For Simple Enjoyment:
“Never
giving up” is becoming trendy since the Patriot’s win. Typically
atrendy, I like this one.
Yesterday
in one of my anti-trend tirades I was a little
sarcastic about the Viet Nam food favorite, Pho. A couple of people whose
opinions I regard highly, wrote almost immediately to tell me that the dish is
the greatest! I’m all pho that.
The
Greeks seem to have taken a page out of Trump-Speak
saying that economic analysts who say the country is on the brink of bankruptcy
are making it up. This is not a good trend.
The
Question:
When do you use whose and who’s?

In
the latest rhetorical decline, American political
opposition has become even more outrageous in denouncing DeVos: “She, her
policies could kill children!”
The
Militiamen are a group of men representing a colonial military
group who are in the end zone at every New England game representing –“The Patriots”..
They are dressed in authentic period costumes and carry muskets. It appears
that this group will have restrictions on it for the Patriots Celebration
parade this morning…because they carry Guns. Shoot me!
It
appears that in today’s Patriots Championship parade, wide receiver
Michael Floyd will not be allowed to drive a Duck Boat.
When
did young Americans start to believe that it is a good idea
to burn and destroy other people’s property just because their team won a
ballgame.
We
have some new readers today. I don’t feel like I have my fast
ball right now, but I never give up.
If
every white person who even suggested criticism
of Obama was called a racist, what do you call black celebrities who constantly
demean the current president with angry slurs?
One
of my favorite trends would be enjoying stuff because it is
enjoyable. Unfortunately, we may be moving far away from such a more sensible
life model as more people want to analyses just about everything from a political
perspective. Society is losing it. It may be because there are so many cable
news reporters feeling they have to be more outrageous than the next for a
competitive edge. Or because there are just people like me writing stuff like the
Tids.
We
asked a young person, “What exactly does Instagram
or Snapchat do?” After the answer, we decided -- why would we ever need that.
Billionaires are being made overnight selling things that people don’t actually
need, but seem to be a occupying a lot of what could be productive time…and
collecting more information on individuals than is healthy for a free society.
Yet, software is the future for a lot of what people seek, like control of
disease and coordinating resources, and a host of life quality improvements. An
instant picture of what Ginny’s cat is eating for desert is not one of them
One
former White House press secretary observing today’s raucous environment,
Dana Perino, says she feels like her time on the podium was like the “Victorian
Age” compared to what came after her.
I
didn’t watch the O’Reilly-Trump ego arm wrestling
match. I watch stuff on super bowl weekend for football. There were a lot of
amazing players on both sides, and that is all that matters.
Hey,
now that the Pats have gotten that 5th win
for themselves and Brady, the only thing the team has left to do is to atone
for those two miserable defeats by the NY Giants. Now all we have to do is get
the Giants to cooperate next year.
Just
in case your Twitter-Facebook-Instagram-Snapchat
wasn’t working this morning, the big news in America is that Christie
Brinkley’s daughters will join her in a bikini photo shoot. How great is that!
Shoot me.
There
is a rumor seeping out of the White House that White
House aide Peter Navarro has proposed a 45% tariff on goods from China. Earlier
tariff ideas were centered on a few selected products like steel. But the new
sense on Wall Street is that Trump may be moving to a broader based high
tariff, which according to Goldman Sachs analysts would result in an immediate
counter tariff of 80% and more on all US exports to that large country. Do you
feel like we are walking on hot coals? Can you say grilled Apple? I think there
will be a lot of sorting out ahead, but making predictions about mature
decisions and executable plans coming out of the WH is next to impossible. I
personally believe we will lose more than we gain in a tariff based economic
environment.
Yesterday,
Nancy Pelosi said she can’t work with president
Bush! Maybe she was thinking, “I wish George W was still here.”
The
Tids Management Interrupts the continuing “The Parking
Lot” serial novel to watch the Patriots championship parade. We’ll be back
tomorrow with a full bodied Tids. But for now, my mind is distracted, and it’s
only about a team that did good.
The
Answer:
Actually the differentiation at times can seem slight.
“Who’s” is a contraction for Who is or Who has. Whose is the possessive form of
who or which. If you think about what you are saying the choice is really quite
clear.
Go
Pats. May the trend continue! Ok, Ok, I know. Most of you
live beyond Pat’s land are looking for your team to win it all next year. But,
that’s what editors can do at times – be selfish. I own the keys.
So
today,
all the way
It’s Go Pats!
And that’s that!
But,
I
wish you all the best of luck next year. I’ll be rooting for you. Well, maybe
not the J-e-t-s.
By
the way, it was refreshing to see millions of Americans
massing on the streets simply because they were happy and excited. For the Pats
right now, and earlier the Cavs and Cubs. No angry signs, no rocks. Just smiles
and cheers.
