I’d like to open to today with a rhapsodic trip through the goodness in people’s hearts and the pleasant dreams of sunlit days. But it doesn’t seem quite right when nights are so dark.

 

Our state’s fair big city was the latest to have received a coordinated attack (Opinion of state officials) from marauders and thugs. While protesters marched peacefully by day, the RI State Police received a warning from the Massachusetts State Police that a large caravan of cars was heading for Providence RI to wreak widespread havoc. And they did. The thugs nationally are not only desecrating the memory of a man murdered, but they are stealing jobs from those who have waited so long to get back. I read that big companies like CVS, Walmart, Target and many others are now closing stores in the wake of high levels of criminal activity, instead of keeping them open for neighborhoods necessities; places for families to earn a living. There are no excuses for thugs and pillagers. And now they discovered us.

 

I stayed up all night to see where the sun went, and then it dawned on me.

 

Could it be that Americans are healthier due to the pandemic? It is quite possible that is happening as more people are out there on their bikes, and running and taking longer brisk walks. Out of disruption comes progress.

 

At the end of the day, geologists prefer whiskey on the rocks.

Give me strength O Lord not to be tempted in these days of isolation to turn to watching celebrities getting haircuts live, or home schooling their children. Amen.

 

Just to put things into perspective, people born in 1900 who lived until they were 75 survived WWI, the Spanish Flu, The Great  Depression, WWII, The Korean War, and the Viet Nam War -- where during that period the country’s economy spent ten years on life support and over 156 Million people died solely due to those events.

 

In reading about the Floyd protest actions, it is apparent that many of the protestors are people who join protests as a rule, from women marches and gay rights rallies to BLM and other events pointing out moral shortcomings. It doesn’t take away from the issues represented by most of the protests, it is just the reason why they mass so quickly.

 

Kids don’t know how hard we had it back then when we had to a walk 9 feet though heavy shag carpet to change a TV channel.

 

As the protests go on, the protesters are really only talking to themselves as the people they are trying to inform get tired of the long days and nights of similar scenes, and move on. It is just the way things happen.

 

A new British statistical analysis says that that after age, ethnicity represents the biggest isolated reason for Covid death groupings. “Deaths of those of British ethnicity is half that of Bangladesh, Caribbean, Black and Asian ethnicities.” Data scientists are probing these newly isolated stats hoping to get a grasp on new methods for fighting the spread, or if in fact some ethnicities are more susceptible to the infection.

 

By the way, BBC news has an anti-disinformation team working on the reporting of the US riots and protests. Some of their cautions are, watch out of old videos of police “brutality”. They are seeing clips of years past and even a few from countries outside of the US. Also, they say, beware of ideological conspiracy theories, and rumors about foreign country involvement.

It’s tough to write about protest situations’ like the current Floyd movement. There are so many conflicting opinions, and even many opposing opinions which may be entirely and equally correct because of different circumstances. For instance, there is a call by protestors for justice, but justice isn’t served by mob rule? Like many things today, if you tell the truth about something, you can be destroyed by others who don’t like that truth. I like to comment on everything, and sometimes when sorting things out you find reasonable answers that are against prevailing opinions or at least against the opinions of those with bullhorns.

 

I thought the brother of Floyd was excellent yesterday. He got to me.
