For Softening the Anger
Is
there nothing that is sacred any more…starting with
the martini.
And
the new standard for national acceptance of anything is, “It’s
all over twitter.”
What
is with this dangerous path for trying to get anything you
want by lowering standards, And, I’m not talking about “A’s” for showing up in
schools. I’m talking about Congress potentially easing the 60 Senator vote on
budget expenditures. The problem is that “Party” has become so much more than
American people, that there is this sense that nothing which requires a bi-partisan
vote will ever get passed again. Keep American standards for excellence high. Become
adults again. Feel the hearts of others.
There’s
hope for sanity. Well at least for the better illusion
of sanity. Facebook is hiring right now 3,000 workers just to fight streaming
of live violence.

I
was surprised that Stephanie Rice was axed from The Voice last
night. But not that she was beaten in the instant runoff by the leading “Cute
young boy” contestant, (Who is getting better.) Rice was a pretty talented
singer, unique, creative. But she did look angry, Maybe voters got tired of her
often repeated back story, or didn’t understand the creativity of her music. But,
the competition is tough, and good people will be leaving from now on.. In a
review I have used over the years 9 of the 11 received “A’s” for Monday night’s
performance. I’ve never seen that before. Rice wasn’t one of them. I think it
will be tough going forward. Every one of these singers can be super special on
any given night. Lauren Duski was the big ITunes winner, and to Me Jesse Larson
is the fast closing dark horse. It’s a real good season with right now Duski
and Chris Blue considered the favorites at this point.
I
saw Hillary being interviewed at a conference called “Women
for Women, International. How un-inclusive is that. If there was Men for Men, there’d
be marching in the streets and a congressional investigation. The world is loony.
OMB
Director Mulvaney agrees with Jimmy Kimmel, who has made a
heartfelt plea not to take people with existing conditions off of health care.
No
Republican, or indie and Dems with a civilized, caring
heart agrees with the unfunny, enduring bitterness of Kimmel rival, Colbert. A
vigorous twitter assault is mounting against the CBS late night “comic”, with a
call for advertiser boycotts gaining momentum. Many tell his bosses that
Colbert acrimony is not like CBS, a high minded, sensitive company. “Dump him” critics
and rational people say. But then, Colbert is only doing what the smug Pelley
does every night five hours earlier. But Pelley just isn’t so crass and
childish.
The
apocalypse may just be Twitter users governing the
direction of society.
Do
you think that Trump is in the running for the Nobel Peace
Prize?
People
typically overpay for anything that is attached to
news events – the juicier, the better. But, the Aaron Hernandez SUV auction price
may be declining after he was found innocent in the double murder allegedly with
that SUV being an accessory. Nobody wants to pay big bucks for an Innocent man’s
memorabilia.
Actually,
I can’t remember the last time when Colbert was funny. But
this hatred getting out of hand, especially with his latest rant against the
President of the United States. And what is saddest, he is loved most by people
who hate.
Microsoft
introduced the new Surface Laptop yesterday, and you
guessed it, it is a…laptop, plain and simple. It borrowed the “Surface” name
but that didn’t come along with the innovative surface adventures. Oh, the new
Laptop is very, very thin and good looking. It uses the latest Intel Kaby
Processor, But, that costs $1,299 to $2,199, depending on the Ram you need. If
you want to pay only the touted $999, you lose big on processing, getting only the
“measly” Core i5. So basically, if you like Microsoft, this is your chance to
get a machine that makes you look cool and sophisticated, like Mac owners. But don’t
except what “Surface” used to represent.
Seriously,
it’s not just the changing of the meaning of the word
Martini (Or Surface) that bothers me. It seems that every day I hear or see a revised
view of something of the past that were very important to what is positive for today,
and all of those years that got us to today (No, I’m not talking about historical
events made up by DT). Great people and events can be slandered so fast, and thoroughly;
disastrously when abetted by social media combined with not fully knowledgeable,
minds. No, a martini is gin, vermouth and olives. Period. What is unethical is
unethical regardless of whether a law has been passed to enable such felonies of
the mind.
The
iPhone 7’s design is 3 years old. Doesn’t Apple seem to
be losing it’s grip on leadership?
I’m
thinking that what Kim wants most is for the US to leave
South Korea and take all of their weapons with them.
The
NY Times has announced it broke all records by adding
300,000 new digital subscriptions for Q1 2017. I happen to know that during this
period a promotion promised that for every “discounted” newspaper subscription
(Weekly or Sunday only) that included a digital
subscription, the subscriber was also given two additional free digital subscriptions
to pass onto family and friends. That mounts up fast.
Is
using the name “surface” to describe a mere laptop Fraud?
The
Answer:
Ok, you probably all guessed number one as Johnny Carson.
#2 is Letterman followed by Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Kimmel. #5 is Craig Ferguson,
followed by Jimmy Fallon, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, John Oliver and
strangely all the way down at #10 – Jay Leno. I would have him up at least in
the top five. Somehow Ed Sullivan slipped in at 11. At 12 we have Steve Allen
who pretty much started it all. Next is Graham Norton, and at #14 another
molded the profession – Jack Paar. Paar was as big as any of them, maybe more so
in his day. The rest through #20 are James Cordon, Bill Maher, Dick Cavett, Tom
Snyder, Seth Meyer and Arsenio Hall. One of my faves, Dennis Miller, is 21.
For
all who say everything is better now, I say you just don’t
understand what was.
But
I don’t like olives. So use onions and call it a Gibson.
