“I think the best way to find happiness is to stop looking so hard.” Kermit

Today's Tids Issue 4,486

Kermit knows:

When the culture deniers demand to ban the Muppets because it is offensive, then we know it will be better on Mars… even without water.  In fact, I’ll move anywhere that doesn’t have social networks.

There are two rules for success. (1) Don’t tell all you know.

I know that somebody in New Mexico or Florida may not understand this, but today here, a sunny 36 degrees felt like a nice spring day to me. It happens. You can enjoy just about anything if you don’t fight it.

Journalism Red Meat, Department:

Now with the SC decision about allowing the release of Trump tax records, there will be journalists everywhere trying everything and anything to see what they say. But, these were released to secret Grand Jury, so they will probably remain secret, unless Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance Jr.  finds something there as a basis for Charging Trump criminally. Or if some media person makes it worth the while of Grad Juror.

The Question:

What state has the highest percentage of people who walk to work?  Bonus: What is the percentage of wilderness in Africa? What is the percentage of wilderness in North America? Extra Bonus: Who was Jean-Francois Champollion?

The Headlines:

--Nasdaq Trending Towards Another Significantly Lower Opening; Most See This As Signs Of Shift In Asset Allocation As Prospects For Return To More Normally Improve; Dow Joins Nas In Downturn; Tesla Going Wrong Way; Bitcoin Tumbling.

--Rockets A Fired At US Embassy In Iraq Green Zone; Attack Is Third Rocket Attack On US Installations In Week.

--Yellen, Powel Pushing For Stimulus.

--US Arrests El Chapo’s Wife On Drug Charges.

How do you know if somebody is hitchhiking, or just complimenting your driving?

I getting tired of Doctor Fauci. He really doesn’t say every much considering all of the air time he gets.

A longtime reader reminds me that I forgot to give the full answer to the Question. “What is a Honeymoon Salad? I gave you “Lettuce alone”. But the full answer is “Lettuce alone, without dressing!”

Thank God for long time readers.

Speaking of longtime readers. One of the great people I ever known died Sunday night after battling an aggressive Parkinson’s. He once wrote from South Africa that the Tids was keeping him sane while doing business there. Now, that’s the sign of a great friend – somebody who could be having fun but choosing the Tids instead. It was shock. And he will be missed. You couldn’t help but smile when you were with Fred.

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal.  Love leaves a memory no one can steal.”

Freshman high school students were asked what D-Day was. They said he was a rapper.

A guy goes to a club; the bouncer stops him. "No tie, no entry." He walks back to his car to find a tie. All he found were jumper cables so he puts them around his neck like a tie. He goes back and says "How's this?" The bouncer says "I'll let you in, but don't start anything."

We haven’t had many days lately when you didn’t want to look at your portfolio. This is one of them. This is the day that reminds you of what many were saying back in the summer that too many of these stocks are way overpriced.

The Answer:

Alaska has the highest percentage of people who walk to work. That’s not helping the cause for drill more oil up there. Bonus: Africa has less wilderness than North America: Africa – 28%; NA – 38%. Extra Bonus: French linguist Jean-Francois Champollion deciphered the Rosetta Stone and cracked the hieroglyphic code.

My wife would be furious at me for kicking dropped ice cubes under the refrigerator. But now it's just water under the fridge.

I have to tell jokes today after watching the stock mart all morning. Somehow this selloff feels different.
