Today's Tids Issue 4,835
Who is guarding the piggy bank.
Getting outside at least once a day is the best way to beat Covid. I don’t mean necessarily the disease per se, but the effects the disease has on many struggling to live a pleasant life. It’s too easy to get over-concerned about what you are not doing instead of seeking little things to enjoy.
I think a feeling I would hate most is that of feeling melancholy. It is like a total waste of energy.
Black Cloud, Department:
You gotta feel sorry for the city of Tampa Bay. The TB Lightening won the Stanley Cup. The TB Rays were in the Worlds Stereos. and now The TB Bucs are playing in the Superbowl which is being held in Tampa Bay. And Covid shut down fan attendance and all of the money-making opportunities associated with championships. And of course, the fun mass celebrations. No bars. No restaurants and in fact No World Series games at home at all as all were played in Texas. I 2020, TB was Sports Town USA, and nobody came.
I think dark chocolate Kit Kats could become a favorite of mine.
I got a Covid first shot, and nothing happened. Easy and painless, just in case you are interested, or seeing the horror stories on the nightly news. .
The Question:
With the Super bowl on the horizon, who are ranked as the top ten QB’s of all time? Bonus: What are considered the most “Rewatchable” comedy movies.
The Headlines:
--Markets Continue Up During day S Despite Weak Jobs Report; Unemployment Drops; Restaurant Travel Industries Continue Downward Spiral.
--Senate Passes Budget Resolution, 50-50; Harris Breaks Tie Leading To Fast Track Towards Stimulus.
–Labor Secretary Nominee Marty Walsh Wins Strong Support From Unions; Senator Ted Cruz Throws Monkey Wrench Into Commerce Secretary Raimondo’s Full Senate Vote.
--Russia Expels Diplomats from Germany, Sweden And Poland For Attending Rally I Support Of Navalney.
--Jen Psaki, Face of Biden Admin, Apologizes to Military Members Of New US Space Force For Mocking Them;
Constitutional law professor Alan Dershowitz says that the Impeachment committee charges against Trump could have the unintended result attack the future of Freedom of Speech amendment for everybody.
This idea of calling for Biden to create “Reality Tzar” being floated about by the New York Times is a little scary. It reminds me again of the intolerance of the left – a one idea nation.
It is interesting looking at the Dems who will now lead the 20 permanent Senate committees. Outspoken Wall Street critic Sherrod Brown will head Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. Socialist Bernie Sanders will Head the Budget committee. Ron Wyden who is in lockstep with Joe B on tax changes will be chairing Finance which is responsible for everything about taxation and revenue. Those are some of the key committees. Jack Reed of RI will be chairing the Defense committee. I have never heard him create an original sentence. Elizabeth Warren has just been appointed to the Finance committee who will go well with her current position on the Banking Committee. This is not a good sign for business and financial businesses in particular. They couldn’t find any Dem to lead the Intelligence committee. Sorry Dems, just kidding.
Do you know why senators typically make bad presidents -- they don’t know how to manage spending.
Collateral damage in the Senate, Department:
Ted Cruz put a hold on the full Senate vote for Gina Raimondo as Secretary of Commerce. It was about her answer on upholding the ban China’s Huawei. Hey Ted—Repubs, some Dems and certainly small business people in RI want her out of here like yesterday, so they can crawl out from under and star doing things again. So let’s get this senate vote going.
If the government begins paying off student loans, colleges and universities will begin to raise prices. It’s the old pot-full-of-dough concept I’ve been talking about for years – if the money is there people will spend it… and ask for more next year.
The thought among many Russia watchers is that Putin will start pressing the knife into Americas soft underbelly and push to see how far it can push before there is a reaction from the new Admin.
So, what’s New, Department:
A member of the RI ethics Commission just resigned for being totally unethical.
I’ll be looking forward to a good Superbowl game on Sunday. This year it does appear that it will actually be more about football than anything else.
Student loan forgiveness is an insult to all those families who worked harder made sacrifices to pay off their loans, students who worked their way through college It is an insult to the independence of America. Loan forgiveness is a bad idea, except for socialists.
The Answer:
After 993,200 votes Tom Brady is Number 1. Next are Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rogers, Johnny Unitas, Bret Favre, John Elway, Joe Montana, Dan Marino, Steve Young, Roger Staubach, Fran Tarkington, Bart Starr, Otto Graham, Russell Wilson, Jim Kelly, Warren Moon, Kurt Warner, Terry Bradshaw, Troy Aikman, Ben Rothlisberger, Patrick Mahomes, Phillip Rivers, Ken Stabler and at #25 Joe Namath. Personally, I think that Fran Tarkington is always rated too high as is Dan Marino. Namath was a one hit wonder who just happened to live in the media capital of the world. Surveys like this always skew to the newer generations. Thus Brady, Brees and Manning at the top. Bonus: Number 1 is Groundhogs Day. Hmmm. Somehow “Rewatchable” and Groundhogs day go together. Next is Airplane followed by Coming to America, Caddyshack, Office Space, Dumb ad Dumber, Dead Pool, Tommy Boy, Elf and Spaceballs. I liked #19 My Cousin Vinny and #25 Beverly Hills Cop. I really didn’t like #23, Bridesmaids.
Have a great weekend, E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y!!
