For Black Eyed Susans:
It’s
much too hot for this old guy
But if go slow, I just might get by.
I hate to say that I feel a thrill,
When cold winds, blow in a chill.
Depending
on what really happened, the special prosecutor could be
very good for an administration that needs to clear the air.
This
all-out assault by the press and Dems is ruining my
stock portfolio.
When
I write here of flowers waving in gentle breezes wisping
across seaside meadows, I am most often thinking of Black Eyed Susan’s, my personal
favorites.
The
Question:
What, according to a new Harris poll, are the USA’s
five favorite Burger chains?

One
of things that the media doesn’t often report when they are
out to get somebody is the tone of a conversation, the context of inflaming information
with in the whole. Nothing in this new journalistic environment is as damning
as it may be until all of the facts are in. This, at least, is the observation
of Alan Dershowitz.
Word
of the Day: Impermanence. It is actually much as it sounds, “not being
permanent”. Synonyms: Ephemerality, Evanescence, Fleetingness, Momentariness, Temporariness,
Transiency. Get it. Where did this idea of ephemerality of the US presidential
office first develop – in the mods of third world immigrants?
Ephemerality,
Evanescence? (Note: Spell Check has no clue about these.)
Note:
A
reader liked yesterday’s “word of the day” Tidlet. So, I will find a way to
continue.
Yesterday’s
melee outside the Turkish embassy looked like a country
I and many never wanted to be.
A
lot of Wall Street observers are saying that the market was
overdue for a decent correction, and the White House Turmoil was a good excuse
for a movement downward. That doesn’t mean that it hurt any worse, but it does
leave room for renewed growth.
Is
it a good thing to produce for young audiences a TV series
like 13 Reasons, which follows the thoughts of a young woman pandering suicide.
The “thirteen reasons” are those that would support committing suicide. That’s
the premise in a nutshell. There are a lot of fragile young adults out there
who may need little to push them over the edge, much less 13 reasons flimsily
addressed in a teen movie. Suicide is a serious issue, obviously never to be
taken lightly. Many psychologists think the program, which they say was not
well done nor realistic, could easily be too much for many to rationally
comprehend. For quite some time now we have been in a society that
overdiscusses everything. That works for some, and for many not so much. I
think a lot of people were better off with a lot less information. Too many
live and death decisions are processed through the eyes of a movie maker.
The
Preakness is on tap for this Saturday. The great running for
the Black Eyed Susan’s is the second of the classic three, and it looks like
betters are loving Derby champ “Always Dreaming”. In this shorter race,
“Classic Empire”, the Derby favorite, has the speed to get in front and stay
there. “Lookin’ at Lee” paid well and is getting some early money, but a lot of
people are liking the very contemporary “Cloud Computing”. An underdog to watch
– “Multiplier”. The hedge fund crowd loves him, but he still is at 30-1.
One
reason the Apple loyalty rate continues to grow is
because many who have come to dislike the company under Tim Cook have already
switched away to Android or Microsoft. Never take statistics at face value.
In
case you are interested, it seems that far more police than
not are cleared in trials about shootings. Despite the way the media writes
headlines.
Crazy
greed, Department:
I feel for young Lonzo ball, the potential #1 basketball
draft prospect. His father is out of control trying to make obscene money on his
kid’s talents, and he may be ruining the kid in the process. First he went to the
big three sneaker makers –Nike, Adidas and Under Armor -- and said you can have my son for a billion. They
all said no way, and quickly closed the door to the laughter inside. So, Levar
Ball went out and developed his own brand of sneaker, “Big Baller Brand”, which
he priced at a consumer barring $495! Then he took his brand and offered the big
three sneaker makers marketing rights, but now for $3 Billion. Do you think we
have a problem here? Oh Yeah, and he ticked off women’s groups with the name of
his company.
What
coach would want to draft a player with hovering father
like that?
What
NFL team owner needs a player’s wife like Giselle Bundchen.
Her casual comments about “Tom’s Concussion” may have opened a can of worms for
Pats Owner Robert Kraft. And of course, the media has already overblown the
comments, of course. “NFL Commish Sits Brady for First Four Games as a Health
Precaution!” Yikes.
Smart
phones are capable of doing so much more of what I will
never ever do or even want to do. We are in the new era of technology advances
for technology advances sake. You don’t need it, but we can do it.
The
Answer:
Your first clue is in the question – “Five”. Yes
“Five Guys” is number one, taking over the spot form “In-N-Out”. The rest of
the top five are Shake Shack, Wendy’s and Culver’s. I like Five Guys, but I
really don’t like “Papa Johns”, just named in the same poll as favorite US Pizza
chain. Other national Best-of’s’ are Cheesecake Factory as best casual dining
(I agree), Ben& Jerry’s for Ice Cream -- and for Coffee and Quick Service
Restaurant of the Year – Guess? Sure, it’s Starbucks.
The
current politics are moving too fast for a daily column. By
the time I offer an opinion here, some leaker will feed the hungry get Trump
press another Tidbit. As I have often said, Trump is not a guy I have ever
liked, but, I am for giving any admin the benefit of a doubt for the appearance
of stability to the world. And I believe that Trump, while I shudder at his
trumpeting for himself, is right about being the most assaulted president of
our or any times. No losing party has ever been so vindictive for not doing their
own job properly. The progressives thought they were on a roll with 0-man, but
they found out how much US voters were disgusted withtheir intolerance for any
but their own. Sure, the US got a somewhat shaky President, but it also got some
needed programs and undoing’s moving forward; a necessary change from Obama
that many people dearly wanted. It is a quandary for Admin supporters.
One
of my biggest concerns is who is leaking the information?
Who is dropping the dimes on the Admin?
