Today's Tids Issue 5,060
It's beginning to look a lot like ...:
Ok, one week left for serious shopping. For me it’s six days left until I begin.
Today is National Ugly Sweater Day. Is that a little like littering our streets during this season? But I’d rather see smiling faces in ugly sweaters than medical masks or Dunkin Donut and McDonald’s boxes and wrappers in the streets.
For some holiday smiles, I’m sprinkling Today’s Tids with some of the better classic puns. They never stop making me smile.
The Alums of the big college sports factories are forming collectives as charitable foundations that would accumulate millions for athlete recruitment under the new NIL tolerances. It will dramatically change the world of college athletics like never before. And it would never be again, “Win one for the Brown and White or Blue and yellow. Just win for the “Green”.
Dijon Vu: The same mustard as before.
The Question:

US Stock Markets may be more subject to the global economy ills in the year to come. One insidious major factor for all is the turbulence in China. For one, there is the Evergrande collapse rippling through multinational financial institutions, now burdened with suits valued at $13 Billion. For instance, Last Q, 55% of global Facial chiefs thought that China would be better in 2022. This quarter it is way down to just 27%. And for North America, 54% of CFO’s, saw it batter last Q versus 45% now. So there is declining global optimism for a number of reasons, but one clearly being the possible big hiccup for the second largest global economy. It teds to say to me, be cautious.
A hangover is the wrath of grapes.
The Miss America pageant crowned its first winner 100 years ago, It has been quite the history, becoming part of America’s fabric in its heyday… I those calmer times But now it appears to be just more of a footnote in today’s supercharged environment. Remember fun. Where have you gone, Bert Parks?
Will Japan stocks become the next harbor of financial refuge? Could be.
There is a direct correlation between the average age of a group and the number of reminders sent out ahead of a group meeting.
Duh: “Candle Factory workers file class action suit against Candle Factory Owner”. What would you expect after the Media set him up by interviewing employees in hospital beds, feeding them leading questions? It was a tornado, perhaps the fiercest, most powerful tornado in tornado history. I feel for the poor guy.
Shotgun wedding: A case of wife or death.
Reading Between the Lines Movie Reviews:
--If you aren’t tired of seeing snippets of Spiderman: No Way Home in all of the recent TV commercials, then you will be in for a treat. It is like the others -- fun and full of action. Both critics and regular people absolutely love it. For the first time ever Spidy’s identity is revealed and that puts him and everybody around him at risk.
--Another star loaded movie out today is Nightmare Alley It intrigues me, but really is hard for me to describe. It is generally well liked, but everything have seen seems confusing. This remake of a 1947 classic sounds like a good creepy story, maybe over directed. It’s about a doe on is luck charismatic guy who meets a group of connivers who help him become successful in a world of grifting until he meets his match.
The Answer:
One list had the top five as Vanessa Williams (Who made it big due to a little infamous occurrence) followed by TV morning host Debbie Turner Belt, Gretchen Carlson, Mary Ann Mobley and Lee Meriwether. The first Miss America in 1921 was Margaret Gorman. Some other woman who became famous after firsts tasting the Miss America pageant or other noted beauty fests are Diane Sawyer, Lynda Carter, Michelle Pfieffer, Vanna White, Sarah Palin, Candice Bergen, Halle Berry and many others.
I don’t buy this notion that pageant participants are the most beautiful. Actually, the most beautiful are all around us living in small towns and large cities, doing real everyday things that make the world go round. Like contributing on a daily basis at work at play or raising families at home. And loving someone dearly beyond the spotlight. Thats where the real beauty is.
