?

The Headlines:

--US Productivity Falls For third Consecutive Quarter; Stocks Look To Positive Opening..

--IS Forms Alliance With Taliban In Afghanistan To Focus On US Forces.

--Chicago Police On Edge After News Of Gangs Plotting Attacks.

--Two Parents Of Sons Killed In Benghazi Sue Hillary For Negligence.

--USA Continues To Lead Medal Race: US -19; China – 13; Japan – 10; Russia – 10; Italy – 9; Australia – 7.

--Clinton And Trump Flopping With Big Silicon Valley Donors.

--Repubs Candidates Running Away From Trump To Preserve Congress.

Wal-Mart seems to be steadily picking up the pieces which may lead to this giant being the main competitor of Amazon in the future inevitable world of Cyber commerce. The only big other big factor now is Ali baba. It is fun to watch the changing of the guard, even for an old person who hates change.

I get excited when I learn they still make the same boat shoes I have been wearing for years.

I perked up at the headline of the lead Olympic story this morning about the American woman fencer who made history at the Olympics. Reading further I saw that her claim to fame had nothing to do with winning (She didn’t come close), but because she had been the first American to wear a Muslim Hajib during an event. She said she is happy to be able to speak for all the people without a voice. When was the last time you were concerned that the 2.04 billion Muslims in the world didn’t have a voice?

This too will pass. I hear from my intellectual friends that they are tiring of Thoreau and his Walden.

I hear that plane front pants are in. But, I feel more comfortable in pleated pants.

I saw a funny cartoon that showed the Olympic torch carrying runner arriving in Rio – with a torch burnng citronella!

Hillary is the classic bear false witness person – they do it so often they have no idea that they are doing it. “What, me lie?”

The Answer:

Melanie Griffith has been a favorite of mine since I first saw her in “Something Wild”, a wonderful underrated film co-starring Jeff Denials. Other Griffith hits are Working Girl, Shining Through, A Stranger Among Us, Nobody’s Fool, Milk Money and the really eerie Pacific Heights. Bonus: Alfred Hitchcock’s favorite actress Tippi Hedren was Melanie’s Mom.

Sorry for the Quickie! Hope it was moderately satisfying.
